Why The Rattler 250 is One of the Coolest Races in America

Hello S1ap, just wanted to say thanks. As a European gearhead, this kind of racing is like discovering a new genre of music, where you immediately go "THESE ARE MY PEOPLE!" Grassroots motorsports could do with more coverage, and I hope you're able to enjoy your short track tour and gives ue more lovely videos like this one!

Let's give a shoutout to Ty Majeski who is dominant at this track and Bubba Pollard who just bested him this year.

What's kind of great about this series is it's actually kind of relatable to anyone involved in grassroots motorsports across the world not just America, but at the same time offers that distinctively American passion for stock car racing. Being from Ireland and heavily involved in a motor club, the kind of challenges and organisation that goes into organising rallies, hillclimbs and stuff are significantly different in some regards to organising stock car races but very similar in other ways. Great series S1ap and I can't wait to see what else is to come. Lots of respect from across the Atlantic

This series is just cool and informative, the racing scene around the Carolina’s is just so different from what I’m used to. I grew up in central Minnesota, so all of the short track racing I got to watch was dirt. The shows were great to watch with a bunch of different WISSOTA classes for street stocks, super stocks, two classes of modified and late models plus the occasional field of winged sprint cars. Unfortunately since around 2013 my home track has been struggling plus just regionally there has been just less cars showing up. So there is nowhere that regularly runs late models any more and it’s probably been 5 years since our track has been able to bring in sprint cars. They still put on great shows locally but unfortunately the only cars that can put together respectable fields are the modifieds

I’m glad you had a good time in my home state hopefully you can make it next year to the Alabama 200 in Montgomery and check out some of the other asphalt tracks or all the tracks we have to offer 😊

Those modifieds S1ap covers are one grouping of a type of modified known as the "E-mod" or "Economy Modified" - derived from a concept introduced by the IMCA in 1979, they're the asphalt equivalent of a UMP/IMCA Modified(also developed from the aforementioned IMCA concept). Asphalt E-Mods had a bit of a surge in the early 2010s when the financial pinch made late model racing a little less financially viable - they were 80% of the awesome of a late model for close to half the cost, and they are my second-favorite form of asphalt oval racecar.

hey slap! a tip when interviewing these guys, in premiere or whatever software you use to edit. only have one track of audio going at a time. i noticed when you were talking to augie, he was echoing a bit off of your mic. really love the content you are making for the sport!

I will never forget when I was a young kid me and my dad went to a rattler 250 race and that was the day I fell in love with racing. Those cars fly around this track and one time I was lucky enough to see a car ramp off the bank and fly into the woods under those lights 😂😂

Hey man love the video and love what your doing. I makes me sad watching this because our local dragstrip is getting closed in October because of a new development going up. It isn't a short track, but bandimere was where I got my first taste of going fast and I hate that it's going to be gone. Thankfully the family is planning on building a new track somewhere else, but it still sucks.

I've just been to my local hillclimb and to a rally two weeks ago. You kind of inspired me to try and get to as many events as I possibly could this year

Slap, just recently our local dirt track (Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, GA) just recently cancelled it's racing season after being bought and it hosted NASCAR 2 times and was hosting the Cabin Fever 40 in January

If you ever come Eastern Canada I recommend going to Speedway 660, Petty Raceway, Scotia Speed World, Riverside International Speedway

I grew up 20 minutes from the track. Spent a ton of weekends there as a kid with my dad and grandpa going and watching the racing there. The people who own and promote the track are awesome. I’ve seen about 1/3 of the current the NASCAR grid race at SAS. Great vid and brings back a lot of fun memories

I can't remember if you had a race scheduled for the Sept 13-17th weekend, but we got a big race up here in Canada that I think you'd love to see, at Petty International Raceway

Those folks running that track are top notch people. I went to firearm instructor school with Kevin Chance and the big goofy guy with the rattlesnake is Buddy Wise, a reserve deputy with our Sheriff’s office. I’m the school resource officer at Kinston High School. That little town loves their race track!

Unfortunate that you had to cancel some parts, I hope you make it Rockford and the Mile at the end of summer!

If I ever go to America then I’d love to go to a short track and watch a race

This track reminds me of another track in Alabama, Mobile International Speedway with no walls in the corners. ARCA used to race at Mobile, I know of Mobile because Will Kimmel had a crash where his car flew out of turn 1 and started to tumble, his car ended up in the parking lot, doing some damage to some unlucky spectators' vehicles.

If you want to go to a track in Connecticut, the Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway is a must

I really want to go to the Rattler, It’s only 2 hours away and think it would be awesome to go to it, I’ve only been to the Snowball Derby and want to see if the Rattler is as good as Snowball.

Hit huntsville speedway on your way back in north alabama, Richard Petty, Earnhaurt, all the greats raced there, and it was my childhood track I went to on the weekends

Thanks. I didn't know about this track even though I'm just up the road in Montgomery. I have other business taking up a lot of my weekends, but once that's over with, I may go down there every now and then.

I took my tour to save short track racing for the northeast classic at New Hampshire motor speedway last week great racing with a good finish. This weekend I spent my Saturday at Star speedway in Epping New Hampshire for a street stock main event and was pretty good. I’m going to Hudson New Hampshire next Sunday for a drift car event.

Hey slap I love your content and what ur doing with the tour. Is there any way u could talk about my local short track Dixie speedway. Been around forever but due to a local passing in the family that owns the track it's been closed for 2 years and I really miss hearing cars on Saturday and miss the chance to see racing right down the road on 92.

you should check out Delaware international speedway it has to be one of my favorite tracks i have ever been to.

Just an idea, instead of standing there kinda cocked 30° off the camera’s line of sight, maybe have a mic ( even a lav mic fed into a dummy handheld number works great, and gives the interviews a lot less stuff feeling, you could even have that audio record separate so you can pick that or the general audio. Loving this series already slapper!

You should go to either the Fall Classic or the Apple Cup at Tri-City Raceway, West Richland, WA. Fastest Tri Oval west of the Mississippi.

Going to a short track race is on my bucket list when me and my fiance plan to visit th US in the future.

Bubba pollard and Ty majeski is the 2 best late model drivers to ever race at south Alabama speedway. This race is the best in Alabama short track racing.
