To be fair, even Jordan Peterson mentioned "European state". The EU is NOT a state, it's a Union. Somehow many people from North America just don't understand that Germany, France, Italy, or Poland are not the same as Texas, Ohio, Florida, or California, and the EU is not something like the US.
@MrEdrftgyuji

@@HeroChestnut The EU was meant to be a trading agreement between a small number of European countries. It likes to think of itself as a state, and effectively acts as a state with the power they have been grabbing for decades. Hence the point JP was making about the "European State".

@@mypointofview1111 i agree, I've done some in depth study of most of Europes history. You guys (the EU and the EU pro) are a far cry from the HRE and you are far more authoritarian now than you were even 20 years ago. The structure that the videos from inside the meetings of the EU look more like a meeting of the CCP with the niceties taken out and switched for pure hypocritical vitriol, hate, and racism (and i mean real racism none of this watered down "mommy he said I'm not special" BS from the US and England) well it's easy to see the EU splitting up or being rendered ineffective within this decade, because why should the smaller states suffer for France's failings? Why should Germany keep paying for smaller states who don't do anything to improve themselves? Why should the citizens of a city suffer economic hardship so the citizens of another across the country can live off their hard labor? Because the state, well then they'll replace it with someone who isn't preaching down at them while they see their standards of living destroyed just to fulfill the ideology of a elite few. And when the EU tries to tell them "no you can't vote to say we won't take in 200 million shiria compliant muslims into our strained economy, well what is either going to do? Will the people just suddenly be enlightened, or will they say "no we already decided"? Will the EU crack down and remove their independence or will it just sit back bitter that it cannot control an entire nation? Many in the EU's seat of power are already openly talking about it as if it's the European Empire, meanwhile the people in it fiercely disagree with those people's views, and the EU, unlike the US wasn't structured correctly to deal with this type of insurrection, they already lost Britain, they could lose more or as they already have a large dissatisfied faction demanding change, while another large currently enraged faction is demanding more power. Europe has changed more in these last couple years than most people assume, but drawing from history, well switch out Protestant and Catholic for Nationist/Libertarian and Globalist/Socialist and you might get what's brewing in the EU. Will this break into war? Unlikely, but at the same time certain people in Europe due to Britain's actions have been pushing bills and making statements to suggest that it'll be impossible for anyone else to peacefully leave...and well with that you can't tell me that they aren't now trying, if they weren't before, to become a European Super state

Very strange. I was told eventually that Greek law stated you didn't have to pay property tax until a building was finished and that's why so many buildings were never finished. Some countries have more than others, the greeks have lots. Also they cheat by not recording transactions, that's grey market. Run of the mill communism. Still don't understand? Maybe you should think a little harder. Doesn't matter really. Every western nation is technically bankrupt. We are and will be unable to collect as much taxes as we spend. Mathematical laws dictate that with compounding interests in these sircumstances, hyperinflation is just around the corner. Every fiat currency will be going down the drain, including Germany. Dobin dobs The term "European state" is more of a colloquial one. It demonstrates that Europe is increasingly becoming a singular, increasingly unitarized superstate. When people employ the term "European state" they are making a distinct, analogous reference to Europe in its current condition - not as an official or alternative name for the European Union.
@GSergejj
@GSergejj 6 лет назад
I think he is completely right. I am from Switzerland, a European country that has never joined the EU and also a country with a subsidiary political system (bottom-up system), where most of the problems are solved at the lowest level (at the community or town level) if possible. It's a really effective system to deal with the various problems that different regions of the country have (region a might not have the same problems as region b). The advantage of such a system is also that it is very hard to implement policies that the majority of people don't agree with (as the people always have the option of a referendum). It forces political actors to seek consensus. It is harder to implement new policies, but the policies that are implemented are backed by a majority. And yes, the democratic legitimacy of the EU is a also huge problem. What is more, eastern EU countries and Italy are highly corrupt and these politicians ususally end up at the EU level (as wages are better there and it is also a way to deal with politicians who want to retire from national politics). So you can imagine how hard it is to negotiate with the EU whose structure is mostly influenced by the centralistic French political system and is run by politicians and bureaucrats with very limited democratic legitimacy. So yes, the EU needs reforms or it will fail. If the EU could become more democratic and the system more bottom-up, Switzerland might one day join the club. But honestly, I don't believe that they will be able to do it.

