If we didn't already have a championship I think this would make sense, but I really think Scottie will be the future here for many years to come. On the other hand, IF Masai can convince Dame that coming up here and play with Pascal, OG, Jakob and Gary will give him the best chance of competing for the title, I can see why the risk would be worth taking

Look ik it's just a basketball sim, but Dame went to the Raptors this off-season. They traded pascal for Dame and some how added Clint Capela. Scottie Barnes became a star and they won the chip against the Nuggets in a close 7 game series.

Raptors didn't lose FVV for nothing - Houston paid way too much and Raptors didn't want to deal with that. If they matched and exceeded that offer, then Raptors would've lost. For Lillard, Raptors would have to scrap half the team to match salaries even with Barnes in a package. Secondly (as said on video), I would not want to pay a 35 year old Lillard 63 million to finish out his contract and unlike Kawhi who plays on both end of the court, Lillard is mainly known for going hard January-March, has a few off game, media questions it, he snaps back with loyalty comments like man took a pay cut and gets bounced first round.

It would be a mistake to give Barnes up in that package. This guy is gonna be a beast next season. Also Dame won’t want to come here. Why pay max money for a guy who will be disgruntled.

I wondered about this. The fit seems pretty good. Making the salaries work is really difficult, though. The Raptors have to include so much salary to make up the difference between Barnes' and Dame's contracts. I can't really make it work in the trade machine, but teams have better ways to make deals than the trade machine allows. Hard to see Masai pulling it off without some salary cap magic tricks.

If we gonna get Dame we need to lock him down and not leave like how Kawhi did..I feel Dame would like The City..And with Dame on the team we could probably get some players that would want to play on the team also cause Dame is on the team..I feel if Barnes goes to Portland he would be a good Fit and can be The Face of that team..

As a Blazers fan I would take a Barnes package everyday over Herro. Guessing it would be Barnes + Boucher + Young + Koloko + 2 frp + 2 pick swaps. Dame, GTJ, OG, Siakam, Poeltl is a solid team especially with the bench the Raptors have Scoot, Sharpe, Grant, Barnes, Nurkic is also excited. Always wanted a point forward and feel like Barnes is him. Could be competetive next year already.

It makes sense for the Raptors to add a player of Dame’s caliber to their roster. Does Portland though get enough back in the deal for them to trade him Toronto?

Honestly, I'd say offer him, see what he says. Lillard would inject some excitement into the Raptors that we haven't seen since 2019-20 season. I'm sick of the Raptors middling around, unsure of what to do, even though I'm sure Barnes will be more impressive come this season (the sophomore slump is a real thing). He and Siakam would be an interesting tandem.

All this talk about dump Siakam, rebuild around an unproven Barnes. What the Raptors have lost is what got them the championship in the first place-- DEVELOPMENT FROM WITHIN. Pre Masai, it was not a problem of players not wanting to come here, it was much worse than that-- players not wanting to stay here. So they developed from within: Siakam, OG, FVV, Valančiūnas who became Gasol and most important through a minor trade they developed a raw but determined PG who would become their leader-- Kyle Lowry. Only after that foundation was created did they have what it takes. After that you need a winning spirit, they had that too as well as a dose of luck-- the Kawhi trade. Winning the Championship is what it is all about, but it also took this franchise away from what made them great in the first place.

Nahhh Ujiri has quite the reputation on not making trading key pieces post Demar. The only trade the raptors have made involving a key piece since the ring was moving Norm for Gary back in Tampa year. I'd say its a lot more likely Toronto doesn't bite on any moves given the past as indicators
