I've had a decent time looking at both the Steam Deck and the decade old PS Vita, and in terms of which is the more useful and enjoyable handheld, the results may surprise you.

This video really should be called "Why I prefer the PS Vita to the Steam Deck" Aside from portability this are all completely subject points and seem to apply to your particular use case. I adore the Vita and it's my go to option if I want to travel light but still want a gaming system with me. That being said I would never just chuck mine in a pocket or bag without putting it in a case first so much like Steam Deck both devices require me to stop and put them in a case when I'm done, but if you are happy to just chuck your Steam Deck in a bag it's not like that isn't an option. Plus the Deck is still getting supported and will do for many years while the Vita isn't not to mention the memory card prices, yeah jailbreaking is an option but if you get the benefits of emulation on Deck without the need to jailbreak the device. If you must travel light take a Vita, but if you travel with a backpack anyway or plan to travel for a long time/stay somewhere, take a Steam Deck, or even take both. Regardless count yourself lucky if you own either of these awesome devices.

Recently jailbroke my vita, stuck a 256gb card in it and downloaded A TON of games I purchased on the PSN over the many years. I still have 100gb of space left to do whatever with. I'd like to maybe get the Dragon Quest games running to go along with my FF 1 through 10 collection, but honestly, there are already way more games on the thing than I would ever have the time to play anyway. The thing has lasted longer than most of my girlfriends, and is way more beautiful too.

From my personal experience i think there are 3 groups of people who would get the most out of the steam deck: - People who do A LOT of travelling - Console gamers wanting a streamlined introduction to the pc market (albeit linux can be quite an obstacle for begginers) - People who like to play video games but don't want to be tied to one place whilst playing

I have a Steam Deck and I understand and agree with the criticism of the Deck not being quite as portable as advertised (or as some people wished it was). I won't criticize the conclusion or the title of the video as stating that the PS Vita is better than the Steam Deck because... of course it's not (the PS Vita is better in some ways, like how portable it is, but the Steam Deck is better in other ways...), but I respect how you reached your conclusion and understand how the title would get clicks, so it's okay. Personally, the main reason why I got the Steam Deck was because of it's versatility. I have a gaming PC, I don't have any consoles, but the Steam Deck allows me to play with it as a PC with mouse and keyboard, I can play on my couch or bed or I can connect it to my TV and play with a controller and for a dad who plays with his son and already had a library of games on Steam... the PS Vita being more portable than the Steam Deck it's just not a factor for me. Before I got the Steam Deck I did play some games with my son on my PC, like we played all of It Takes Two on the PC, but playing with someone else on a PC can be awkward compared to playing with someone on a coach, for example. You also mentioned how you can play games through streaming... well, for people with lower internet connections, the Steam Deck is just a better option. Then, there's the question of why would I play on the Steam Deck games I can play on my PC? I work all day in front of a computer, I love PC gaming but there are days when I'm just already tired of being in front of a computer and I just want to lay down and I can do that with the Steam Deck. Do I play the same games? Sometimes, sometimes not, but it's always nice to know I can. Lastly, like I said, there's the issue of versatility and having the option to do things if you want to. I can connect my Steam Deck to my TV and connect controllers and play with my son or with friends and I can connect multiple controllers with Bluetooth or if you get a dock, you can connect wired controllers. I can play on my own and I can connect it to the docking station of my laptop and it just picks up my monitor, keyboard and mouse and now I can play co-op multiplayer games with my son I couldn't before. With the Steam Deck I've been able to play Deep Rock Galactic, Left 4 Dead and other games with him that I couldn't before. So, would it be better for me to get a PS Vita? Of course not! Not for what I wanted the Steam Deck for clearly. But I'll say this though. What I do appreciate greatly from your video is this. I do think a lot of people just jump on the opportunity to get "the new thing" and you made a great point of showing that, there are alternatives to the Steam Deck that are still really good and depending on what you want it for, they might even be better. The decision was easy for me because I already had a good library of games on Steam and I didn't want to have to get a console and then get the games again and seeing how the Steam Deck not only solved the issue of playing games on a couch but also gave me the option to play in all those other ways too, it was easy for me, but for other people who are just looking for a comfortable, portable device to play on the go? They could look at different options. So although I don't agree that "The PS Vita is better than the Steam Deck" as a statement, I appreciate your video and appreciate your appreciation of the PS Vita as a device and your praise of it as a more portable device that is still very capable too.

