The Idol is a show that I definitely feel had bags of potential in it, so it is a shame that it never really picked a route and decided to roll with it, or even handle the more serious subject matters. What did you think of the season finale? Comment your thoughts below!
I feel like with this episode and it being the finale so many confusing messages about abuse and the victims of abuse are being sent out and the audience is not interpreting it the right way either. I know the episode just aired but so many people online are now writing off the abuse that Jocelyn endured from her mother even though her whole team corroborated it because of what she did to Tedros. Saying she made it all up. Now with these last two episodes the show is trying to to make us feel sympathy for his terrible character. Not mention Robs career being the casualty of these two, and it not being clear if Joss purposely invited him over to not only have Tedros do something to him but to get back at him for cheating.
You said it, it had a lot of potential. For example that one actor - The Weeknd - was totaly underused. He would have made a great backround character or an even greater extra.
Joss being the villain only works if she’s a well-written character in the first place. What we got is that she’s always victimized by everyone else around her. There’s no character or foundation outside her trauma that will make Joss being the bad guy believable. And Weeknd becoming a true victim in the end sends really weird message to the audience. Yeah, those people abused a poor girl but they are right because the girl is the bad guy all along. Maybe we need Amy Seimetz cut like the Snydercut of this show for more female aka more Jocelyn’s perspective.

Maybe this show will end after the first season but that probably won't stop Levinson in making more stuff like this. Depends if the HBO executives still trust him or not, i hope not
I mean you can't really explain things that don't add up.... like her not wanting to speak about her trauma when they all had dinner but then going public immediately when Tedros said she should, to in the end it turning into something she apparently made up (the hair brush scene), or her going from having a break down at her video shoot to being the mastermind who outsmarted the pimp and planned it all... even the idea of using him for inspiration... how would it actually be inspiration if you did it on purpose and plan it... that's not how inspiration works... It seems more like when Sam took over the left pieces of the old plot and added his own, turned her into a villian without properly revising the beginning.
I’m constantly amazed how little story the show achieved with 5 hours worth of time. So many storylines doesn’t go anywhere, characters just changing up their behaviors from one scene to another. Writing and pacing was terrible, some scenes go on for way too long and the little red riding hood metaphor makes no sense towards the story. I can’t believe after dreading with the super long performance scene, Jocelyn doesn’t even perform? Like the whole team is there to see her give a great performance to show them that she can sell tickets and all she did was a strip tease?? how does that convince Andrew that she can sell out a stadium?? The show’s messages are all over the place. One minute they’re saying pop music is shallow, next they’re saying sex sells? Tedros being painted as this victim falling in love with the wrong girl and Jocelyn being this master manipulator is just complete bullshit and misogynistic. Would’ve love to see Leia finally stood up for herself or have one last scene with Joce before she quit, but that didn’t even happen. This show had potential, but it was just buried with so many unnecessary things. But i guess i shouldn’t expect more from Sam Levinson
Yes!! The issues are glaringly obvious-to that my brain melts even more how much the cast/Sam are protecting it as if that helps their reputations. I can’t imagine being Lily in this situation-I would lose it if a different story was set by a female, then cut and destroyed by Sam making all of it for nothing because it doesn’t even make sense. The unnecessary moments of her character minimize many moments of incredible work she put in. I just can’t get over it 😵💫
Going by at what Abel hinted during a live I interview with Zane Lowe is that hes done with the show permanently so I'm thinking this is the reason for deading all the characters to their worst so that NO ONE can miss them cus this show is never coming back Abel sounded very sure of this.
I just hope HBO would stop trusting Sam Levinson, he's not as good as what the HBO people think he is. They went from The Last of Us to Succession to Barry to this is just embarassing
This review is SPOT ON. This is the WORST show and finale I've seen in a while. It felt as cheap as a movie using the "It was all a dream" trope to tie up loose ends the writers were too stupid to flesh out.

