There’s definitely been at least 3x more women at shows since tiktok came around
@lisaburroughs7847
@lisaburroughs7847 Год назад
Yeah but as a straight female i can tell you..most are not straight.. I stopped going to the bathroom at metal shows cause I got tired of getting felt up (yep they just come over compliment your boobs and then touch them) .i had more chick's buy my a shot trying to pick me up at a recent show then I had Guy in my entire life... Its freaking weird...Can't even say you into the D not the P Cause they come right out and say that is cause you haven't been with me....
@SuperRedhawk13

@@lisaburroughs7847 girls can act like that too, that’s not cool. I’ve had girls feel me up at shows too, its something that does happen and those people need to chill and respect that most people are there for the music, not to be hit on. Because that’s ultimately gonna drive people away from going to shows
@lisaburroughs7847
@lisaburroughs7847 Год назад
@@SuperRedhawk13 it does makes it uncomfortable because you feel like it's either the band or the venue is part of a scene..(and that is exactly what I think the venues are part of a local alternative scene) and you feel like well.. Guess I just won't go there or see that band anymore.. I go to shows to see bands not to meet people..

This. ALL of this. There needs to be more women in the metal scene. Audience AND artists.
@toyotaecw

There are A LOT more prominent women in the scene than you think. Chaney Crabb and Emma Boster are both talented vocalists. Jeanne Sagan also comes to mind as the long time bassist for All That Remains as well as a brief stint in The Acacia Strain. Edit: There really are more, the ones I mentioned are just the lesser known ones that come to mind, but I believe they absolutely deserve recognition on talent alone regardless of gender.

In the end you can push for all the social inclusion you want.. But you can't force people to be into something they do not like or can't relate to.. You don't see the rap and hip hop communities pushing for more white people and women.. You don't see them making statements that any one who doesn't agree is sus..no cause they don't give a shit.. They know not everyone can relate to the music and that is that

I've seen quite a bit of women in metalcore shows or deathcore shows as well, and I always thought it was cool to see women in metal shows defienitly more in pop punk though, but I go to mostly metalcore shows and theirs quite of bit of women there which is nice.

I went to a show in Northern VA (probably about 200-400 people there) and NO one was trying to 2-step except for this 1 girl (and me). Idk her age, but she was super into it and also very skinny, lol. I was so happy to see that and gave her props for it

It's better these kids don't have any context for what the scenes used to be. Who wants to be assaulted for walking into a vegan hardcore straight edge venue without knowing it?

I think we should allow these things to naturally occur. If women and POC want to be a part of the metal scene, go right ahead. But it’s not some thing we should go out of our way to make happen, ‘cause at the end of the day, why does it matter?
@lisaburroughs7847
@lisaburroughs7847 Год назад
Exactly.. It doesn't
@secondcoming9789
@secondcoming9789 Год назад
completely agree. It's awesome that more women and minorities are getting more into metal. But despite saying it's great no one has really answered the question "why the metal scene needs more women."
@lisaburroughs7847
@lisaburroughs7847 Год назад
@@secondcoming9789.. Why because you used the correct word scene..and a scene implies a place to meet like minded people.. In other words.. There are some people who want to go to shows to meet females that are into the music they are into.. But like I said on another post.. Metal is already part of a scene for biological females.. Just not the number of heterosexual females is lower than every other gender and as a heterosexual females i can tell you if it continues.. It's going to drop even lower because the other genders are very assertive when they got their eye on you.. And it makes for a very awkward and uncomfortable experience.. .
@secondcoming9789
@secondcoming9789 Год назад
@@lisaburroughs7847 I can’t say I fully understand what you’re saying (mainly the second half). As for the first half. Completely agree. That metal should be a scene to meet likeminded people but outside of wanting to date. Why should it matter what gender a person who’s into metal is?

I been going to metal shows my whole life but I generally keep to myself. Sometimes dudes talk to me but they tend to get on my nerves or start asking annoying-ass questions where it feels like they just tryna test my knowledge or why im here and fuck all that. Im about 10 years older than I look and these motherfuckers have no goddamn clue who tf I am 😂

@@elaceyb🙁 lol, nah. I bet it's more likely guys don't want to offend anyone or be accused of anything. I usually don't try to talk to women at shows unless they in some way seem open/friendly, and even then it can be awkward. But I do love making friends at concerts
@juicyparsons
@juicyparsons Год назад
@elaceyb nah doesn't mean you're "ugly" lol I'm black so 98% of metal fans are respectful/neutral, the other 2% have been the drunk types to come up to me asking me 21 questions about why I'm there/who I'm with/what kinda music I listen to/if I have weed lol blah blah blah 🙄
@juicyparsons

And to be fair, most of those weirdo interactions happen at the venue bar. I don't hang out by the bar anymore and people on the concert floor are more respectful of my space tbh
