I owned 2 FK8s and regarding having a loud exhaust I preferred using the stock setup even with FBO because it was like being in stealth mode. I’m sure that you’ve all heard the proverbial Mustang from miles away…and all of the potential unwanted law enforcement attention…that it brings. Sometimes driving an overly loud car(especially if it’s your daily) is only fun for about ten minutes…then that noise is just constant…no thanks.
I went to Honda first, but they wanted a $15,000 mark-up. The Acura dealer didn't ask for a mark-up. However, even though I ordered one, I still don't have it after 5 months. So I feel less than thrilled with Acura.
you can unplug the sound module but you need to take apart the dashboard for it the easier bandaid fix is to set up individual mode where the engine sound is set to comfort which turns it off nearly completely @@cjsnylons
I really found a liking to this car via Gran Turismo 7. I was bit disappointed after finding out how much they're asking for it in reality. The JDM maker have basically priced themselves out of the market. Asking $50k for a Honda would be comical if it weren't so sad. That's Stang GT, S5, S4, M240, Supra, Golf R, Camaro SS, etc. etc. money, and all are far out of the FL5s league performance wise. Sheesh, a base 2019 C7 Vette started only around $56k.
@@neumei626 The Golf R is like a 12.5 second car off the showroom floor. It's AWD with a DSG so of course it's out of the FL5s league same as the STi, M240xi, AMG 35, TTS, GR Carolla, etc. I love the FL5, but literally cars all over, euro, US, and JDM that are better offerings.
if i really cared about going fast in straight lines only for that much money i would find the cheapest corvette rn and slap a turbo on it. but there's more to life than flooring it on the straights @@whiskeyactual.
@@ShaiyanHossain Not sure what you're on about, but every car I mentioned is competent in corners and would out right out perform any FWD vehicle on the road course.
proof? also i still dont really care about numbers. if going fast on a road course was my goal i would have had a corvette. but its not @@whiskeyactual.
My only comment is, the Civic Type R costs MORE than the Integra Type S. You can NOT find a CTR anywhere for MSRP. You will pay a bare minimum of 49k$ for the CTR, and more likely 54$k. The Integra Type S can be had for $52k almost anywhere you look. I would go for the Type Severy single time.
Type s doesn’t have a limited production run of units like the type r. Type r only has a production run of 18k units over the model run. Yes you can get one for sticker, just gotta find a dealer in the middle of nowhere. I did, and got free tint.
those only started popping up in the last few weeks because of the MY 2024 units being shipped over, as well as the MSRP increase to $45k (!)@@christopherdenison5762
My Elantra N sounds amazing - nothing like a vacuum cleaner! I used to love those Type -R cars, but N cars are a better alternative now and with no markups at this point. That may change once people find out how cool they are.
The problem with these cars (Type R & S) is they aren’t worth their asking price. For $50k+ there’s far too many cheap components and luxury shortcuts, I liked the $38k I paid for my FK8. Still can’t figure out why I’d pay 10k+ more for a slower vehicle.
What you are saying is not true. They both take about 5 seconds to 60mph. The official number for FL5 is a couple of seconds faster than the FK8. I guess you wouldn't want to pay $10,000 more. But many other people would prefer the FL5. The FK8, for example, is prone to overheating. They addressed that issue, at least to some degree, with the FL5. Also the FL5 has a much better sound system, and most people believe it looks better than the FK8. For most people, the FL5 is a better car.
If you can get one for sticker price, then yes they are worth it. Also, the fl5 also only has a production run of only 18,000 units, far less than the 150,000 units for the fk8. Will definitely hold its value. The fl5 had an increase in sticker price of 5k due to the fact its made in Japan. Gotta pay that tariff to the United States.
@LateNightDateNight Wow, I just paid $38,042.74 including all taxes and fees minus my trade-in of 2015 Civic Si for the Type S. So far I'm so super happy with it and is by far the nicest car I've ever owned. Probably the biggest disappointment is the ELS Studio 3D. Very overhyped. It sounds okay for OE but I was nowhere even close to blown away by it.
@@mikemccormick6128 Wow, that’s the first negative thing I’ve heard about it. Appreciate the honesty! Everyone seems to say it’s magnificent. I had a Lexus IS500 which had the Mark Levinson everyone yammers on about and wasn’t that impressed by it either
Apple CarPlay and other creature comforts do NOT justify $50k for a CIVIC. Speak for yourself it’s supposed to be an econo sports car and it isn’t even close to that it’s a sports car with a luxery price tag. Drivers don’t care about comfort as they do performance
@@jimmyvu6919 laugh all you want but you can go ahead and pay $50k+ for a CIVIC when you could spend a little more and get a way better car for example the M3, S4, CT4 for that price tag. If you’re buying a Type R you aren’t buying it because it has CarPlay and other little crap, likely the buyer would be using it for motorsports as it’s what it was designed for. A $50k budget could build a pretty sweet sports car on an older chassis and also be WAY more capable of a car as most the stuff on it would likely be new or quality and it being more dialed than a factory car designed for the masses. $50k for a FWD civic to me is insane, $50k for a built to the hilt evo, STI, golf R all IMO way better deals seeing as either car would destroy a CTR on track or street. Also look at the civic historically and tell me they weren’t advertised, built and sold as economy cars even the higher trim sports models weren’t sold to compete with luxury cars like the M3 or Audi S or RS models because they were never that, Honda didn’t even advertise them to compete with Subaru or Mitsubishi during those peak years so why is it that a $50k price tag is justifiable? It isn’t and we shouldn’t continue to pat car companies on the back for giving us a sports car but at a price that the intended buyer can’t even afford. You don’t see a lot of 55+ year olds lining up to buy these things.
Times have changed, the car prices have changed the economy is in the SHlTTER and my pay rate is still the same this is the future. But a $50k civic lmmfao, please GTFO.
@@JorgeCabrera-zh7yr i guess, there are other changes like the interior and exterior design, the infotainment system, bose audio system etc.. All of that adds up and before you know it the car costs more