I honestly feel sorry for Lily Rose. She was really good in this and I’m sure she thought this was her moment- but the show just fell flat. I hope she isn’t beating herself up too much because overall, her performance was the best part of this show.
i feel bad for her when you know what the show originally was before sam. it seemed different and a lot of it was even filmed (but cut). i would hate to be an actor getting on a high promising show just for some director to get on and make it just porn with a choppy storyline
The fact that they portrayed Leia as someone that could potentially bring the cult down and actually do some change but ultimately did nothing is bothering me too much. And then they did that sad scene where she left Jocelyn like we're supposed to feel sorry even though we never got to know the character and their relationship in depth. Also, where tf does she go? They just abandoned her character in the end but that's on brand for the show, I guess...

@@bingoing sam levinson is an absolute mess tbh, euphoria season 1 was so good but it seems like after that he’s just become lazy. Since he’s got the budget and success ( his shows got a lot of viewers and attention) he’s able to create whatever he wants really and he has the budget. He’s sort of abused his power and whatever he makes is overly explicit and unnecessary and the plot just gets worse and increasingly non existent each time. Euphoria season 2 he was pushing the limits with the nudity but atleast it had a few stand out good parts with an okayly satisfying ending, but the idol.. its just a bigger step down and an ultimate failure. Imagine teasing a show for an entire year just to create 5 episodes with a directionless plot and a forgettable ending. I cant even explain how bad it was and its definitely the worst tv show ive watched ever.
Genuinely one of the worst shows I’ve ever watched. She literally pays her manager to make him go away forever and 5 minutes later she introduces him to the crowd as the love of her life 🤦🏼♂️. The whole Rob storyline was unnecessary and ridiculous, we don’t know what happened to her bff lackey , she just leaves a note and bounces. I think the reaction of Hank Azaria’s character at the very end when Tedros came out on stage was how I felt about the series as a whole, like… what? I get the whole power dynamic switch that was supposed to be a huge reveal with the new brush and all that but none of it made any sense and just made the show even worse than I thought going into this episode. Absolutely horrible 🤦🏼♂️
if they cut out the unnecessary sex scenes and overly long performances, replacing them with character development, the show could have made more sense.

You should make a video about all the plot holes and confusing things that just didn’t make sense in this show! Like how did Tedros not end up going to prison for years? Why did Joss even want him back? Why was Zander down to go on tour with Joss after she straight up tortured him? Why did Nikki want to team up with Tedros after he verbally berated her in front of everyone? So many things just did not end up, felt like the story was going in a million different directions for no reason
@@artiezonkt wasn't that she lied about abuse. It was that abuse was her motivation and it was a proverbial passing of the baton to give Tedros a new brush because now he would be the one to apply the punishment to her. Willingly.
The point of her buying the brush FOR him is that SHE now has the control over him. Look at him scoffing at first when she confirms it's new, then slowly realising that he's now under her. And the stage scene jut confirms it, i mean you couldn't make it more obvious with her using his SM line 'now go stand over there' etc. I kinda liked the concept and the idea but Tedros being a lost puppy at the end kinda left a sour taste in my mouth
If you look back at the trailers before the episodes started rolling out you can see that some scenes were cut, even the "Rolling Stone did we upset you?" scene was cut

Whose side was Xander and Nikki on all along? What did they do to Tedros after he was taken away? Why did Destiny become so passive and not say anything when they were all sitting together? Wasnt she there to kill Tedros in the first place? Why were they really there to meet her? My friend and I tried watching this and we couldn't believe how young they coded the girl from the cult. She's supposed to be 17 but they had her literally skip everywhere, act extremely naive (the "woah, does she live in a hotel??? I never saw a house with a pool!!!!" line), and she was hyperactive and playing dress up like a kid. The hair/makeup/styling too. Then they immediately have her get naked and watch the main couple while they were in bed? Just disgusting. Wtf.