I have a PSP 1003 model, a PS Vita 2000 model and a Steam Deck. I hate the analogue sticks on the Vita, it's almost like they were an afterthought.. The Steam Deck, however, is best played in bed or on the sofa, it's far more comfortable to hold, proper analogue sticks, button layout and a considerably cheaper games catalogue that isn't limited to a specific console..

In it's stock form the Steam Deck wins hands down. In order to get the majority out of the vita, you have to hack it, you don't have to hack the steam deck to enjoy a lot of the games you mentioned. Secondly, where would you even buy a new vita today? Ebay? With what warranty? Steam deck does come with proper warranty if something does go wrong with it. Vita is a great console but it cannot play a lot of the Triple A titles that the steam deck can. You can also connect the steam deck to your tv/monitor and use it as an actual computer.

Literally everything in this video can be summarized with "I like the PS Vita more because it's a little bit more portable, and I'm nostalgic for the Vita". The Vita is just a smaller handheld consoles, where as the Deck is a full fat Linux PC in your hands. The Deck might not fit in your pocket, but the Deck is infinitely more versatile. It's the same reason I would rather use a PC over a PS5 or XBX. Consoles are just consoles. PC's can be whatever you want them to be. Speaking of that, saying that no one is going to play AAA titles on the Deck when they could play them on the PC at a desk is incredibly narrow minded. Especially coming from someone who apparently loves handheld gaming so much. You should know full well that people don't want to sit at a desk all day every day. Not to mention the people who lack that ability. That's the camp I fall into. If it weren't for the Deck, I wouldn't even be able to play some of the games for as long as I do now. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but the title of the video is a little misleading. The Vita isn't outright better than the Deck. I think everyone knows that by now. Your video is one based on opinion, and the title of the video should reflect that. I understand that "Why I like the Vita more than the Steam Deck" probably wouldn't have gotten as many clicks though. YTers gotta do what they gotta do, I guess.

I love my 3DS, and PSVita. But these devices are not something that should be compared to a Steam Deck. I used to have to unplug, and carry my Desktop when ever I went to my friends house. With a gaming laptop it is easier of course. But It is even more convenient with a Steam Deck. A gaming laptop is much heavier, and you will probably need to bring a mouse/Controller along with a charger with a power brick that's much bigger then The steam decks charger. And on top of all of that, You will need a desk or a table so you can comfortably Game. With a Steam Deck you can Sit/Lay anywhere, and you are good to go. These smaller Devices have there own place. There are instances were I would prefer them for the pocketablility. But to say this makes them better then the Steam Deck is silly. One could use the same argument to say this is why the Steam Deck is better then a desktop. But one simply isn't better then the other. They all have there own pros, and cons depending on there size/power.

I disagree. I would never give up my Vita´s and my PSTV, I have one OLED and one Slim, modded. But I also do have a Steam Deck, and the Steam Deck is much more versatile, having emulation, classic PC games, beloved series (Halo, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls, Tales of, Lego, and much more) on the go, but also in 1080p on my projector. In terms of size, I like it as it is, as I am now over 50 years old, and my eyes are getting worse (3.5 diopters of farsightness), so, I like the bigger screen. And the Deck is quite ergonomic to hold, though quite heavy.