A terrible idea I'll be honest, and I don't mean to bash on the Swiss system, it's great when you have a realtively small population that isn't too varied in it's values, and for decisions that can be made locally, it's about the worst idea you could possibly have for a system spanning hundreds of millions of people from Spain to Estonia, Sweden and Greece. You need compromises, and that always means a minority will also lose out, otherwise you end up needing close to unanimity, which kills any decision making completely, which is in turn even less democractic, like letting a singular country block a motion against all remaining members, which is the issue right now. You can't argue the EU is undemocratic because it isn't from the bottom up, the criticism with European democracy is that it's very beureaucratic, the European Comission is not directly elected by the citizen even though it is the executive of the EU, and the EU parliament does not have the power to propose legislation, even though they are the organ voted for directly by European citizen. Hence a small minority within a singular country can block what would be a majority due to unanimity requirements, and some people think things should be more directly elected. The EU is still mostly run by the states that make it up, even though it's central institutions have been growing in power, especially within the last two decades, but the nation states still hold the majority of the cards. The Parliament as Council are as democratic as any country though, figuratively since the parliament is directly voted for by the citizen in each country, and literally since the council is made up from each head of state, meaning however democratically elected a head of state is, that is just how democratic it is in the EU, since it's the same election we are talking about. The commission could arguably be made more democratic, although it is still a measure if indirect democracy, since the EU council, or in other words, the head of state you voted for, gets to suggest who should be on it, and then the parliament, who you also voted for, needs to decide wether they are acceptable. It's not a direct mandate, but they aren't some weird beuraucratic dictatorship by any means, although I suppose you could call the commission partially technocratic. Either way, I apologise for the long comment,I just wanted to clear up some of the confusion about the EU system.

The big problem with the EU is that the idiots implemented a monetary union without having first a fiscal union to support it. You need a homogenous area to implement a single currency in a stable fashion. After this fact, the EU creeped it's mandate towards a political union in order to enforce this fiscal union in order to save the currency. It makes me wonder if this was by design in order to push the EU superstate forward. Right now, the EU is heading towards inevitable failure indeed because of this, member states will not stand for a political union in this fashion, they will move away from the EU either peacefully or by force. Greece is stuck in it's current predicament and needs to devaluate in order to pull out from this shit. Since that isn't a viable political option right now, the people eventually retake matters into their own hands, and if history is an indicator, them greeks aren't to be messed with once they're riled up.

We paid taxes because we are forced to do so, otherwise nobody would do it. Regarding the EU, this is a highly complex matter and it is no way comparable to the States. The EU was born as an economical/trading union is not as a big State, and it will never be, but the growing number of taxes, laws, etc makes very difficult to understand where the UE should be going. Greece could be a mess, but saying that nobody pays their taxes is an oversimplification. Do not forget that the European Institutions created to ensure the implementation of their policies were aware of what was going on in Greece, but they decided to look the other way. And German State was one of the main actors in the whole Greek Affair...

We pay taxes, as individuals, because we fear being punished as individuals if we don't. What he meant here is that we could all stop paying taxes if we all did it together. They can't lock us all in jail. So why don't we all stand up and stop paying? The problem is that so many people think that taxes are a good thing, and they don't want to lose the things those taxes pay for, because they believe that the govt. is actually there to help them, to serve them. The vast majority of people don't realize that politicians are really just very sophisticated parasites who bribe us with "free stuff" to get us to pay them money that they don't really earn. The people of Greece figured out that they outnumber their parasites and decided that they don't need the "free stuff", so they stopped paying them.

@@JenkinsBattery You're right, but I disagree. LOL Yes, modern govts. are so convoluted, there's no way we could simply stop paying taxes and expect everything to be A-Ok. First of all, we need to convince everyone, not only that they CAN survive without govt, but that they'd be better off without it, and even then we would have to cut govt. spending gradually so that the services it provides can be replaced by private providers and charities. Since all of that goes against the nature of govt. and the nature of popular voting, I'm quite sure that'll never happen. Secondly, if we did suddenly stop paying taxes, the govt. would just print more money and borrow more from other govts., like they already do, so we would have to stop taxes worldwide and stop all govts. from printing their fiat currencies. Obviously that's not going to happen in our lifetime. Third, what will most likely happen is that the govt. will crush itself under the weight of it's already astronomical debt, no matter how much they tax us, and it will collapse, taking society with it just like it did in ancient Greece. Therefore, since ending taxation will essentially have the same effect as what is inevitable anyway, the choice really comes down to whether or not we want it to happen sooner rather than later...

