The most recent era of Disney we all know is called the revival, but why did it work? Well here's the reasons why I liked these stories.

The reason why the Disney revival worked is because they went back to their roots, the magic, the songs, the atmosphere all felt like classic Disney, with new technology also making an apperance it also further helped to establish a new era, they should make more movies like Tangled, or Moana and less unoriginal live action remakes

Agreed! I feel the same way about the trilogy of Descendants TV movies on Disney Channel because...they had a lot riding against them as a concept, but once again, the magic, the songs and the atmosphere all felt like classic Disney in there too, and I was very pleased that the writers and director of Descendants found a way to adapt almost everything we liked about the classic animated fairytale films in the medium of live-action. Besides having a lot more originality to them than the live-action remakes based on the same films (especially in building its own world to have many of the characters from other movies and their kids cross over with one another), they are also geared more towards the same younger audiences of their animated counterparts than other live-action adaptations of them, like the villain-centric movies Descendants and Cruella, and ABC's Once Upon a Time. If you have watched any of the Descendants movies, what are your feelings on them?

That's precisely why I avoided watching it for years. Actually, that's also why I had no interest in watching the Renaissance movies, or the classics, or Dreamworks' Shrek until just recently; growing up, those movies were EVERYWHERE, and I hated constantly having to hear about them. I'm still not too fond of Shrek outside of the Puss and Boots character and his solo cast, probably because I'm just not a fan of heavily referential, subversive movies that think they're smarter than they actually are, but I've come to appreciate a lot of what the Disney Animated Canon has to offer.

I got to experience the entire Disney renaissance, although I was three when The Little Mermaid was in the cinema, the renaissance was a huge part of my childhood throughout the nineties. To me atleast, the Disney revival defined my late twenties and early thirties, from my testimony, it's unique to experience Disney films as an adult, as I was able to enjoy these films independently of my family, and despite my age, I still felt that childlike wonder when I first saw these films. I look fondly back at these moments, sometimes it even feels magical, as began to explore the world on my own, with the Disney revival on my mind to inspire me to do more.

We need Disney Animation Studios to make a dark fantasy/grimdark movie inspired by the works of George R.R Martin (albeit toned down a bit for a younger audience). Something like The Black Cauldron was back in the day. We need something like that from Disney after Wish comes out We need a new movie inspired by Japanese anime with 2D anime-esque effects overlayed on top of the 3D animation. When does the revival era end? Because I think it is over, people aren't as into Disney the way they were back in 2013 or 2016. There's a lot of animosity and tiredness with new Disney products. Personally I put the end after Frozen 2, right before the pandemic. I feel like that was the last hurrah before stuff went to streaming and these films stopped making money. Of course Encanto is great and maybe Wish will be great too, but I think we're in the post revival now.

I'm tempted to ask how you'd rank the Disney Animated Canon movies after hearing you talk about individual movies and/or eras so much, but... yeah that's a bit of a monumental task so... That said, I would like to ask about your thoughts on Nimona, since it's a movie that almost got released under the Disney label until they put the kibosh on it for really stupid reasons that I am sure they're kicking themselves for since it is proving quite successful under its new home, especially compared to what Disney had to offer this year so far.

@@aldone333 Question: Which Disney movies do you think will come out on the Novembers of the mid-2020s (2024-2026)? One thing’s for sure, there will be sequels to some of the 2010s Disney movies like Zootopia 2 and Frozen 3 & 4. My best guess is that this year, we’ll get the Zootopia sequel and that in 2025-2026, we’ll get the second half of the Frozen movies.