The Steam Deck shines best when relaxing at home and not wanting to sit at a desk or in front of a TV. I find it REALLY shines when I have to watch my child and they just want to play by themselves with their toys and rather than stare at the wall, I can play my PC games right in front of them, still right there, enjoying time together until they want to play.

all right so the ony area where the vita is better is portability. the sd is not ment to be a portable device which you can grab on the train and showe it in your pocket afterwards. there are a lot of situations where you dont want/dont have time to turn on a console and the tv, load your save game, wait for the update etc. you just press the sleep button play 20-30 mins and press it again.

The Steam Deck is just a PC, in a portable package for gaming "on the go". It's biggest feature is it's portability. Without that, it's nothing but an expensive and quite limited PC. ANY PC or laptop can wake from sleep in no time at all like the SD. Most consoles are pretty quick to start up too. So your idea of it not being a portable for use on a train etc is clearly flawed.

I got a launch day Nintendo Switch instead and hacked it for Switch games and emulation (some Switch games can be continued at home on my gaming PC at home, some Switch games save files are compatible with Steam ones). I wanted a handheld that I could travel and play, the Steam deck was too heavy to play on the go. One thing I wish was there is some aftermarket OLED screen I could use it with (even a brighter LCD screen will work), and a bigger battery (because the modchip soldering is a nightmare for me so I will pass).

This is an absolutely bonehead review / take on a system I've ever seen. Having both systems as well as a switch, which I'm going to throw in the ring as well for an example, I can safely say that the steam deck is just as portable and just as comfortable as the PlayStation Vita and unless you're specifically putting your PlayStation Vita in your pocket which I do not recommend as dust and other debris would end up damaging the system over time. You cannot compare the steam deck to a laptop because even the smallest laptops have terrible weight distribution and you wouldn't be able to just hold them in your hand orgy with one that's what the PlayStation Vita and steam deck you can both hold these with one hand I'll be at the steam deck is slightly heavier it's still doable and more comfortable than trying to do this with a laptop you also don't need to set the steam deck up for play as you just hold it as if it was any other game console like the switch or Vita. In the case you made towards smaller games your argument really false flat there as the steam deck can do the exact same thing with the exact same setup as the PlayStation Vita so that argument doesn't make sense in the slightest to make, if I want to play small game of GoldenEye I can do it on my steam deck just as fast and even faster than the Vita, on the flip side you also made a double argument towards being able to play AAA games and not feeling comfortable playing them when you also do the same thing with your PlayStation Vita The only difference is that the steam that can run these natively instead of having to set up your phone to play over a broadband connection which is unreliable even with the best internet while also needing an additional device to play on. The argument that you can't play and enjoy AAA games on the go is also bunked considering that people play the Nintendo switch just fine as well as the Vita itself having its own catalog of AAA games during the PlayStation 3's run and the only games I could not see being played portal on the system of games that require a lot of setup to play such as a sports game wish PlayStation Vita is lacking in or deep strategy games, but even then I see these same games being played on all three handhelds. Onto your point about playing games at home the best case use for the steam deck funny enough is to replace home consoles The steam deck is compatible with any USB-C to HDMI device that's allowing it to be a home console same as the Nintendo switch but that as well would be based on whether or not you care about exclusives. Your next argument on playing the console in public seems like a you issue as I've never felt embarrassed playing any game system in public though that might be my own mental fortitude being stronger than yours and me not getting rattled by noises or other stimuli around, not a dig at you but the concept is absurd because you should feel the same way based on your own statements with the Vita. That being said I just beat Margit from elven ring while playing my steam Nick at work also I've done a ton of other stuff at work with my steam deck where I'm able to play games and also help out customers on the side doing the exact same thing that I would do with my Vita but on a much better and far more superior handheld device. Your arguments about achievement/trophies also doesn't make sense because they are the same and if you're saying that you'd rather grind for PlayStation trophies than steam achievements which are the same thing then that is a redundant talking point. All in all you have a right to an opinion but the fact of the matter is that the PlayStation Vita is not the better system it is just one that you prefer and that's fine but your video is terrible.