Brothers or sisters, the kingdom of GOD is near, we need to repent and believe in Jesus Christ, so that our sins can be forgiven, and we can have eternal life. If we don't believe in Jesus, we will die in our own sins. Lying, Stealing, murders, evil heart, revellings, hatred, emulations, arrogant, strife, Envyings, commit adultery, seditions, bad words, porn, didn't honour father and mother, worship idol, homosexual, fortune teller, black magic, blasphemed GOD, claiming self to be GOD, calling a man as GOD, worship things made of gold, silver, wood, stone or other materials, worship animal as GOD, against GOD, did not want to repent and believe in JESUS, take the name of GOD/JESUS in vain and other evils things, these all are sins. If we did 1 of these things before, it makes us sinner. If we continue to do these things or sinning, we will die in our own sins.We need to repent through Jesus, to make our relationship with GOD good again, because There will be a judgement day 1 day, The people who believe in Jesus Christ and follow his commands will enter the kingdom of GOD, but the people who don't believe in Jesus and done evil/bad things/sinners will enter Hell. Only Jesus can give you joy and real peace in your heart, only Jesus can forgive your sins, only Jesus can lead you to be a righteous man. No other name except JESUS can save your soul and lead you to heaven. This is about our eternal life and eternal death, so believe in Jesus and repent(Confess to GOD that we're sinner, stop sinning and follow Jesus teaching), to save our own soul and life. Repent, and be baptized every one of us in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and we shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Spirit/Ghost will guide us on how to become a righteous man, live and work according to GOD's will. Lord Jesus said: luke6: 37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: You can read BIBLE online by searching it on google, you can start read from the book of JOHN. You can learn Jesus teaching from there. Here's one: www.esv.org/John+1/ If you have any stress, problem in your life, you can pray to Jesus and ask for His help, Jesus will listen to your prayer. I'm not informed enough to speak on the EU. As an American I must say that we may be a superpower, but our foundation has started to wither. There's practically a culture war going on and internal tensions haven't been this high since the 1960s. Although this time around it's worse than the 60s. Currently at least 26 people have died as a result of the George Floyd Civil Unrest, neighborhoods and entire towns have taken up arms to defend themselves, Black Lives Matter protesters are attacking Christians, liberals have established autonomous zones, and the division between liberal and conservative is stark. Trump, is the more patriotic of the candidates, but there's something off about all this. It feels as if the elite are blatantly revealing their corrupt intentions and most Americans are too engulfed in politics to realize it. The US is really starting to resemble a developing country (socially at least). Our country is currently only united in name. If our country is to continue to prosper there will probably have to be some major changes now or in the near future.

@Lightnings

That's a compliment. 🇩🇪 Greetings.
@Lightnings
@Lightnings 4 года назад
charlie rammstein It's a very good question. I feel like what's happening in Germany now is not a good evolution (Entwicklung). We do have the left ruling and people are mostly leftist, some far left, some radical left. That's because people are shamed for having a different opinion. You get compared to N*zi very quickly and that's the ultimate devaluation of any valid argument you might have. You get right to the bottom of accusing someone of the worst possible intention. Right wing views, even if they are not radical, are not accepted by the average German and you are called out as fascist N*zi way too fast. The right and the left need to talk, just like Peterson said, instead of calling each other stupid names like overgrown children! The refugee crisis was too much for Germany, too much for our social system. The problem here is: Immigrants rarely immigrate in Germany. They just move over and bring their dominate culture. Paired with Islam that brings huge differences. They live out their being in their own groups, the people who are close to them are mostly from their home country. And no wonder, I don't say that I don't understand it. It's a natural human instinct to stay with people you can relate to rather than with absolute strangers. It's just not good for Germany. And I care about the health of my country. 🇩🇪 My biggest worry is the existence and further emergence of parallel societies. Turks stay with other Turks within their Turkish community ever since they moved to Germany in the 60's. It's the same pattern now with refugees from Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq and all those countries. It wasn't just Syrian refugees who came to Germany to escape war in 2015... Angela Merkel is not central anymore and neither is her party which is the biggest party in Germany (CDU), traditionally. They all moved further to the left and crave social justice. As I stated already, it's difficult to have an opinion that goes against mainstream in Germany. That's because, as far as I can tell, people are too afraid of our own past and never forgive our ancestors. It's time to forgive, I say. But never forget. Never forget what happened and what that tyrant Hitler brought. He brought pure evil and destruction, suffering. Never forget Holocaust. Let's talk about parties: I'm personally not far right-wing and don't wanna vote for AfD party because there's some people that you could describe as actual fascist. They like to generalise and stigmatise foreigners. That's not my approach. I don't blame them for everything. But there are problems because immigration does NOT work here. I don't wanna vote for CDU anymore either, because the party got literally flooded with leftist people. Maybe FDP but they are pure capitalists and lack some common sense. It's my favoured party though, currently. Gotta choose the lesser of two evils. I hope this answer was sufficient. I like your name btw, Rammstein is an awesome band! Maybe you're German too, I don't know. Have a good day everyone.

