Why The Idol is already the craziest show of 2023 

So instead of something actually new and interesting that deconstructs the industry and all it’s messed up secrets *the industry people* decided to do exactly what the show was originally supposed to criticise. Shocker

i do not understand why shows have to have such dark and ominous themes and have borderline pornography in order for it to be considered a tv show in todays day and age. like what happend to character development and relationship drama

The Weekend didn’t like the feminist angle that the show was about so he was the one that initiated the change. And the show is reportedly so abusive, graphic, and misogynistic which is the reason most of the crew quit, which says a lot about Sam, the show, and the Weekend.

I'm just gonna wait here for Sam Levinson's reckoning because there's something very off about that man. HOW do you get the budget to scrap something that was already almost done and completely change the story's core direction & perspective? Not even mentioning the lack of preparedness on his sets, making actors & crew miserable for unending hours on set. Being Barry Levinson's son cannot possibly have this much pull, surely? 😳

i think sex and nudity is completely fine and can sometimes be an addition to the rawness and provocation of the film. But adding unnecessary, pornographic sexual scenes that do nothing but degrade, belittle woman into seeming as objects of their naked bodies shouldn’t be a recurring dynamic in films and series anymore. Films like antichrist and boys don’t lie contain explicit and disturbing sexual content and nudity but ITS COMPLETELY NECESSARY TO THE STORY AND PLOTLINE, without the nudity and sexual content the films wouldn’t be as disturbing and important as they are now.

So I had only seen Lily in a little movie I loved called Wolf, and was excited to see her in something new. I was nervous due to it being a series on HBO then I saw the trailer and hoped dear God let it be something with a twist and not what it looks like. Well it was just what it looked like and this was an absolute disgusting disappointment. God how predictably awful. I really hoped she was going to stick to some smaller unexpected roles in a more indie style but here we are, over sexualized crap that made her look awful, basic, and uninteresting. Why, just why. Also was it part of her character to make her look so dirty unfiltered and gross in as this character because yikes 😬

They did not leave They were replaced. Also, the original director was never planned to finish the entire series as she had a hard out date for another project. People need to at least tell the truth instead of showing bias in their reports

You say 'crazy', but the only thing crazy about it is the bad dialogue and Abel's bad acting. Depp's acting might be better, but it's impossible to believe that a character with her character's past and experiences (in and out of the spotlight) is so willing to give some skeevy club rando with a rat tail, not only the time of day, but give in to his control and abuse within 2 and less-than-a-half episodes. No wonder the cannes critics canned this crap.

Leaving people dealing with these issues alone in the world with the problems they face. The reality is that a lot of people live darker lives than this everyday. The fact the film industry is finally telling the stories the news is scared to tell, or are just blind to is making an impact on the world. Letting far too many people know their not alone with these issues and showing the people blind to these problems they might be a little too hard on the people they just don’t fully understand. Giving more of these people who are blind to these issues more open opinions about people and their stories they just never took the time to hear.

If i was rollingstones and a tv show says im irrelevant, i would do everything in my power to make it "cool" to hate that show

I watched the whole thing, there was almost no point where Abel’s character wasn’t trying to nail lily rose depp. This was way more out there then Euphoria was and it comes off as unaware as it is cheesy

Just like euphoria, it seemed like it was making a single point but then addressed the consequential point if one was to lean too far into it, which is what made euphoria a masterpiece.

There's too much judging and deciding on this entire show and yet no ones seen it. Its getting weird

when the focus in a "Drama" has all the emphasis on hyper sexuality & where ANYONE is subservient to another person, this draws away from the value& importance of any storyline. Allure is one thing a porn being "whitewashed" as a drama exploiting a young persons career is not right. What she would choose after another 20-30 years & her choices now would be much different. I was honestly shocked by all the focus being on hardcore sexuality instead of how precious & delicate state this young woman is in & who in this show is there to be her solid rock? Even her "Assistant" aka Best friend does NOT tell her things are too much too fast. I will say that some of the nuances in the redo of her song were better in a way than the original. The original song was very cookie cutter cut & paste. I saw a few of Lily Rose's other movies she acted in. I want to see her art, As we ALL KNOW there is so much more to the human than simply a beautiful naked body. She is an artist, if she were my child I would NOT be happy she was doing such an exploited role in a movie. There is something of value on saving dessert for after & this TV show is like eating all the candy in a candy shop in the first 5 minutes of walking in, no breakfast, no lunch & no dinner just candy. Where is the HEART where is the substance & meat of show? Who is your audience? If you are trying to garner affection from a less radical crowd good luck, we are balanced we want to see women respected not exploited for their beauty or sexuality. We want to see her many facets as an actor, she has substance, she has value show that in the show. It is hard to say if you can save this ship from the giant rock of boredom it might accrue. People can watch graphic sexual content on the internet or for pay, it might look like you just want to portray her & her cast members in your porn but do not want to call it that. Bottom line is this comes across as all the focus is on the hyper sexuality of the characters & the manipulative nature of Tedros character. Honestly I was disappointed make her time count in this show, make her cast members count give them MORE value than this cheap representation. You have just a small sliver of an vast ocean of all the potential audience. We were expecting more, pornographic content is cheap & dumbs down her & the other cast members character. This is Johnny Depps daughter here, I cannot imagine he is that pleased.
