China is such a beautiful country! I live in the state of Arkansas in the US and have been wanting to move to China for a few years now. Have always imagined that I would choose to live in one of the big cities, but now I can see myself living in a more rural area of China. Thanks for making this video Mike! And thanks to Brian for pointing out that China has 5000 years of history and culture, a fact that too many people neglect to remember these days. Hopefully one day I can experience China for myself in person, instead of just jealousy watching videos from far away.
Well I’m a Singaporean, and I’ve spend quite a lot of time in China pre-Covid. Hustle and bustle of the big cities aside, I think one should experience the suburbs and rural parts. The culture, the folks, the food… all pretty awesome.
@@karaciao6896 they actually do. Chinese trade all over the world. Even they made strong efforts in sending diplomats that know the host language and culture before sending them out. At least China don’t spread hate. Somehow the western media and politicians make it sound like nothing is good in China. I live in the west. I hardly see any media praise China for lifting people off poverty, greening up desert, improve literacy rate to 93%.. china already implemented a lot of environmental friendly programs without much fanfare. Yet you can find so many foreigners live happily over in China. Even a little girl in china understand the Ukraine situation better than adult in the west
Teacher Mike is doing something great for the understanding of the two peoples! Thank you for promoting this kind of peace and love and friendship between peoples.
I just love how teacher Mike never forgets his initial concept of this channel, and I like what Brian said, that what truly shines in China is the history and culture back there , because that is something everyone can admire and share, rather than the economics and politics.
@@glypton Maybe go to China and see for yourself as these great people do in the video, instead of letting yourself be manipulated and brainwashed by anti-china propaganda from media like a mindless sheep?
@@glypton Have you ever been to China or know about Chinese culture? If you don’t want to, that’s your choice. Your comment is absolutely opposite to the point of this video. Open-minded!
I worked for a Chinese family as a kid in NZ - they taught me hard work and I loved them as bosses. They always talked about life back in their village. They had a mansion but worked hard every day still which I’ll always remember
Great video! I am learning Mandarin now and hope someday to visit China! It is so refreshing to see Americans learning Chinese and who to live and work in China!
Bryan Linden and his Linden Centre is very famous around asia too. Many people here know his story. He's practically become the community persona there and people respect and embrace him. How I wish the whole world could be like this.
@@victor.nexus7 Yes, that's what it should be. But no one looks beyond race, colour & religions. We never realized that no matter what colour, race or religion we are the same on this planet, humans. Homo sapiens, or also known as earthlings, the Terrans. History has it that most mammals are hunted or killed by a different species of mammals. We are the only species that hunt, kill & maime our own species.
Brian did an amazing job helping to revitalize & redevelop the little historical village. I hope more people would find country living more appealing than in the big cities.
That is why these cultural exchanges between countries are so important. They bear friendship and fruit 20 to 30 yrs down the road. It prevents conflict between nations if not for the present but for the future.
And in the digital age, social platforms are increasingly important for the digital native foreign audiences to see. Plus persuasive, first hand experiences in their narrations are also important
Great story, Teacher Mike. Thanks for showing how these two American families are enriching the lives of the local villagers, offering educational opportunities other than online classes and showing the great outdoors to children who are often stuck indoor in front of screens for too long. Chinese children and children around the world needs more cultural exchanges and opportunities to learn from other cultures so that they can grow up to be world citizens.
You mean American children, Americans and Westerners are more brainwashed than North Koreans, they're the ones who really need to learn about how other places are in real life and other cultures so they can open their eyes. Chinese children already know much more than Western children about the outside world cause Chinese media doesn't brainwash them the same way to keep the population dumb.
so good. love this episode theme. thank you Mike for making this video. thank you for Brian, Nathan and Patrice was loving China history and culture. Especially Brian was trying protecting the China cultural building and sharing his own building for public use selflessly. Thank you so much.
To watch the video really makes my heart warm. Thank you for sharing. Hope the Sino-US peace and friendship last forever. More understanding, less conflict.
It is absolutely right to settle in Yunnan. There is a beautiful environment, fresh air, clear water, full of flowers all year round. It is a paradise for people who like green flowers and has a unique landform.
Hey Mike, really enjoyed this one. We went to Yunnan in 2016 or so, and I absolutely fell in love with Dali. What an incredible place. We stayed in a little village on Erhai Lake and tbh I’ve been dreaming of going to live there ever since. So glad you had a nice break from SH.
many years ago, i traveled in China Dali, very beautiful place. i rented a car , drive among the mounts . very very beautiful. the blue sky ,the clean river ,the snow of Mount.
My brother is traveling there. He said the weather is fine not too cold not too hot all year round and it’s very beautiful there and it won’t cost a lot of money to buy a house. He’s thinking to move there.
I am Kunmingness but now I live in LA. I have homesickness when I watched the video. Love your videos about Yunnang. Thank you for sharing beautiful people and colorful Country. I can’t wait to go home and see those amazing places from your videos.
So heartwarming, so much love and passion with these entrepreneurs. This made me tear up and happy. We need more of this, a lot more of this, in China.
Thanks to Mike for taking the initiative in being the bridge between the West and the East. As a matter of fact, there are many expats living in Taiwan and experiencing similar lives like the owers of the Red Hill B&B. I strongly recommend Mike come over here check it out and let the people in the West, who are dreading the rapid development of China now, understand there is no word called colonialism in our 5000 years of history. Why are they living in a daily dread of being invaded by China. Ignorance is not a bliss. Call me Smilie if you like.
I agree to most of your opinions, except for the part of " there is no word called colonialism "in 5000 yrs history of China. Well, say that to any Vietnamese ,the country that has a 1000 years history of fighting invasion from so many dynasties of China 😅 The countries maybe friends now ( or at least seem to be), but history is history. Like you said, ignorance is not a bliss.
Brian Linden not only have been in 110 countries, He is 60 minutes photographer,In the 80s-90s Followed Mike Wallace to interview more than 100 national leaders、include Deng xiaoping and Jiang zemin,He is a real master
What Linden said truly represents a lot of people who really really love China, its amazing culture and history. It makes my heart sing seeing Mike do this video. Though we love Mike for sharing things in Mandarin, but it is also lovely to sometimes see him speaking English😂
@@jzvr5842 she's not authentic. I can also say quality of life in North Korea is best you can get on the planet, while not even traveling there. I can claim people can shoot themselves in the head and survive, but not prove it. How trustworthy is that?
Many like these guys around China, just quietly enjoy life . Not really wanting to become marketers for China tourism , bit just enjoy a wonderful life in a very safe, historical, respect society.