The worst part about The Idol for me is that it's actually a really good story on paper. A child star on her own for the first time after her abusive mother dies finds herself feeling empty and lost spiritually/musically until she gets with another abuser and together starts making the best music of her career. However the abuser alienates her from her friends and even sabotages her ex which causes Joss to break up with him. Joss however now feels that emptiness more than ever since she has no one to trust and believes the abuser is the only reason her music was any good, so she takes him back and wants him to keep abusing her. Part of this is me interpreting what the brush at the end implies, for me I felt the interpretation of it being a new brush she bought for Tedros to use felt better for the story. To me that's a pretty good story about how people can be put into these cycles of abuse because of the emptiness you feel after it's over and the self worth the abuser gives you. It's a universal theme told from a not so universal character. To me that works so well. Abuse can happen to anybody and anyone can fall into the cycle of craving that abuse when they don't quite make the adjustment to "normalcy." The Idol could've tackled that with the full weight and subtlety needed to make it work. The problem is that the focus was more put onto graphic scenes and propping up every character that wasn't Joss. This meant less time to develop Joss and so every development felt rushed and this genuine great plot got diluted to a "watch it for the plot" joke.
The show over all had a weird pacing issue. Apparently there was going to be a total of SIX episodes but during editing the probaly realised that only had enough to use for 5. Which is probably why the cast/ crew wanted a another season.
Exception for her " performance it was dare I say, too sexy for the lyrics and just not necessary as most of her ass being shown was throughout the series.
I kept hitting the 10 second forward button on my remote…Tedros was like an annoying flea the whole episode. I was yelling at the TV as to why he kept staying around. The concert filming venue being at the After Hours till Dawn was such a distraction for me.
Did not like this finale, the last 10-15 minutes cemented it for me as now we are led to believe that Jocelyn was the manipulator and Tedros is the victim??!? How were we suppose to take this show seriously and what was the point of it
They could be both manipulative in their own ways and Jocelyn could be seen as an enabler of his abuse towards her friends & staff members (se*ual harassment, drug abuse, torture). But did anybody do him wrong?
Totally agree with everything you said! The scene where everyone showed off their talents to Joss' team was way too long, when it could have been a 5 minute scene where they showed how impressed they were and that would have been better, in my opinion. And the show would have had more time to develop other things, like the part about Leia LEAVING Joss !!!!!! I needed a scene with the two of them talking, Leia saying that she can't take it anymore and seeing Joss' reaction, I don't know. I was also expecting MORE from Tedros; to me, his personality changed overnight. I feel like Joss sleeping with her ex affected him like he was in love with her or something, and he clearly wasn't. I get that it's about his ego, but still. I don't know, to me, his downfall was underwhelming, I feel like he didn't suffer that much to be acting down bad like that lmao (before Joss' team ruining his reputation). And about the ending, I think they wanted to have this big plot twist but, to me at least, didn't feel like it. And then the credits rolled after a weird shot lol. I don't know, I kind of liked the show overall, I loved the cinematography and Lily's performance, but I didn't like the finale at all. I guess it's an open finale to then add a second season, but no one knows if that will happen or not.
I thought succession was really great and TLOU, plus Velma wasn’t made by hbo, But this show was really disappointing. But at least people are talking about it instead of that woody Harrelson show.
You can definitely feel there were 2 different stories packed into one. It was choppy, the pace was inconsistent, and although the premise is interesting and there are some fun parts, the watching experience was too frustrating for me to continue to see it.

