Some controversial takes in this video, but it's well researched and eloquently put across. Really gives me something to think about. I was inclined to disagree but you're convincing. Really defining what a video essay can be, there's a lot of RU-vidrs out there who are seething right now, they've been one-upped. Raising the bar as always.

Honestly? A lot of valid points raised. I think you tapered off at the end, when you could have really hit home with a stronger conclusion, but the criticism of the "values", "core beliefs" and "unexplored sexual tension between Lewis and Simon" really made me think.
I feel like this video failed to address the elephant in the room, the fact that when Tom Clarke became a content creator in 2016 everyone in the office got too distracted by his cleavage to get any work done anymore, ending the era of pre-built Minecraft series
Most importantly who cares I'd kill to have the Lewis-Simon/Tom-Ben/etc. dynamic with someone even with 0 viewers, the real treasure was the friends we made along the way. Endless unsustainable growth now or you failed, yay capitalism with a side of clickbait drama social media cancer.

Being real for a second. The only reason the Yogscast has stagnated and is 'failing' is because they let it happen. Everything they put effort into is always top quality, taskbox, gamesnight etc
Problem is they don't get enough views for those types of videos to be viable as their regular content, unless perhaps they took more sponsorships, but they're probably never gonna be the British OfflineTV.
@Netyr Not saying they would be massive but yogs has been it's own little insular community for a long time. They have many talented creators in the network and if they were willing to play the twitch 'game' I have no doubt they could do better. Most don't seem to bothered though which I appreciate as a viewer.
Well.... 7 million subs and they can only make GTA5 and TTT videos. And even then they get ~100k views. Now im not calling it failure. But if you divide the amount of views by the amount of people in each video then you got different numbers. "But but they have 20+ different channels" ... yes yes they do.
There's more to life than youtube. They're on twitch, they've got podcasts on pickaxe, and they're releasing actual games. RU-vid isn't worth the time for a lot of creators these days.