I would argue that Frozen 2 was the last Disney film from the revival era of Disney. I would say anything from Onward (if you include Pixar) or Raya and the Last Dragon begins the new Disney era. This new era in which I will dub the Forgotten Era of Disney animation. This era will be known as an era that Disney animated films took a dip in quality when compared to the revival era. This doesn’t mean that the films of this era will be bad, but they won’t be the critical darlings of the revival era. These films will also struggle at the box office and will come nowhere near the box office heights of the revival era.

important character in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea, Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, and thus, they will be the new main characters of the Shrek 5 movie so that they help Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others to defeat Rumpelstiltskin, Death and all the Official Villains of Prince Flynn Rider, Princess Rapunzel, Maui, Queen Moana Waialiki, Hiccup Haddock, Princess Mérida, Kristoff Bjorgman, Queen Anna, Jack Frost, Princess Elsa, Princess Raya, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Anastasia Tremaine and Melody, although in reality, Melody is the first and only that she is not a true Official Disney Princess along with Anastasia Tremaine, because Anastasia Tremaine is not born of royalty, while, Melody made her debut in the movie of The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea and it is also because she is the first and only daughter of an Official Disney Princess, but Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey, Dragon, Puss in Boots, Kitty Softpaws, Perrito, Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany, King Artie, Princess Guinevere, the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle, and Felicia, the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and the others also need Anastasia Tremaine and Melody's help to protect and save their kingdom called Far Far Away away from Rumpelstiltskin, Death and the other Official Villains of Disney and DreamWorks, because Anastasia Tremaine is now a good person, while, Melody is the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the death of Queen Lillian, because since her husband named King Harold passed away in the Shrek 3 movie, she has felt heartbroken and that caused his own death in his kingdom called Far Far Away, and all the inhabitants of Princess Fiona and King Artie's kingdom called Far Far Away are saddened by the death of Queen Lillian, because now she is with her husband named King Harold in heaven, and now they have lost their queen, that means now the kingdom of Far Far Away needs a new queen and King Artie said that his love interest, girlfriend, fiancée and former classmate from Worcestershire school called Princess Guinevere would be the one to be the new Queen of Far Far Away, so King Artie decided to return to his old school called Worcestershire along with Shrek, with his older cousin Princess Fiona, with Donkey, with Dragon, with Puss in Boots, with Kitty Softpaws, with Perrito, with the children of Shrek and Princess Fiona: Fergus, Farkle and Felicia, with the children of Donkey and Dragon: Bananas, Parfait, Peanut, Eclair, Coco and Debbie and with the others to meet again with their friends from their school who are actually Prince Lancelot, Princess Tiffany and their love interest, girlfriend and fiancée Princess Guinevere to take them back to their kingdom called Far Far Away, and in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the romance of all the Official Disney Princes and Princesses from their respective movies, especially the romance of Maui and Queen Moana Waialiki, the romance of Hiccup Haddock and Princess Mérida, the romance of Jack Frost and Princess Elsa, the romance of Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany and the romance of King Artie and Princess Guinevere, because I think in the Shrek 5 movie, Maui will be Queen Moana Waialiki's love interest, boyfriend and fiancé, while Hiccup Haddock will be Princess