I cannot even wrap my head around how nonsensical and tone deaf the finale was. There were already multiple puzzle pieces missing throughout the entire series and the finale didn't fill anything in, it only created more plot holes. Not to mention, this entire series feels so out of place post MeToo. I'm not one for woke washing every single thing on tv, but there's just so much about this series that is disgustingly offensive to any woman who has been through legitimate abuse.
Despite being an underwhelming finale, I somehow found a sense of understanding of where this show wanted to take me. When Jocelynn broke down Tedros by humiliating him, I felt that. My mother was verbally abusive and my father violent and (oversharing sorry) when I met people I loved, there was never a time, I didn't want to hurt them as much as possible just to see if they'll stick around, it's something I struggle with today. Hurting someone just to see if they'll leave me or not want me and Tedros not taking the money showed her he wasn't there for the money and that's why she brought him back. She put him through the pain he put her through (even though she allowed him to). It's F'd up but am ashamed that part of their dynamic got to me. The rest can go to hell, it was very useless.
I knew at the end of the last episode they were going to make Jocelyn the bad guy. I literally rolled my eyes so hard 100 times during the episode I thought my eyes were going to roll into the back of my head. Like 40 minutes for the opening scene!? Also, it was so tacky to use Abel's After Hours tour at the SoFi stadium to show her during her tour. Just so inauthentic and not unique. Big yuck! I was relieved that Jocelyn wasn't naked this episode, but this was traded off for a terrible "plot twist" if you can even call it that. I guarantee they cut so much from episode 5 and 6, that they had to make it one episode. Probably because they knew people would really not like those parts. What a huge disappointment. And then the hair brush scene where she was brushing her hair aggressively,y like really Sam, have you no new ideas? A woman angrily and obsessively getting ready? To Cassie from Euphoria. Ugh!
the whole episode build up had you thinking that tedros would end up dying or in jail but the moment he ripped up the check and said something about “her being worth so much more” i just knew they were gonna pull some bs

He noticed it was new, commented she told him it was the old one. Part of me wondered if he just then realized it was new, meaning she previously made the abuse up. Made my skin crawl how they revealed her twist, not in the way they wanted to achieve. All things aside…they humiliate her character even more having Tedros come out on stage, showcasing their whole mental illness is sexy bs. Anddd no clip of the performance, just her officially losing herself to a known abuser in front of thousands that read about him, WHY.

I actually thought that Jenny was going to try and kill Joss at the concert. Definitely a lot was cut out. Such a waste of a good cast, the writers failed BIG TIME.

This show has a lot of issues, one of the biggest ones being pacing and what they prioritized showing. If you're going to have a five (even six like they originally planned) episode show, you don't have time for scenes that aren't purposeful. Multiple sex scene? Aesthetic shots of characters doing random things? All the songs? You don't have time for that unless you're willing to sacrifice the actual plot. That's why we had a six month time jump in the same episode we watched three supporting characters each sing their own song.
Was it explained why she wanted tedros back, last wasn’t there last interaction her kicking him out. Or they just wanted to weekend ti have a role in season 2.

Something I want to know is who was Xander truly working for? If Joss’ brush was new then was her mom truly abusing her? Was Xander actually lying? Did Joss asking Xander to really standby and get hurt for the fame?
I can't comprehend the fact that HBO agreed to actually aired it. It got worse with each episode but the finale really made me feel so mad, now I can't even listen to the weeknd without getting reminder of his acting
I honestly would want an episode of Tedros's life crumbling as well as revelations happening on-screen rather than casually mentioned by Jocelyn's managers.
The finale definitely seems like it was meant to be something more but then the weekend and Sam Levinson shat all over it. I also totally agree that it seems like the audience was missing episodes worth of information.