@@Lightnings I disagree. Lots of things that happened here especially in the last months indicate that Germany is about to become even stronger. Handling the crisis MUCH better than every comparable country in the western word as well as great decisions to recover the german industry proof that we actually have GREAT leadership (check the US on the other hand to see what terrible leadership can do to a great country) and a much brighter future than most people think. Especially IN Germany people (probably for historic reason - "german guilt") tend to think way too negative about the country. I personally didn't like what happened in 2015 but recent years (actually almost everything that happened since ww2) clearly demonstrated that if there is a country that could handle these events and actually make them an advantage, it is Germany.

Sort of. If you look at the deficit in terms of % of GDP, or total productivity, the US isn't in as bad a spot as most people think. As much as I appreciate Jordan Peterson and I find his lectures of great value personally, he tends to get it horribly wrong when he starts talking about economics. The problem with Greece is/was not about the fact that they don't pay taxes. That's propaganda that fits right-wing ideologues' narratives. Greece was brought into the EU under the pressure from German banks, because Greeks in fact have always been hard-working, thrifty people who had no private debt. A population with assets and no debt is a bankster's dream. So, once Greece joined the EU and the single currency, its debt (both private and public) immediately sky-rocketed as it was flooded with cheap credit, speculation became rampant, corrupt government officials sold out what there was to sell and within a short period of time the entire country collapsed. Also, there is no such thing as the European State. And it's not even a useful mental shortcut, because it completely distorts reality.

WinJinn Structural changes in an economy take time to materialise. 40 years is just about right. Also, the Euro is not required to make the argument I was making. It was about private debt differentials. When Greece joined the eurozone in 2001 the problems were exacerbated. There is a deeper part to this story too but perhaps it’s not the place. Let’s say that someone realised that Greece is about to collapse and default. The Euro effectively protected the predatory financial institutions from Western Europe from taking responsibility for their inability to assess credit risk and greed.

Also, you must understand that just because a particular explanation seems common sense does not mean it's true. That is the problem with intellectuals like Jordan Peterson. When they enter an area they have only superficial knowledge about, their followers who are equally ignorant on these topics will believe every word they say. Peterson has allegedly (and I do believe it) spent decades delving deep into psychology and philosophy. For him to be able to make definite claims about the global economy I would expect at least the same amount of time devoted by him to these topics. Otherwise it is just propagating common-sensical but untrue propaganda.

@@BuJammy Dr. Peterson's not talking about specific countries in Europe. He's talking about the EU as a whole. As a united conglomerate of nations, Europe hasn't been through anything, and the EU is already showing signs of collapse. This is the point he's making. Not that specific countries inside the EU haven't historically recovered from great trials. Also, the US is a very young country when compared to the nations of Europe. And still, at less than 250 years old, it's already had a profound impact on the rest of the world. For example, had it not been for US involvement in WW2, the whole of Europe might be part of a thriving Soviet Union. So saying that the US would not have survived some of the things European nations have, is a bit premature. Only time will tell.

How funny you mentioned the middle-line between left and right as ideal. I've heard the talks about like "the green liberal Europe". Which, as a European, sounds pretty reasonable. The biggest problem with the EU is that it's way too big, and looks more like a federal state now. Which nobody wants. The best solution would be to have it as some sort of formal platform, and leave the most issues to the nation states. That would be to like return to the "old and gold Europe" (which time that was, who knows who cares.). But I support the EU as a concept, but I would like it to be a formal platform rather than some federal-state-esque thing (that way, people can just mind their business, and EU is not in the way and people don't care about EU, then).

