Fourth attempt at uploading this so hopefully if you're reading this it works
I have been meaning to make a video about The Inbetweeners for a couple of years now, but I've never been able to fit all of my thoughts into a clear, precise point until right now. It's the best show on Netflix, the best show of the past ten years, and overall my favorite show of all time...so let me tell you why!

The exploits of four friends, who are socially only marginally above what one of them calls "the freaks", are presented as they grow from their late teen years into adults and as they go on their quest, usually unsuccessfully, for such grown up things as beer and sex. Simon Cooper, Jay Cartwright and Neil Sutherland have been friends for some time. Insecure Simon's main quest in life is to get long time friend, Carli D'Amato, to be his girlfriend. Jay is the big talker whose stories, especially about his sexual conquests, are more fantasy than reality. And slightly dim-witted Neil is generally two steps behind everyone else in comprehension of life, and who is always defending his father from beliefs that he's a closet homosexual. Into the group comes its fourth member, Will McKenzie, who met them when he transferred into their school, Rudge Park Comprehensive, at the start of sixth form, as Will's newly divorced mum could no longer afford his private school tuition. Nerdish and straight-laced Will, ridiculed for carrying a briefcase, insinuated himself in the group - not aiming his sights too high - as he tried not to be labeled as one of the freaks. Regardless, he is still the target of the school's "psycho bully", Mark Donovan, and the head of Rudge Park's sixth form, Mr. Gilbert. Will's initial saving grace in bonding with his new mates may have been that they all want to shag his pretty but protective mother, Polly.

I was in Highschool when inbetweeners was released, i had a close group of 4 friends and each of our personalities were shockingly close to those of the inbetweeners (grudgingly admit i was Jay), just how insanely relatable the show was on that point alone made it amazing and the comedy was just the icing on the cake, so hilariously funny that it became a cultural icon and god help you if you didn't manage to catch the episode on a Thursday night because the entire next day at school was completely taken over by talk of the latest episode.

It's my favourite comedy of all time it's as close to my school/teenage experience as a Brit from the language, phrases and even the ludicrous experiences. I think what is so relatable is those 'new exciting experiences' you explore as you become teenagers... The expectations Vs reality. The huge excitement and huge disappointment.. and yet because you're young, dumb and horny some how you have the same ridiculous excitement for the next new adventure never learning your lesson... With the same outcome.

This was released just after I finished sixth form, my three main friends I always hung out with were fans too. It was very true to reality for us as we were basically that type of group. Not the most popular, we were outsiders a bit but largely tolerated and knew everyone else. The only major differences were that we were from Manchester and not London and our lives weren't that funny.

Great analysis of the show. I’m British and these guys are absolutely bang on some of the people I grew up with. And I’m with you on the love for Linklater as well. The man is a genius! Great video. 👍🏻👏🏻

Recently, I saw an article where Simon Bird (Will's actor) was talking about how he imagines the Inbetweeners no longer accurately reflects British school life and honestly... He's dead wrong. I just finished Upper Sixth last year and, aside from the heightened prominence of tech and social media since then, the show is still dead on with the atmosphere and writing even today.

As a 40 something year old female,I related (from teenage years) so much to the Inbetweeners too! When the first film came out I thought it would be a fairly low key event, but the cinema was packed out and the atmosphere was buzzing!

I'm a 50-something American woman who also loves this show. It makes me remember how it felt to be a teenager, but truthfully it's just a really funny show. But then I love a lot of British humor. I never saw any of the movies but would like to.

Well done on highlighting objectivity vs. Subjectivity though in all honesty, objectively the inbetweeners is also amazing. For what it sets out to do I.e, create a more authentic school comedy with amazing writing and characters you actually care about rather than unrealistic jock airheads, I can’t think of any show that does it better. Great review!

If The Inbetweeners is on TV, you watch it. Even if, like me, you have all the DVDs and watch it on streaming platforms more or less every week. When it’s on live TV, you can’t not watch it. It’s just a fact of life.

Inbetweeners took the blueprint laid by movies like American Pie and applied it to a totally uncool and 100 percent relatable setting, British life for teenagers at school. And it absolutely rocked it.

Why I think The Inbetweeners is great compared to many of the mainstream shows, is that it executed what they sat out to do and hit the ambitions perfectly.

Also I fucking love Dazed and Confused - the soundtrack really shines, despite how bad the acting was from Wiley Wiggins who literally just said his lines with the same expression every time. But I would say Dazed and Confused might one of my favourite films - I love Richard Linklater

There is a show called Plebs that i always lovingly refer to as "Inbetweeners set in ancient Rome" obviously the relatability is gone but the humour is incredibly similar.

Possibly the last truly great sitcom that wasn't tarnished about offending the snowflakes - this show, for better or worse, perfectly depicts the last 3 years of school in Britain and as a similar age I could perfectly relate to it all - all the feelings, all the mishaps with the girls, all the drinking, and all the awkwardness and attempts to fit in with the wrong crowds. It perfectly captured going through the last 3 years of school in the late 2000s/early 2010s in the UK. So much so, it's impossible to be translated for US audiences (clearly as shown by the ghastly remake) because US school students have totally different frames of references, totally different vocabulary used in general public (bus wankers/bus turds etc.) and it just would never work.

I think everyone who watched the Inbetweeners (the American one) would notice that the language was significantly toned down. For those who don't know America has stricter rules on tv and on what can be aired and said in episodes. Edit: I'm not defending the American Inbetweeners at all it's horrifically shit and will always be shit.
