The professionality of the Marshalls alone is enough for me to keep Monaco on the calendar. Every other track strives to get to the level of Monaco. Monaco isn't the most interesting racing, but it got other thing, every track doesn't need to be a 10 overtakes pr. Lap, flying cars all around kind of track

The work put into Monaco is just astounding, thanks for showing us how it works! No wonder they're able to remove cars as quickly as they do, with all that training.

TLDR: the divers protect the safety of spectators on the water, not the drivers.

Really liked the fire brigade bit and the training they go through. It would be great to see an in-depth video on that. This was informative and interesting. Thank you. And thanks to the men and women whom keep our racers safe.

The fact they are willing to put in the money, time and effort to get these people trained and provide the best safety on a track in the world, just so they can host the grand prix with effectively makes Monaco come to a halt for a week, is incredible. The Monaco GP is not just a race, its a tradition and a part of the Monegasque history. Sure nowadays it might be a little boring at times race wise, but the spectacle that is the Monaco Grand Prix is something no race will ever be able to replicate.

This was a really interesting video, within other motorsports the WRC had an event in Wales for the British round and one stage that was always run was the great Orme, this stage required divers and boats incase of one of the rally cars going off the cliff. This was all happening until the final year that the WRC was held in Wales. This sometimes resulted in the whole stage being cancelled due to storms off the Orme.

For the french speakers, Canal+ has made a pretty cool movie about the Monaco GP preparation, which I strongly recommend

Monaco isn't the only course with SCUBA divers: The Nashville PD had divers in the Cumberland River for the IndyCar race, which goes over the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

I remember when Pete Aron went into the bay back in 1966 from his accident with Scott Stoddard.

Without any hesitation it's pretty obvious the divers will be doing pre event dives for security. Checking for devices etc. It's what happens at various sites in the UK where security / threat is a consideration. They likely do similar at Montreal and any others where the circuit runs alongsise a watercourse and there is a real or perceived threat.

2:58 - rainwater is non-conductive and safe to hose off high power electric circuits inside modern F1 cars. Foam is used to cut-off oxygen to extinguish dangerous fires like burning oil. I don't understand the ethanol part because it's banned for 4 decades in F1 to use as race fuel.

Montreal does the same with the interior pond opposite of pit straight. When I was racing at Brainerd they warned us once not to crash in 8 because of the water being so deep in the swamp. Of course I saw a tail section of a bike in the swamp that weekend.

Indycar also hires a scuba dive team for the street race in Nashville in case someone crashes hard enough on the bridge and manage to clear the 10 foot gap between the edge of track limits, and the edge of the bridge

Technically the divers are not part of the F1 thing, but the regular rescue divers you have in any rescue services at large body of water.