i am from greece, and i agree with a lot of these points. europe is dysfunctional. as an american economist said when they made it, they were trying to make the "US of Europe". the problem is they could not go all the way because the states would not give up their sovereignty. that lead to a lot of problems because they had no way to watch what each was doing. also there was no plan for when the interests of one state came at odds with the interests of another. for example a lot of greeces' debt comes from its military spending. we are in a cold war of sorts with our neighbor turkey. so if they wanted to help us pay them back their money they could have just had the european council sign a document guaranteeing our borders so that we can put more money into rebuilding the economy. but germany has a history of getting along with turkey (not counting the last two years) and is also making a lot of profit selling us guns. so it was in their interest that the situation remain as it is. what kind of a union of states is that?
@florianlion8215
@florianlion8215 2 года назад
Yeah that’s kind of true. I’m from Germany and I think our relationship with Turkey nowadays really became a problem over the years. Currently we have a population of about 5Million Muslims in Germany - with the largest part of them coming from Turkey. About 20 years ago the government signed a bill that made young Turkish people who live here getting the German citizenship for free - wich makes them now actually EU-citizens as well. If you look at the politics of Turkey nowadays on the other hand you can clearly see that things have changed. Erdogan just does what he wants and he has no respect for the EU borders or anything. So I think it really is time to point the way into another direction regarding the relationship with Turkey. I think people in Europe nowadays need to stick together more then ever and Turkey is no part of the EU.

The EU is de facto a Confederate State with ambitions to grow larger to a somewhat more federal structure. With an own army, anthem, etc. EU Legislation overules all national laws. So the EU of today might not be a solid state like for example the US, but the foundations are there, as are the ambitions of EU politicians. It presents itself to the outside world as a unified state. Jordan Peterson is right in most aspects. The EU is already functioning as a Confederation and will only grow to a more centralised power structure. I for one find this scary since we had a referendum in 2005 in which France and the Netherlands voted 'NO' for the EU constitution. Now EU politicians despise the people because 'they just don't understand' so from then on people don't have a chance to vote anymore about European stuff. Now politicians decide. As they did with the treaty of Lissbon in 2009 which aimed at imposing the 2005 Constitution gradually instead of at once. People see this undemocratic behaviour and that is exactly the reason why more people in the EU are resenting it. I for one can't wait till it's dismantled. The founding principles of the EU are great and I support them fully. However, the EU has been captured by unelected fanatics who dictate their will uppon us.

χρονης κ. They actually want even more power than the US Federal Government has. There is no limit as far as control is concerned. The evidence is that 'they' hate the nation state, and have advertised that 'nations create nationalism and nationalism creates war.' They hate that Germany can say jump and enough nations say 'how high' that QMV is meaningless as it's effectively a German vote for what Germany wants. They want and will get the nation states demolished under the guise of regional and city assemblies, they have already promoted this as 'bringing democracy down to the people' what a ridiculous statement. Regions and city assemblies will be non legislative, they won't produce laws, as to do so would be contrary to subsidiarity and proportionality as region 12 can't have laws which may effect people from region 13 when they visit, they will just run their areas like super-councils, police EU rules and laws and be a conduit for the application and implementation of grants and subsidies. They will be self sustaining meaning regional taxes as well as federal taxes, and the lord help them if the can't as their MEP's will be at the beck and call of the Commission to get any financial help. So there will be only one legislature the Commission, what happens to the Council is anyone's guess as there won't be any countries to send representatives and too many regions and cities to effectively make the decisions currently made by the council, (ever wonder why Junkers wants to be president of the Commission and now the Council, dictator in waiting perhaps) Then there is the EP, poor little MEP's stuck between pleasing their region's electorate to retain their place at the trough and trying to get a deal for them and pleasing the Commission who will provide it. The people who designed the new Europe did it through decades of well thought out actions and every step so far, barring the occasional blip, is going as planned, except for Brexit which has annoyed them even more than you would believe, the audacity of the people to not go with the plan. I sincerely hope the EU dies a death without taking the people who have been lied to for year by their national politicians dying with it.