Mérida's love interest and boyfriend, Princess Tiffany will be Prince Lancelot's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée and Princess Guinevere will be King Artie's love interest, girlfriend and fiancée, because Queen Moana Waialiki is going to fall in love with Maui, Princess Mérida is going to fall in love Hiccup Haddock, Princess Tiffany is going to fall in love with Prince Lancelot and Princess Guinevere is going to fall in love with King Artie, but they don't know how to tell them their feelings towards them and neither how to win their hearts, because every time Queen Moana Waialiki gets too close to Maui when it comes to true love, she gets very nervous with him, while which in the case of Princess Mérida is also the same, because whenever Princess Mérida gets too close to Hiccup Haddock when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous with him, in the case of Princess Tiffany it is also the same, because whenever Princess Tiffany gets too close to Prince Lancelot when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, and in the case of Princess Guinevere too, because every time Princess Guinevere gets too close to King Artie when it comes to true love, she also gets very nervous around him, but luckily for them, Princess Fiona will help Queen Moana Waialiki to win the heart of Maui, also Princess Mérida to win the heart of Hiccup Haddock, also Princess Tiffany to win the heart of Prince Lancelot and also Princess Guinevere to win the heart of King Artie, and I also want that in the Shrek movie 5, Jack Frost will be Princess Elsa's love interest and boyfriend, because Jack Frost leaves fall in love with Princess Elsa, but he doesn't know how to tell her his feelings and how to win her heart, because every time Jack Frost gets too close to Princess Elsa when it comes to true love, he gets very nervous with her, but fortunately for him, Shrek will help Jack Frost to win the heart of Princess Elsa, except Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, because now they will be the only Official Disney Princesses who do not need to have love interests and who can remain single forever, and I also say the same for Melody, the daughter of Prince Eric and Princess Ariel, because like Princess Raya and Princess Mirabel Madrigal, she doesn't need a love interest either, but in the Shrek 5 movie, I also want to see the rivalry between King Artie and Queen Anna because they both want to compete in a challenge to see who is the best monarch a of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, because both want to do what is best for their own kingdom, because King Artie wants to do what is best for his kingdom called Far Far Away because now he is the new King of Far Far Away and Queen Anna wants to do the best for their kingdom called Arendelle because now she is the new Queen of Arendelle, but at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Queen Anna become best friends in the world, because at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, they both learned from their mistakes that they have made since their challenge to compete to see who is the best monarch of a kingdom, that is, the best ruler of a kingdom, and that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, King Artie and Princess Guinevere see their first true love kiss and that they become a romantic couple, just like Prince Lancelot and Princess Tiffany, and also that at the end of the Shrek 5 movie, Maui, Hiccup Haddock, Kristoff Bjorgman, Jack Frost, Prince Lancelot and King Artie become the new official members of the Official Disney Princes, while Queen Anna, Princess Elsa, Princess Mirabel Madrigal, Princess Tiffany and Princess Guinevere become the new official members of the Official Disney Princesses and that one day, Princess Tiffany will be the wife of Prince Lancelot and that they have a son and a daughter, that is, a family in the future, and that also Princess Guinevere is the wife of King Artie, that they also have a son and a daughter, that is, a family and that she becomes the new Queen of Far Far Away in the future.