I am confused. Was this video meant to be a joke? I owned the Vita and no it wasn’t comfortable for me. The system was too small and slippery. And I am sure I am not the only person that had that problem. One of many reasons why Game Stop had so many used Vitas in stock. The frames were terrible. I could only play the vita for 5 - 10 minutes at a time due to me getting shot up due to the bad control, bad fps, and my fingers cramping up. I didn’t want to play the damn thing at home. Let alone on a train, plane, or at work. You said why play on the Steam Deck when you can play on a PC. Why not play on your PS4 instead of playing on a Vita. The only thing the psvita has over the SD is portability. That’s just it. Which though granted can be a real deal breaker for some as a handheld. The steamdeck to me feels like the perfect blend of a console and a pc. It’s meant more for PC gamers. When it comes to portability It’s a dilemma. People love big screens but also small portable devices. So you can’t really say one thing is better than the other really. It’s a choose your poison scenario. You pick one you gotta live with their pros and cons. There’s no perfect device and I’ve owned a lot of them over the years. Just look at the PS portal. It’s not meant for everybody but the ones who’ll use it will love it.

Voice of gaming reason...I am an old-school Atari/Coleco vision, Nintendo to the present gamer... the game market is in constant movement of trying to capture the perfect gaming experience...the solution lies within the actual gamers experience and comfort level. I've played every game known to man...even those tiger electric games etc... and for the sake of argument they alongside arcades show a perfect example of how control configuration of individual games is important and home consoles have tried to own the perfect setup but it's up to the user if you are like me you could play a game cube or Genesis at a friend's house and learn the controls and settle right in and go home and play your Playstation... the whole point now in conclusion is play them and if you don't like them then move on until you find one that you're comfortable with...some people may find SD uncomfortable at first as with any new controller or system but if you play it enough it becomes fluent... does anyone remember the transitions we had to get accustomed to? A joystick 🕹 with 1button...to nes 2...Genesis 3...SNES 6 etc....etc... and I honestly don't recall any of us crying about the comfort only hand cramping from night to morning playing lol...

The Vita is cool for what it is, but the screen is tiny, no l2 and r2 dedicated buttons, small library of Vita games, joysticks are small, and it's no longer supported by Sony. You can play emulated Switch games, Vita Games, PSP games, Nintendo retro handheld games, N64 games, Dreamcast games, GameCube games, Wii games. Wii U games, Ps1 games, Ps2 games, some Ps3 games, original Xbox games, other retro consoles not listed (the ones we know that will basically work on any modern device), Android games, Windows 98 games via SD. You can also play current triple A games, indie games, Shockwave games, Xbox game pass games, Moonlight, Xcloud, Steam link, Amazon Luna, DOS games, Arcade games, homebrew games, and Linux games. I'm sure I can list more there but you get the picture. I don't have to take a laptop and a gaming handheld with me as I travel, I just bring the SD (It's not as powerful as a high end laptop but for light work it's perfect). Now, I hear you on portability. SD is not going to fit in your pocket but I don't typically throw any gaming device in my pocket because it can damage your joysticks, collect pocket lent in between the screen and in the speakers grills. Certain materials can also damage the screen over time if it exposed in your pocket(I hate looking at dirty/scrathed screen while I'm gaming). Vita is cool for its time but I can't choose the Vita over the SD. When that SD OLED hits the market,🤯 it over . Nintendo Switch = 💩. I love me some Nintendo games but their handheld hardware is mediocre in my opinion. PSP already had docking capabilities. The joy con's are eww at best. The Switch lite is better than the original for portability and playtime. Nobody plays split screen on a 7 inch tablet....(well maybe Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in a pinch when challenged if necessary). I'm done ranting. Thanks for your opinion though.
@ozygameon
@ozygameon Год назад
A quick rebuttal: The Vita can do 80% of that list with the exception of Switch, Gamecube, Wii games but like I said, the only Nintendo games you want to play are only Mario or Zelda games, so it's no big loss. Same with Xbox originals, where we only miss out on Halo (overrated) and Forza (brilliant). What the SD doesn't have access to is the Playstation originals (which objectively are the better games) Vita's got them all. Screen is tiny? same size of a TV if you watch is from across the room, just hold it a little closer. Also what pockets are you putting your vita in? A tight pair of jeans? It's fits easily with its case into any pant or jacket pocket I have so no worries there about ruining the hardware. You failed to address the significant size and weight of the SD. It's too big! Like carrying a brick in your bag. My friend tried to take it on a flight the other day and they said it was too big for carry on, he had to check it in! Portability is crucial especially if your moving up and around and need to pause and pocket It a bit which is standard for travelling. One thing I forgot to mention is how good remote play is. 1. Works perfectly, no lag 2. doesn't waste battery on the device (SD only lasts an hour with AAA games, Vita lasts 3-4 hours) 3.doesn't take up space on your memory card for these giant games (thereby offering a whole other library of games on your device) 4. You get the full versions of the game and not a watered-down port on the SD (That Last of uS port!!!) 5. Now with high-speed internet on planes, you can remote play anywhere! In summation: Vita Does pretty much what SD can do, on a lighter, more portable device. Access to playstation library. Remote play is a better method of playing AAA games longer and at higher quality.