I hadn't watched an episode before this one. Read the plot of the others and watched these videos. But, even i had whiplash when she first told him to get out. I was like good, get rid of this wet piece of trash. But then she brings him back? What? Seemed like there was going to be some conflict but nah. I don't think she is a villain though. This ep shows she had the power to get rid of him whenever. That's what the hairbrush proves and what he seemed to forget. He came with bad intentions and I think that's the point of the Red Ridding Hood story. Pisses me off she let him back in though, statement or not. Though that theme does slap. Really elevated the ending for me it would have had a much different energy without it.
I sat there stunned at the ending. The one thing I did like about the show was the soundtrack. I thought that was amazing! But there was a lot of things left unsolved for example what happened with Joss's previous boyfriend's allegations of rape? What I took from the ending is not that Joss became a villain but that she found herself and was able to stand up for herself being somebody that was abused throughout her life. In the same right I didn't understand because if she found herself and she was able to stand up for herself and her and Tedros switched places in the power dynamics. But if she really found herself she wouldn't have gone back to Tedros. They spent so much time developing their characters for Tedros to be an evil, manipulative, hot head person and Jocelyn to be the submissive, broken person. Then all of a sudden they switched no problem it's hard to comprehend that without seeing some back story struggle of how they got there. I was also a little confused by Jocelyn all of a sudden becoming angry with Tedros just because she found out that he coned her into coming to the club through her friend? She wasn't angry with any of the other stuff Tedros did but that's what set her off? When I was watching this show I thought I had missed something. When she decided to sleep with her ex-boyfriend I expected more from Tedros. The show spent so much time developing his character one way and then when she betrayed him he just let her get away with it which was not his character he didn't let any of the people he delt with get away with the slightest thing. Then Jocelyn's friend that decided to leave we never even found out what she wrote in that note. I completely didn't understand the brush scene at the end. Even though these characters are super talented we watched all these characters perform throughout the whole show. I don't know why we needed a full concert scene of every single character at the end? One of the main things I was confused with at the end and I don't think I heard anybody mention this was she decided to get back with Tedros and bring him on stage in front of all her fans to declare their love but they spent so much time explaining how they ruin this man publicly outing him for being a horrible human being. In a journalistic piece that was supposed to be about Jocelyn. So all her fans read that. So if all her fans read that nobody from her fan group was upset that she was taking back her abuser? I would think that would make her lose alot of fans. Knowing all this once I heard that there was possibly a missing episode it made a lot of sense because I did feel like lost and that stuff was missing at that end episode. I agree that this show had so much potential and just didn't take it there. Because I felt like this show had so much potential and I was so into the show it just made it a bigger let down. 😢😢😢😢
I just thought that joss was as crazy and manipulative as Tedros, he just caught her at the right time bc she was weak due to her mother’s death. Now looking back on it there’s lots of hints that she’s the villain. Even in the beginning when she is instructed to feel on command was sort of a clue that she’s manipulative Still underwhelming but that’s what I got from it
No it wasn’t up till last week that it was 6 episodes. It’s been 5 for a while. That narrative randomly just started getting pushed because of the recent article published and people believed it because the original show was 6 episodes before Sam. At the festival premiere, it was 5 episodes, so it didn’t just happen, most of us just didn’t know and it helped our narrative of “oh the show sucks so it got cut short”.
Yea people including myself assumed it was 6 episodes because that’s how many shows usually do for a mini series. People are hating on this show just to hate on it lol. It’s not as bad as many make it out to be. Worst season finale of all time? Lol that’s a bit dramatic there are so many shows that are downright offensive in how bad they are like GoT.

