Where is the Hypocritical Outrage? Remember folks clutching their pearls re Travis Hunter supposedly accepting NIL from Coach Prime at JSU? Which was an outright Lie! This is the Truth....crickets....Why?
The funny thing is it seams people think Texas is the only one doing this. This has been happening for years it’s just out in the open now everyone does it and have been doing it.
No... This is different because it is transparent and open (i.e. reportable income) whereas the activity you are referring to was illegal and essentially forced recipients to take a huge risk by essentially committing tax fraud. The IRS didn't want to prosecute poor students and the amounts involved were not in the 7 figure range some NIL deals are now, so where there was little appetite to prosecute "poor athletes" before, that is no longer the case now that there is an above the table option available. Schools still relying on under the table bag men are taking big risks that may no longer make sense.
Yes they will succeed. Austin is not a normal lure but a paradise for college kids. now the biggest spotlight of SEC along with best facilities and hottest girls....recruiting has already spoken for itself recently and the ball is rolling
@@Pidabred1 well, technically Disney owned it. We sold it to them for a guaranteed 15 mil per year. Which is why it kinda sucks. Lol. Its got the 2 games a year. Thats about it. The school didnt wanna spend any more on it, they made their money. 🤣🤣🤣 We essentially just flimflammed em. So silly.
You have a lot of under the table money given to athletes and their families so why not just make it legal and hire these kids. I recall one athlete who went Pro saying he took a pay cut in his 1st contract compared to what he was making on college so 50k is really just a bonus in most programs. If you've ever been to Alabama you would think why would a kid go to that school. The town of Tuscaloosa really doesn't have much to offer other than the University yet every yr they are a top destination for college recruits.
Pancake Factory... The NIL deals have now brought the darkness to light. HBCU's will improve but not at the rate of PWI's. Kids have to want to attend our 👋🏿schools for the intangibles. B1✊🏿
Pancake factory hell yeah!!! Please everybody quit acting like you don’t know that this was already happening without people actually being able to see it.
Everyone was all NIL, NIL, NIL! Texas was like..."you guys sure?!?!?" Now, you all wanna complain. 🤣🤣🤣 Were (by a mide margin) the most monied program in the us. Atm LOOKS close, but they do a lot of nonsense like including loans and whatnot in "revenue..." Look at the top 5 or 10 teams in revenue. Thats who will be ruling the sport in a few years. You wanted it. You got it.
Treating them like a commodity? That's what the players have bitched about for years. Not good enough to have your education payed for as well all your living so now they have nil cash and it's taking advantage of the young men???
DAM RIGHT I WANT ALL PAYING PLAYERS. You know how much TEXAS 🏈 revenue bring in? $50K ain't no💰. Top Players worth $3M a piece annually. NIL is Great, but $50K too low.
Theres also the 100k/year deal EVERY scholarship player will get from the clark field NIL deal. So linemen will get 150k/year, base. Everyone else 100k/year base. But they are setting up deals like "the pancake factory" for other groups, not just linemen. Cbs, lbs, etc.
And id bet 3 mil is about what we paid ewers. 1 mil per year. Edit: I would bet its contingent on him being here though. If he leaves, wont get the 1 mil for the next year.
@@firghteningtruth7173 that wouldn't be compliant with Texas state law, so 1yr renewable deals are the norm since they will not allow deals to extend beyond a student athlete's NCAA playing career and cannot be structured at the individual level to be contingent on play at a particular school (i.e. pay for play)
I don’t think that the players realize that they are not getting the $50k it’s going to a charity in their names. They need to read the fine print before the sign. The donors gets a tax break and the players get nothing.
Texas BEEN having the most money and how many national championships they got in the last 40 plus years? UNO. Them boys boosters want them to get back to their pre integration peak so bad and they end up disappointed every year 😂😂. Remember they said Sark was gon turn around Texas last season? We all saw how that turned out. All that money just to lose to Kansas in football, boy that's tough
How so? When the NIL floodgates were opened up, no regulations were put in place..meaning each state/university is doing their own thing. Under the table stuff is still going on, but Texas has never been one of the heavy hitters in that area..or at least smart enough to not get caught like other schools in the same state.
And their estate that looks at the black athlete as cattle livestock I've heard some of the hidden conversations with some of the white football coaches from some of these Texas schools I'm talking about high school and it lets me know that Texas speaks racial tension to me because I know what they've done a lot of people want to forget and don't realize I will never forget because I had great uncles that came up in the area
You're saying all this pedigree about Texas but you're not talking about the racial pedigree they did not want black athletes to come to that school let alone they did not want the Elmira train to win the national championship we all watch the movie we all know the history why do you guys continue on making like these universities aren't prejudiced or they don't come from prejudice these summer are some of the same schools that did not want black athletes to come to the school you better do your homework start thinking they're only accepting you now because there is no racial standard you're allowed to have a black athlete now it's the thing to do to have black athletes I'm being funny and sarcastic when I say that
So what? What you say goes for damned well every school in the country BEFORE integration was the law. It was wrong...that's why the law was made. Wrongs are corrected, and smart people move forward, not stay stuck in the past.I'm sure as hell not saying to forget the past, but at the same time I'm also saying that the present sure as hell is not the same as the past, either. Get OVER it!!!
Also, its NOT 50k to commit. Its 50k PER SEMESTER YOU ARE ON SCHOLARSHIP. Edit: on TOP OF the "field" NIL deal, which I believe is ANOTHER 100k per semester for EVERY player (not just lineman) who is on scholarship. And they are coming up with more "pancake factory" type deals for every other position. Its...yeah. You guys just gave us cheat codes.
@@HBCUSpotlight pretty sure. So the linemen will get 150k...and I think its per semester, not annually. But for sure look that up. Was my understanding though.
@@HBCUSpotlight not to even MENTION what im sure they paid ol Ewers. They were talking late 1st round draft pick money last I heard. Edit:Its WILD. Im sure they are gonna reign it in soon, but for now...WEEEeeEeEeEeeeEe Good for us. 🤣