Great video! I think you are omiting a big category and that is DADs. When you have kids you dont have a lot of time to finally sit down infront of TV, nobody distrubs you, turn on the game and play for 2 hours. You have 30 min here and 30 min there, whichever room is quiet. Thats why I think SD is so popular. And if something comes up, you just press the button to put it to sleep and resume whenever you need. That being said, I love my Vita and use both all the time :)

I often travel 1-4 hours by train and I've been wanting a steam deck for over a year now, but I never considered playing it on the train. I currently have a vita and I do love it, but I almost always play devices like this either at home or when I'm on a long (10 hours or more) fight. I just love the personal feeling of a handheld, for me it's more immersive, I don't like being tied to a TV when I game, and handhelds are much simpler than an entire game console to plug in, power on, and then be stuck in one spot to for me personally.

i have both and agree that vita is still worth having BUT it doesnt really compare to the steam deck at all. i mean who travels without a backpack??? it is a lilttle bigger but the amount and type of games at your disposal is crazy. its almost a game in itself to see what games will work and it keeps getting better. i dont know about you but alot of games are frustrating to play on the vitas little ass screen and throw in how i have all my favorite fighting games spanning like 5 or more consoles at my disposal and i can go to a friends and hook up to a tv and play together is the best. thats a place the vita dropped the ball i mean who wants to play on a 6 inch screen when theres a 60 inch in the house.

I have a switch oled, Xbox series x, a ps5 and now a steam deck. And hands down not only does the steam deck blow the vita away as a handheld but like many it’s my new favorite system.

Vita better?? Where to start.. the sticks, way to small.. triggers.. incredibly bad.. the oled screen.. way to many problems. Yeah.. for the time it was a huge thing.. but lets be honest.. it had way to many flaws. I’m a little done with people complaining about the size of the deck.. finally a handheld that is actually nice to hold! It fits so good in your hands. No cramping like the switch, the ds 3ds line and the psp ps vita line.

The Vita is a timeless classic, but the Switch is a game changer and part of the revolutionary role of UMPC gaming; it needs the size for adequate screen real estate and controlling. Let’s have an epic compromise. Portable and mobile gaming systems as a whole are an excellent win for consumers. PS Vita can now be had for cheaps. Get one. Get a Switch OLED and a Steam Deck. Enjoy all three.