Both you and Peterson are dead wrong. For one a confederation consists of independent nations which elected to work together based on a treaty while retaining full sovereignty. The EU members handed over part of their sovereignty to the EU institutions hence it simply cannot be called a confederation. It's not a federal state either since outside of its competencies (through the various treaties unanimously agreed upon by the member-states whose governments have the power to conduct foreign policy and bind their nation) the EU has no say in the internal politics and policy of the member-states. If the EU oversteps its bounds any member-state or even every citizen can appeal to the Court of Justice of the EU which is wholely independent of the other institutions. EU legislation is proposed by the Commission and voted on by the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers: the EP is elected by the EU-citizens and the Council of Ministers is made up of democratically elected representatives of the member-states. How exactly is this undemocratic? Where are these 'unelected fanatics who dictate their will upon us' you speak of? In almost any democratic nation on earth the laws aren't voted on by the citizens directly but by their chosen representatives: how is this different than how the EU works? The only political institution that is not elected democratically is the European Commission and they don't have the power to make law: they can only propose bills (in a manner of speaking) and carry out EU legislation. If you object to EU policy you should blame your EU MP's and members of your government who actually make the laws and they are quite certainly democratically elected given that all EU-members are democracies under the rule of law. If you have a problem with politicians deciding policy (which is their damn job) you should move to Antarctica or any territory where there is no government and hence no politicians. The problem with referenda is that a lot of people simply do not understand what the issue is about, what the EU is and how it operates as you so aptly demonstrated. Hence they are very susceptible to propaganda and lies as the brexit campaign made crystal clear. As sir Winston Churchill famously remarked the best argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter. If it were mandatory for each voter in EU-referenda to prove they actually knew the facts (regardless of how they feel about it or their political leanings) I wouldn't have a problem with it but that clearly isn't the case. How is it reasonable to decide on something one doesn't have a clue about? How many EU-citizens of voting age have a working knowledge of EU law or its history? How many take the time to inform themselves about current political issues through unbiased sources? How many actually care about the long term effects of certain decisions and are able to properly assess the pros and cons of each position? If the EU ever falls apart the likely result is war or at the very least large scale impoverishment and unseen economic competition not to mention vassalage to nations that were smart enough to realize cooperation and unity is better than the alternative. Be very careful what you wish for.
@linusverclyte4988
@linusverclyte4988 6 лет назад
William Ferguson. Were you drunk when you wrote that? There is a very definite limit to the power of the EU institutions as they only have competence over matters granted to them by the treaties which were voted unanimously by the member-states. In order to for the EU to 'demolish the nation states' all governments and parliaments of the member-states would have to agree to their own dissolution. Do you really not see how silly you sound? You seem to excell at conjuring up political fantasy based on nothing but your own prejudice. Try your hand at political fiction instead of spouting nonsense and conspiracy theories. The EU wasn't 'designed through decades of well thought actions' or else it would work a whole lot better and the whole construction wouldn't be so piecemeal and haphazard. It's now more democratic than it has ever been and in order for the Commission to become the sole legislature (in reality it has no voting nor veto power) the EU treaties would have to be rewritten thoroughly: something which no member-state will ever agree to as it would negate the influence they have through the Council of Ministers and the Council of the EU. The only alternative is a bloody coup d'état: who exactly will execute this? The men in black helicopters? The illuminati perhaps? My guess would be that you're a Brit who's starting to realize the enormous mistake his country has made leaving the EU and now feels the need to exact some petty revenge. Other than some form of mental illness I don't see any other reason why anyone would completely go off the rails and mistake fantasy for reality. Nothing of what you wrote here is based on actual fact: it all exists solely in your head. Wake up and smell the psychosis already. If any of this would be even remotely true why on earth do they not hasten to declare their support for Catalonia in their quest for indepence from Spain? After all it would be a great first step towards 'demolishing' the nation states wouldn't it? Do enlighten us great prophet: take some mescalin or psylocibin and reveal to us the future....

They don't tell or show you the part where the "victim" was spitting covid in their faces or dropping the cops on their heads or rushed for a cops weapon when there's almost always more to the video that shows all of these things. Why do you think they would ever leave out those details?
@commonsense9173
@commonsense9173 3 года назад
@Alex Pounder I have thought heavily on that very thing but the truth is that the UK police solve a lot less crime. They try but they've had their teeth taken from them. A criminal has no need of force when they're probably going to get away without needing it. Floyd was a big dude, he was also obviously on drugs and announcing he was spitting a deadly contagion on the cops with a history of violent resistance and violence toward regular non police citizens. The final bit of the video with zero context is horrible optics for sure but with everything else factored some people are less deserving of someone going easy on them and floyd was one of those people and it wasn't the knee that did it, his heart did what hearts do when on Fentanyl or meth and he was on both. Any stress inducing situation would most likely caused that particular heart to stop beating and it's a shame but you cant blame the cops for the drugs in his system and you cant blame them for knowing how he was. You don't have minorities in the UK trying to create subcultures and when they do they arent violent subcultures like a lot are here in the states. 13 percent of our population happens to commit half the violent crime and murder here and no amount of policy will stop humans from noticing such a shocking trend but when that isnt talked about it makes us or at least our cops look really racist because that 13 percent is the same demographic. I'm in no way saying they're that way because they're of that demographic, but that they are suffering the negative side effects of developing a violent subculture, which any demographic is capable of doing. They obviously didn't do it in the UK. Sorry for letting it get long winded, there's a new language and layer of clarification required for certain topics if people can't see you to notice you arent white and I don't want side comments from other people calling me, a black American, racist just because they think I'm white for the stances I take.