I was 5 when the the renaissance era started and got to grew up with it see why it was successful as it was but I wouldn’t say the revival era was as successful as the renaissance era cause by that time the sequel had become more of a expectation that the revival era became sequel heavy with 3 sequels to Toy Story 2 cars sequels Ralph breaks the internet the incredibles 2 frozen 2 and the movie that lived up to Walt’s motto of doing right the first time u won’t need to sequel it from this era is werckin Ralph cause to me the movie’s story is told and concluded so well in the first movie there wasn’t a need for Ralph breaks the internet

I didn't love this era. For me, The Disney Revival is not worth The Disney Renaissance which is my favorite Disney era. I didn't like the majority of films from this era. The only film from this era that I liked was The Princess and the Frog because it was the only 2D animated film. Well, there is also Winnie the Pooh but he has completely gone unnoticed. I stay, I didn't get hooked because it was much too childish for me. And the fact that since Rapunzel, Disney has definitely moved to 3D animation and that now their films resemble Pixar rather than Disney! They're not even worth the first part of The Disney Post Renaissance/The Disney Experimental. Fantasia 2000, The Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure Planet and Brother Bear which I love and which marked my childhood just like The Disney Renaissance.

Guess you must have missed one of the previous comments I left when I stated why this "Disney Revival" from the last decade is *NOT* a true revival of Disney animation and why it *DOESN'T* work. Because it can never be a true revival of Disney animation if Disney's very style of animation is meant to be 2D animation. So quit being like everyone else wanting to spread around and encourage this whole deceptive lie to the point of our own self-delusion and just see all this BS for what it's really been: not the true revival of Disney's feature animation but the misguided perversion of it that's been *killing off* the studio's true animation.
@lilac3266
@lilac3266 Год назад
or hear me out? the medium of animation isn’t crucial to the soul of the studio it’s the memorable stories and characters that made it work? you cant say the revival didn’t work after the flop of the 2000s. Frozen despite not being the best quality wise skyrocketed disneys success and that has continued up to 2021. Strange world is really the only failure of this modern era maybe including raya and Ralph breaks the internet. But everything else worked incredibly well

@@lilac3266 Disney animation legend Andreas Deja once said it best in my book: "If you take the drawing out of Disney, it just isn't Disney." No, it really isn't. By this point it's essentially just an extension of Pixar, because Disney was discouraged away from the studio's true animated films by *Pixar* , and were only pushed further away after being put under the creative control of the people from *Pixar* . People who could have cared less about wanting to keep the identity of everything that had always defined what Disney's animation was as much as they've just cared about pushing all of their CG animation into the industry in the first place. The "Revival Era" of Disney animation has been one massively misleading, corporately misguided, perversive, and self-corrupting lie, and to ever hear otherwise never fails to piss me off when it's this very decade of movies that had been taking from me everything that Disney's animation ever *was* for me, and as far as I'm concerned what it's rightfully supposed to still be for everyone else. Also Frozen was intended to be one of the next big returns of Disney's 2D animated movies (the studio's true animated movies) early in its development, until Pixar's John Lasseter and Ed Catmull cheated us out of it by pushing it as 3D, so that whole damn franchise can burn alive for all I care.

Nah. It didn't really work. It was playing it too safe for the most part and was REALLY milking the whole deconstructive route and while it earned a lot of money, the only good movies were Tangled, Moana, Zootropolis and Encanto. But even they didn't really feel that innovative.
@Alucard2091
@Alucard2091 Год назад
Not innovative meaning? - Tangled closest to Shrek w/o being too modern & meta. Official stable to Disney animation - Moana its captivating setting - Zootopia evolution & subtle racism. - Enchanto I assume cause family conflict made it standout.

@@Alucard2091 I meant in terms of animation, not themes. Revival Era's animation only improved in quality, but in terms of visual storytelling it was very repetitive. The problem is that the movies are too corporate and don't have enough soul. And notice I say they don't have "enough", not that they lack it entirely. Also, Tangled belongs to the Experimental Era, not the Revival Era. Although you COULD say Tangled gave the blueprints for the Revival Era.

I know this video probably does not concern the Disney Channel Descendants TV movies, but they were still made in the Disney revival-renaissance era, and if you have watched the Descendants trilogy for yourself, I want to hear your thoughts on why they did or didn't work. I made two videos explaining why I thought they worked, and it was because they adapt what we liked about Disney's classic animated fairytales in the medium of live-action, while finding a new story to tell with both old and new characters, something the Star Wars sequel trilogy failed to do in the same years. I also found it really neat that the first Descendants movie is somewhat like the first Wreck-it Ralph movie, since they both have a main character who starts out as a villain since they were unlucky to be born into that role, but they want to redeem themselves and be accepted among the heroes, and learn how tough it is to be a hero when the end does not justify the means, such as Mal making love potion cookies to get Ben to love her and not love Audrey, or Wreck-it Ralph stealing a medal from Hero's Duty for the Nicelanders to welcome him to the 30-year anniversary party of their game, Fix-it Felix Junior. Descendants might have also done a better job than Wreck-it Ralph at writing sequel stories that continue with the same themes of the original film, when Mal's villainous past catches up with her in the form of Uma fighting her in the second film and Audrey turning more evil in the third film. Ralph Breaks the Internet never found any such complex material to cover with Vanellope or Ralph's central conflict, but it is because of Descendants sharing these crucial plot elements with Wreck-it Ralph that I really enjoyed seeing Vanellope crossing over with all of the Disney princesses in Ralph Breaks the Internet when she came to Oh My Disney, and got them all to save Wreck-it Ralph when he fell from the Google tower.