I don't own a Steam Deck personally. But I do think this title is a bit click baity. That being said I don't think the Steam Deck should be compared to the Vita. It should be compared to all the emulation devices floating around the market. The Anbernics, Miyoo's, Retroid Pocket etc. Those are imo the vita's direct competition, instead of a half way decent pc fit into a large handheld. The majority of those little consoles are portable like the vita, and can play ps1/psp titles, and N64 is usually better emulated as well. They can't of course play Vita titles as of right now. And the Vita certainly has a premium feel. However the front ends are usually better than a hacked vita's would be after some tinkering, and probably less buggy at least from my experience. The PSVita is a great little machine though. I had a plane ride recently and the Vita was much better to pull out and use on it than my Switch was. But a Steam Deck? It plays steam games, ps2, gamecube, some Wii U and Switch games etc. You could just hook it up to your tv, and use a controller, or m&k when you are at home. But also take it to bed and play it, use it in a hotel room as you've stated. Give it to your kids on a car ride, or use it yourself in a car ride with friends/family while traveling. From what I've heard the battery life isn't that great on the Steam Deck, but honestly it isn't really meant to replace a pocketable system like the Vita, 3DS, or the various emu devices that they keep releasing. It's simply a versatile gaming machine. I'm waiting for the Steam Deck 2 before I jump on it personally.

Hmm bit of an odd comparison as 2 completely different devices for completely different purposes. The vita was great for its time, however as portable devices go by todays standards especially for emulation and even game streaming services the PS vita is essentially hot trash. You can get a high powered android gaming phone with a controller with insane power and an incredible screen and incredible performance, supporting many more emulation systems and gaming services and equally as portable.

@MouseCIick Год назад
I agree they are 2 completely different devices, but PS Vita and PSP are still the best portable emulation devices. They require no setup besides jailbreaking and it just works. Android and Chinese emulators will never beat Sony's flawless quality-controlled hardware and software. A high-powered android gaming phone cost at least 5x as much as a Vita, overheats, and drain the battery very quickly unless you need a hand warmer. When you add a controller it is becoming less portable, more cumbersome, and an extra thing you can lose or break. And the controls will still never be better than PS Vita integrated buttons and dual thumb sticks. I rather carry my PSP Go and it can still fit in my front pockets with my iPhone Max, keys, wallet, or jackets with hidden pockets. I can discreetly take it in and out without looking like a total dork. I can carry my PS Vita in my 1-liter sling without feeling any discomfort while still having room for folding sunglasses and a small power bank. The best emulator is a standalone device you WILL carry. Which is why i give my hats off to miyoo mini v2 or retroid pocket 2 plus, but it is still not as good as a PS Vita or PSP GO unless they can run most PS2 games with no problem otherwise i don't see the point of Chinese emulator devices.
@corsinivideos
@corsinivideos Год назад
@@MouseCIick Have to completely disagree. I have a PSP GO, great device love the formfactor and sony hardware but the screen is super dated as an emulation device the powers just not there, almost all decent modern Chinese emulation devices provide better performance and even emulate older consoles much better even if the hardware is not quite Sony Level. The PS Vita again nice hardware but when it comes to emulation not really great at all. I have an Ayn Odin and the hardware is stellar and the emulation performance completely obliterates a VITA and the analogs and controls are on on par with a vita, great ergonomics too and actively cooled if needed and easy to carry. Also you can use set up different launchers and emulators and tweak them with much more precision and accuracy, the vita while great at playing playstation games again does almost every other system worse and can't even play higher end systems. Sony's OS is again nice to control but limited and outdated. Then when you get to gaming phones you are mistaken a lot. My gaming phone makes almost zero heat due to cooling vapour chamber when playing most systems on balanced settings and has a 5000mah battery and lasts for literally hours. Until you have seen 3DS on Citra or Wii on Dolphin or PPSSPP running at 3X or 4X resolution near flawlessly on an HD+ OLED at 144Hz you can't really understand how much of a different level it is to a Vita. Not to mention access to all game streaming services and android games and its a phone as well. My gaming phone cost $340, but I only use it for gaming, have another phone for normal stuff. More expensive than a vita but also in a completely different league. A fair few USB-C telescope controllers are super good nowdays too, again not an issue at all, and being able to slide close and carry easy means that this set up is far far from cumbersome, not even close, set up in seconds.

