XFL wants a huge TV market to satisfy its network and cable backers. San Diego should be an expansion team along with San Antonio when the league adds teams in its second year. They should buy out the San Diego Fleet and San Antonio Commanders' names and team colors from the defunct AFF since both those clubs had good fan bases. They should also look into reviving the AFF Atlanta franchise. San Diego would form a great rivalry with Los Angeles. The XFL should also start an Oakland club as well to fill the hole by the departing Raiders.

@@TheLAGopher This and players are the two biggest hurdles the XFL has to overcome. What is there 8 teams? That is just far too small for a whole lot of the country to really get interested. The biggest thing is the best players not being available to them, that could change, but the league would have to survive until then, can they afford to pay players enough to entice them to go there instead and survive?

@@MacguffinsTV excellent points.Man whats going on here ? people talking about expansion and buying out old AAF teams and colors..just what you want from a failed league .and before you talk expansion this league has not even played one down let a lone one season.Its great that a lot of fans are optimistic about the new league,but lets face it the deck is stacked against them on lasting more than 2or 3 years.I think realistically some team like LA and quite possibly others will be moved becasue of lack of interest in attendance so city's like San Diego and San Antonio will get a team.This is very much a "niche" league and that's the key to its survival.We have the CFL up here in canada its an 8team league that's been going on for over 100 years the key thing is that fans of our league and the XFl is that fans cannot compare it to the NFL..they are unique in there own ways so they should be taken as such

@@TheEndZone4 I liked what I saw. He didn't have big numbers and they were more focused on running the ball, but he ran the offense smoothly and didn't turn it over. Also tried to get the tight ends more involved. Should definitely start over McGloin the rest of the season.

The BIGGEST REASON I want the XFL to work and last is because it gives athletes another opportunity to play. That reason alone creates a ripple affect NO ONE talks or thinks about . One of the biggest things that it can change is that younger athletes or just people that need a little more time t PKK develop might not get completely SHITTED ON BY THE NFL. Without this opportunity the NFL KNOWS that there is not many other promising ways to still play football and make enough to live off of that only income. Hence you are left with a contract that you dont want but are forced to take since no one else is offering. Plus I LOVE ME SOME FUCKING FOOTBALL LETS GOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

It’s smart they aren’t trying to compete with the NFL because that ship has sailed. The NFL owns football. But they can carve out a good piece for themselves and be the American CFL. I think it’s a great idea for those guys on the NFL bubble. I really hope it works this time. Congrats to all those guys in the XFL.

I already like the XFL which could potentially bring down the monopoly the NCAA and big schools have on the talent of players. If star players choose to play in the XFL instead of making money for the NCAA and the school that wanted to recruit for them, player would be looking out more for themselves. The NCAA would then become more competitive because all the star players would all not be in a few big schools.

@Andre Ricardo Bryant The XFL is paying near-poverty wages for average players. The only people who may find it worth their while to skip college and a scholarship to play in the XFL are Quarterbacks the NFL doesn't want in the first round. A QB who would be drafted 2nd round in the NFL could go XFL,make the same money as an NFL 2nd round rookie contract and likely get more exposure and a better chance of success against weaker defenses. Go to the XFL for a few years, and get some good tape then see if the NFL wants to offer a big-time contract. The NCAA is about to let college players make money off endorsements. California passed a law saying kids in that state can do it. Florida seems about to jump next. If California and Florida are doing it, its only a matter of time before Texas and the rest of the nation go next.

I don't think a High School football player's bodies are mature enough to play against grown men and competing for their lively playing to put groceries on their family's table. Have you ever yourself or seen a Pop Warner or JV High School football player move up to the next level prematurely it can get pretty ugly including broken bones etc. Football is a violent sport its nothing to play with especially on the professional level no need to force it prematurely.

@@MarkSmith-eq5is XFL salarys average about 55.000 dollars a year. That's a base salary of about 27.000 with about 16.000 in extra cash for games actually played. If a player plays in all games and the team is over.500 and plays in the playoffs, an average player can make about 55.000 a year while a QB could make almost 500.000 a year with those incentives. 55.000 dollars a year is peanuts for anybody but the desperate of players with no other options. No one is going to leave a big-time College program scholarship to take this deal especially since College football is starting to cave on preventing student-athletes from making money. California just made it legal for a kid to market his own "brand" and cut endorsement deals at the College level. Now Florida seems about to jump. If those two huge pools of potential future college players are going that way, its only a matter of time before Texas, Ohio, Georgia, Alabama, Illinois, and Pennslyvania do so as well. When the big football factory states go that way, everybody else will have to do so as well.