The EU should have started out as the powerhouse nations getting together. Then, after they work out a system that works well for all of those powerhouse nations, other nations could apply to join the union. This would create incentive for the corrupt and economically weak nations to better themselves and would also prevent nations like Germany and the UK from having to support the weak nations like Greece.

The US government deals the economic shit to people quickly and doesn't try to hide the fact. People have to build a new start. The EU makes every crisis long by sweeping it under the carpet. It's a terrific success story except for the fact that the EU is basically communism through the back door. The EU's future was written when it changed from a trade bloc of 6 countries to a legislative dilatory bureaucratic nightmare with 28 (now 27) countries. All with different economic strength and weaknesses, tied to one currency, that is failing and everyone speaks a different language literally. It was predicted to become exactly what it became.
@pato2200

@crouchingtiger9108 your understanding is completely flawed and misinformed, and indeed uninformed. The European project was always aiming at an "ever closer political union" and a "united States of europe" as set out in the preamble to the Rome treaty. Communism? The EU was a bulwark against communism and had that raison d'etre- to make Europe self suffient in food should there be war with the ussr. It won the Cold War as much as, and more than, nato did. It's a very important concept he talks about- having a proper hierarchical order for a society and country to operate. If people feel no connection to those who have some legislative power over them, it will cause resentment in the long run. History is full of large empires collapsing- Roman, Mongol, etc and of course the American revolution itself. I think a country seems the optimal level of governance. Those people's have a similar history and values, and have been through similar challenges. People are more likely to resonate with each other, and care for each other. And a governing structure within country borders makes sense. An empire will inevitable have too many disparate factions that will consume too much energy to maintain the empire.

This kinda reminds me of the situation with NATO. Prior to 2016 when president Trump took office, the vast majority of the European nations were not paying their agreed share, and the USA alone was footing about 20-25% of the entire bill. When President Trump came into office, he made it clear that if this organization was to continue to have the support of the USA, the other nations needed to pay their agreed payments. Based on history, I believe Jordan Peterson is right that the EU will collapse, because the nations that are part of it do not necessarily have common goals/interests, and if nobody is holding the nations accountable to pay their required share, then they will eventually realize "Hey, I can just have somebody else pay while I pay nothing and reap the benefits" up to the day they are utterly bankrupt. It is an attitude that is similar to socialism, and the key reason why socialism will fail every single time. Contrast that to the USA where capitalism is the prevailing economic policy, and where people are required to pay their taxes and punished if they do not. The USA does have 50 separate states, each with their own local governments, but they are all held under one nation, by one common law, namely the Constitution. And they are all considered Americans, not a disparate collection of (insert nationality)-Americans.

In case you haven't realized: There is no European country. Europe is a continent. If you mean the European Union, it's no country or state either. There are still 27 independant countries. It's a union, not a federal republic. There is no central government, no European constitution. It may become a federal republic some day far way in the future or it may not. But comparing the US to the EU? And declaring the non-existing European state doomed? That's just ignorant. Obviously, Jordan Peterson has no clue about Europe, the European Union or the way the EU functiones. And he is ignoring the fact that almost every individual European country has at least weathered as many challenges as the United States. Some of the European countries have existed way before the American continent was even discoverd. Portugal for example was founded (as national state) in 1139, Bulgaria was founded in 681. And each European country not only has its own language, its own history and tradition but also its individual political system. There is no European nation, no European patriotism, no European army, no European school system, no European judicial system... In the EU you find at least three different lettersystems/alphabets: Latin, Greek and Cyrilic. There are 27 individual countries in the EU that decided to work together on a variety of topics. But the individual members haven't lost their sovereignty.