I have the Vita {the slim version}. I would say that to this day, as far as I'm concerned, the Vita is most definitely very very classy. Classy to the point of being the literal Rolls Royce of gaming handhelds. Yes, it's that good. As for the Steam Deck? Having thought about that system long and hard I came to the conclusion that the system simply does not appeal to me. I'm not sure why? Maybe it's because I'm 'old school' when it comes to PC gaming. Meaning that I prefer to play PC games on a traditional desktop or laptop. I don't like the idea of playing PC games on a much smaller screen {as in the Steam Deck}.

And deck pauses games too, I was still in an online session after 45 minutes of sleep mode and didn't even get kicked, obviously depends on the game but it will set to save the exact snap of where you were . With the amount of support the deck has they shorted their profits on selling the unit itself which already ensures yourr getting your money's worth and more so when you have a collected steam library it's endless . The games that don't say their supported still work and are completely playable

Some very good points but there's actually tons more reasons why the vita was ahead of its time and better than the steam deck: + Vita can play AAA games for longer (4x more), Steam deck can only play for an hour on battery. + Vita controls are more comfortable than SD, closer grip doesn't stretch muscles as much. + OLED screen + Vita handles emulation better than the Steam Deck. + Vita Battery lasts longer on average than the Steam deck + Analog sticks last longer and have less risk of becoming 'sticky' or needing replacing + Vita is not prone to bugs or crashes, SD games crash often + responsive cameras, touch screen and six axis control + Remote play feature is leagues above anything on the SD + System itself will last longer than the SD without needing repairs or updates only thing it doesn't have - not as big a library of games Vita is the smarter choice by far. Thank you
@Cyanwasserstoff
@Cyanwasserstoff Год назад
Okay, because I had a big laugh with your good humor, I might need to tackle your joke: - Vita can play AAA games for longer (4x more) than the Steam Deck - No, it can stream AAA games. The hardware is not capable of running even Alien Isolation on low settings. The Steam Deck can also stream PS4, PS5 (through the software Chiaki) and Xbox (Xbox Live) and with that the battery of the Steam Deck would outperform the Vita on a gigantic scale. - Vita controls are more comfortable than the Steam Deck - Personal preference, so far I have the feeling that the Steam Deck has better ergonomics. + OLED screen (I give you that as a plus point) - Vita handles emulation better than the Steam Deck - You have to break the operating system to install non authorized software for the Vita, while the Steam Deck has a designed package for emulation (EmuDeck). - Vita Battery lasts longer on average than the Steam Deck - Yes, while limited to either Stream (in this case the average battery life is better on the Steam Deck) or low resolution classic games - Analog sticks last longer and have less risk of becoming 'sticky' or needing relacement - I highly doubt that, but for the favor of the argument let's assume that this is the case. The Steam Deck offers analog stick replacement, while for the Vita there is no support. You might need to buy a replacement Vita, if something breaks on the Vita. - Vita is not prone to bugs or crashes, Steam Deck crash often - using the Vita with unsopported software is actually asking for failure or taking everything on your own risk. Valve is constantly improving and supporting the handheld OS. I had no seriousness crash at all. The only problem I ran into, was that the settings were too high in one game, that lead to problems. Easy fix by setting everything on medium. - responsive cameras, touch screen and six axis control vs completely customizable control layouts - Remote play feature is leagues above anything on the SD - Steam own remote control works just as fine, while also having the option to even use Sony Plastation remote play via Chiaki. More options than the Vita - System itself will last longer than the SD without needing repairs or updates - No updates means just no support at all. The Steam Deck works as it is, but there is always on every device room for improvement. Constant support for future games to come vs no support at all (Vita)