No high school athlete is ready to play in anything other than college football they can’t play X NFL players and college athletes that weren’t quite good enough to make it to the NFL they’re gonna sit on the bench if they even make the team and the best of the best are going to go to college route you make no sense

The XFL will be a lot of Players who didn't make the Pro's , ArenaFootball Players, and Canadian Football Players who Couldn't land a Contract. Vince wants to Make Money off this Not Give it. To all of the highschool football players, if you want to make money right away and don't want to get used by the NCAA go get your money now and use that money to build a business. College doesn't teach you to build a business anyway they teach you to work for a business. If you know your worth and are good enough, go get the money.

A College Education isn't like it was back in the 1970's when I went. You actually could get a good job according to your education. Now forget about it. If I have talent in football I sign up for the XFL. You can always go back for your education. One other thing. A very accurate assessment of the CFL ( I live in Canada ) The average salary here is estimated at $80,000. The leagues highest paid player in 2018 made $218,000 so the elite players can make a living at it ie a bunch of guys in the $100,000 range. The CFL is over 100 years old so it does show that a viable ''safety net' league for American players is viable. The down side of the CFL is that half the roster have to be Canadians ie best athlete per position isn't necessarily the case. I think a CFL/XFL comparison is more accurate especially since both leagues have 8 teams . Where can I find out more about your observations and insights?

The reason the NFL has that rule is so the body can mature. I don't know if I want to see an 18 year old RB getting hit by a 25 year old LB. People happy about this forget how high impact the game of Football is. This isn't the NBA or MLS(or any professional soccer leagues). This is football.

OK, here’s why it won’t work. The United States has only enough patience for football for so many months. XFL may last a couple years, but will go by the wayside just as all the rest. Personally I’m gonna watch it. These players are playing for the love of the game. I’m done with the NFL.

So the XFL wants mid level college players? Am I the only one that sees that as horrible for the players? We get caught up in the freak athletes that have no business going to college that we forget about all the hopefuls that went through on scholarship and washed out. You're essentially asking mid levels to sacrifice a free education for 70k a year for what, 3-5 years? And then what? They lose NCAA eligibility in that sport for playing professionally and are stuck without a pro contract nor any sort of degree. What does the rest of their life look like? There will of course be success stories, just as there are in the draft or the league, but how many wash out after a couple of years? The XFL offers high risk, high reward for mid level players with more weight to the high risk side especially when adding in potential life long injury.

The sports industry is finite. Football within the industry is finite. The NFL and NCAA have complete and total monopoly on football. There is no room for the XFL in the football fanbase. It will last longer than last time. Maybe. But it will never amount to the NFL or come close to succeeding it. At best it will be the equivalent to the minor leagues in baseball

Players will only make 55k a year, not great money at all. With college players now able to get paid starting in 2023 I don't think there will be that great of a draw for kids coming out of high school. Regardless I'm hyped af for the XFL! Go Vipers and Renegades!

55,000 is more money those kids will ever see in college. And everyone is forgetting one big fact... They'll still be eligible for the nfl draft. These kids especially quarterbacks have the opportunity to skip college get paid, polished, and have a shot at the nfl. You cant get better than that.

I just can’t imagine the XFL replacing the NCAA as the main landing spot for most of the football talent, especially now the NCAA just voted to allow student athletes to make money off their names and likeness. I’ll be that guy that mentions the value of a degree. The earning potential with a degree will far out weigh what they’ll make from the XFL, unless it gets them into the NFL. There probably will be those that would rather get paid now than wait for a degree. The XFL could definitely fill that need.

it won,t high school kids at 18 are not physically or mentally prepared for pro football even the XFL...besides i doubt the league will last no more than 500 million vince has ponied up ..so about 2 years

It is about the same to playin in Canada for the CFL. What do you expect? This is minor league football that can be compared to Triple A baseball players who make way less