I think GoT finale will always take the hatred cake and eat it up because despite the show going downhill for a while, none of us expected that kinda heartbreak. This show isn’t good so a bad finale is more so consistent than a shocker. The show is terrible but it’s def been a subject of review hatred because of the all the new trending RU-vid review channels, where was this energy when Sam was doing euphoria? Suddenly people were complaining about the nudity when there was even less than season 1 lol. But I’m pretty sure they wanted more of Kat and Jules and got upset when it focused on other characters instead. Again I really enjoyed euphoria season 2 even though I’ve seen many people trash it. The idol is a show I would have never even checked out if not for Sam Levinson being attached if I’m totally honest so I think it’s kinda funny people keep saying this show had sooooooo much potential while simultaneously calling it the worst thing ever I’m just like what?
I think any alternative written ending would be better even if say the Dianne and Tetros whatever his name working together is found out by joslene in the final and it sorta enrages her whilst she prepping performing showcasing in bits other performers and then the other plot of the assistant who left is doing a podcast of tweeting a audio and evidence of the cults torture and focusing on tetros since she doesn’t like him it goes everywhere just before her performance and tedros is toxic and angry threatening the other performers thinking they exposed it scene of him attacking Troyes character or sum whilst that’s happening Jocelyn does her big performance only too go too far and push herself too far injuring herself since not in good headspace or until some blood her team are on standby panicked as she goes too far again insisting to keep going and it shows she’s become self destructive and also so insecure she wants to prove her self but fails this will be a intense scene climax in the end tedros goes down, side characters are useful have stuff happen to them and Jocelyn ends up failing since she was never suited for the industry also maybe Jennie could have had a performance as one of the prior acts or covers her part at sun point
This show makes me so pissed. It had such potential. It could have been the best show of the year and it could actually be Cannes worthy. It could have been such a good show with multiple seasons… However, they took all the potential and decided they hate money and made this instead SMH.
Does anyone think the new brush was for Tedros? He is her new "mom". She threw out the old brush her mother beat her with- and got a new one just for him. ???
I thought of that too. I guess we will never know for sure but it makes sense to me because too many people knew of the mom abuse for it to all be a lie. Otherwise you would have to believe that when he was beating her with the brush he just didn't notice it was new? New brush for a new and sick relationship dynamic?
The abuse from her mother was real, but the abuse from Tedros was set up, jocelyn want to be hurt to make herself feel alive to make better music. So she faked her way into a contract by tricking the company to kick Tedros out of the his earnings and power over her contract even thou he was the one to bring it to life…but the music was real and the pain was real !
The ending confused me with Jos taking Tedros back, but I was happy with the ending for everyone. I’m not sure if I loved the show as a whole or not, but it definitely stuck with me after I finished it. I can’t get it out of my head. It was ugly, beautiful art.
She changed directions on him in the previous episode when she broke from his spell, realizing he planned it all from the start when the young singer revealed his intentions when she was on Molly.
If you didn't pick up on one of the final scenes in the last episode with the famous hair brush, none of the power play by Joss in the first half of the episode makes sense. Its is supposed to be the 'light bulb moment' for the audience when she looks over her shoulder and gives that devilish grin like "It was me". And this was ironic because in the scene where the artists are doing their show case for the producers, her tour manager refers to Tedros as "Kaiser Soze". Remember that Kaiser Soze was the weak and handicapped character who turned out to be in fact not handicapped, but a villian with a different voice and personality altogether in Usual suspects. That was foreshadowing because there was a kaiser soze in the room but it wasn't Tedros, it was Jocelyn. Jocelyn is Kaiser Soze. Where this show went wrong (among many other things), is it seems like a large part of the show was written before they decided to take it in this direction? Probably because if they reverse-engineered it, it would have been less than a shock...but similar to Dan being Gossip girl in Gossip Girl 2009, if you look for evidence of this in previous episodes it just doesn't make sense.
Obviously, the main manipulator here is Jocelyn. It seems that it was to that last moment that the stage was and she really, like an idol for everyone, has come all this way. We are repeatedly made to understand that she did not become a manipulator and an absolute narcissistic egocentric - we are told a little about the history of Xander (she knew for sure that he did not sing on purpose and about an agreement with his mother) and how she sees Leia - only as a tool for fulfilling some duties and that's it. It seems that at the beginning of the series she simply lacked inspiration, which she most likely draws from bright, but extremely unhealthy relationships (as I understand it, she developed such a pattern precisely on the basis of relations with her mother, that is, a different model of relations is absolutely unusual for her and unfamiliar, and therefore does not cause any emotions) - that is why she returns him at the end, and it can be seen in his eyes when he begins to understand that she is absolutely not a lamb and a certain fear is even read in his eyes - with such eyes we look at a person about whom we learn something that we don’t knew before and this is something impartial. I'm sure that her phrase "said" about the hairbrush and the smile at the end means that there was no episode with the hairbrush. In general, yes, these are just speculations and opinions, in order for everything to become completely obvious, more episodes are needed. But we are content with what we have. According to the result of the entire series: Lily Rose played perfectly, as for me, Weekend opened in the last episodes, conveys the emotions of the character very well. According to my impressions, the series really turned out to be about the industry, about a woman and her difficult relationships, and about a choice when a person has every opportunity to get rid of what is ruining him (relationship with Tedros) but decides to stay, because he gets in them what he needs needed at the moment. As for me, in this series there are enough moments for "thinking", they don't throw everything in the forehead, and that's great.
The red hood analogy at the end was that she wasn’t actually little red riding hood but instead the wolf pretending who she would be and eating everyone around her.
this was the worst episode in television i personally have ever seen. it was boring. dragged out. messy. confusing. horribly timed. NOTHING made any SENSE? and i didn't understand what the last five minutes was supposed to signal to us?' was it empowering? was it her going backwards? i don't know? .... joeclyn's character goes back and forth. weak, confident. can't do anything. is in total control. make it make sense-....
*I don’t think Jocelyn should’ve taken* the psychopath cult members on tour with her.. Chloe is the only one who should’ve gone with her.. Izaak was especially manipulative
its these good plots that sam levinson leaves behind, like what happened to dyanne? leia? why did jocelyn get back with tedros? why did destiny let them meet? wtf man
I just don’t understand the finale. Like at all. She lied about her abuse? Why? He couldn’t see it was a new hairbrush episodes back? Why does she still love Tedros? What was the point of her ex boyfriend and framing him? Dyanne’s character was pointless. Why did Leia leave? They spent half the episode on random songs from Tedros’s cult that advanced the show in no way. Overall, I was hoping it would end with a plot twist but this was just stupid.
Baffled as to why everyone is saying Jocelyn became thr villain....because she decided to allow Tedros back into her life? Really? How does that make HER the villain? If she recognizes that S&M makes her feel alive and in her power, and she wants that partner....yeah I just don't get it. I think Tedros' character was meant to be a true believer in his methodology. And he wasn't wrong in this story, and for thet matter- why are we OK with Pai Mei mocking and drilling Kill Bill's Elle bloody on film, but not Tedros performing visibly enjoyed manual sex on Jocelyn in front of a room full of people?
If they had kept the original director and gave The Weeknd an acting coach, the show could have been so much better. It just seems like The Weeknd just wanted to use the show to advertise his music and Sam Levinson is cringe. I’m a huge fan of Abel so this was incredibly disappointing. I will say the soundtrack is pretty good though so at least there’s that…
Lemme tell yall something bout the main characters dynamic. It's not weird its just toxic af. A lot of people don't seem to get that the relationship between Joss and Tedros is based on heavy co-dependency. This kind relationship will absolutely destroy both parties in the end. They're both victim and perpetrator at the same time. Jocelyn is not dumb. She knew what Tedros was doing but let him do it. She likes being submissive at times. (Listen to the song "Fill the void".) She gives him power for a certain amount of time and he gives her inspiration and motivation. She just waited for the right moment to take over. The Dyanne-situation in the 4th ep seemingly gave her a reason to do so. She destroyed him emotionally, exposed him and took everything from him. Cause baby it's time for a tour and Rattail can't be in charge then! She calls him back and makes sure he doesn't leave. I also don't think she lied about the abuse. The new haibrush is more like "New beginning" and "You helped me." I suppose. We all know Tedros is bad. We saw his actions and we know he went to jail for disgusting crimes so I think his level of disgustingness is self explanatory. Anyway. Agreed - still lots of confusion, choppyness and holes in the storyline. But ofc they want to make a second season so some of it is justifiable I think. Conclusion: I don't love the show but I don't hate it either. But honestly- kind of felt like a fever dream...
