I get behind the wheel of an Aston Martin CALLUM Vanquish 25... a resto-mod from the guy who designed the original car 20 years ago.

Exactly what I was about to comment. A couple of the chages they've made with this work but many of them don't or just aren't necessary. The interior is particularly horrible but each to their own I guess. The grills and carbon fibre lack the classic Aston luxury and class that they had in the early 2000s. It's amazing how bad the first generation flappy paddle gearboxes were back in the day though. Amazing that such a high end car was put on sale to the public with technology that just wasn't up to scratch yet but you were considered out of date if you didn't produce paddle shift. Manual conversion and the Vanquish S becomes the car it always should have been.

Harry’s garages reviewed this Callum designed Aston and Harry Metcalf wasn’t impressed ! For the price there are better cars like a Ferrari 812 superfast.

Love the Aston Martin Vanquish! I had the honor of meeting Brian Johnson from AC/DC when I lived in Sarasota, Florida. He had a Metallic Light green Vanquish at the time. I was driving to work one day, and Back in Black was playing on the radio. I happened to glance left, and there is Brian Johnson, in his Vanquish!! Truly once in a lifetime experience.

I’ve always wondered why companies have never tried ( or at least had an option ) of selling cars with 2 sets of wheels ( obviously different either side ) . You never see both sides at the same time so walking towards your car from different sides would give it such different looks :)

Absolutely gorgeous. It's nice to see the "director's cut" in car version and this is a perfect example for it. In this Vanquish I would totally do the manual. However, if you have to have an auto the ZF 8-speed on the 2016-up (in USA) might be what you're looking forAbso.

Recently I’ve been wishing you would take a more in-depth look or walk around the vehicle to share specific details... The engine, the trunk (boot), specifics of the interior, etc. And wa-la you did. It becomes the tangible part of what the car is about rather than just scenery shots and accelerations.

Its good seeing this car on your channel. I last saw (and filmed) it at last years London Concours. You are right; seeing it right opposite the original showcases the changes. I do believe you are missing the point. Successful petrolheads will have the choice to have at least one completely bespoke car in their collection, one that reflects them. They could choose between an Porsche reimagined by Singer or Kaege, Alfaholics GTA-R, Eagle or Evolution e Types, cars of the Zagato Sanction lost programme, or even (if you can afford it) the Roll Royce Boat tail. These are this cars competitors (not a new Ferrari), and compared to some of the others, its a bargain. I will have mine with rear seats and a tan leather interior......now where is that lottery ticket?

That is a very nice, albeit very expensive indulgence. I'll tell you what's not, the latest Vanquish like the one Shmee used to own. You can happily get it serviced by Aston, its more up to date, and for me, looks tonnes better outside. The original Vanquish like this Callum car is still pretty, but every time I see that 2013 Vanquish and hear that V12 burble away from the lights, I have to change my pants..... Will always be my favourite Aston Martin. Oh yeah, I haven't mentioned the interior can be just as nice for half the price of the Callum creation. You'll have change left over to make it bespoke. Lovely video Sam, keep em coming!

Great film Sam thanks, I understand there is a fully automatic option Drove my Vanq S to Classic Wheels (a wonderful packed “show what you brung” car show) at Oakham today, combination of A1 and country roads and it was magnificent! Prices have come down a bit, certainly a decent one can be had well sub £100k. Not sure I would enjoyed the Callum version 4 times as much as mine...you get used to the gearbox 😀

Love Aston Martins, but there is plenty I don't like about this car, the steering wheel, the 'Tartan' and the tail lights are a huge turn off for me. I know it's just aesthetics but I would have to look at it every day, not for me...but who cares about the opinion of a guy on the internets that will never own one! A Vanquish S Red Arrows is the Aston for me...

Objectively I agree with you it’s a lot of money for what it is, but the Vanquish S has always been ‘my’ 360 Modena. It’s old, it’s flawed but it’s always pride of place in my dream garage. I adore this car!! Not sure the exhaust noise is an improvement on the original though.

Aston will always be the brand I choose over any other. Yes the lambos and ferraris and others are great, but there is something classy, elegant, fast, great sounding v8’s and v12’s, and they are just timeless.

I think it is only for people to whom the Vanquish was a childhood dream. Like Singer, this is the best version of their dream. They do not have to justify the price I guess.

This would be amazing if you couldn't get any other V12Aston Martin with a manual gearbox but you can ie DBS or V12 Vantage and for a lot less than this but I can understand the exclusivity and bespokeness of this having it redesigned by it's original designer.

The 2000s Aston Martin before the Mercedes stuff came in were the best. Always loved em, some of the best V12 cars ever made. the GT12 is peak Vantage, and the DBS is one of the best looking cars in existence. And the Callum Vantage is a blessing from the lord!

A great summary. IMO, if you have a car and £300k to spend on it...look at what the guys can do at retro power. Check out the Kaiser Mercedes, it’s virtually perfect and totally unique.

If you have to ask how much it is, you can’t afford it, as they say. I suppose the point is that it’s a car for wealthy Aston heritage fanatics who buy up everything, not for petrolheads looking for the best value way into a v12. They will probably only go up in value, too.

I’m gonna have to disagree with you here Sam, I think the manual is well suited for the Vanquish! If you are looking for a traditional British GT, I think the DB range of Astons is better suited. Love your content here and with Tony on BTG!!

I agree, I’d rather have this with a modern ZF 8 speed automatic transmission , making a truly awesome grand tourer I can see why it’s also better as a two seater as the back seats were useless. And if they’d of kept that two seat design originally, it would’ve been even better with a rear hatch Making it a truly functional and more useable as the ultimate GT, handy to put your bike or golf clubs in or enough luggage for a two week continental trip 🚙👍🏻 #StaySafe 🦠😷

Exclusivity doesn't apply when referring to the mass market Aston models like the DB11 and the Vantage, both still with terrible 3 generations old Mercedes infotainment. For the £100-150k they want to charge you, the Audi R8, AMG GT, Porsche etc all run rings around Aston. There is a reason Aston is failing, and it isn't because they make wonderful interiors.

I like the original better in terms of looks. Especially the removal of the lower lights and turning them in to carbon fibre vents or scoops. Those lights were such a big part of the design. I doubt that it needed extra cooling….if It did need extra cooling it’s too bad the lights couldn’t have remained as well somehow. The deconstructed tartan stuff and Bremont removable clock is cheesy and good call not mentioning the touch screen infotainment which looks very dated. 😬

I really don't understand why so many people are bitching about this car in comment. Hefty Price Tag, but suits to a bespoke/tuned car, there is only 25 units, only a few people can afford it. Ok, for its price you will have a tons of modern supercar which will annihilate it on track or road, but for some people who are passionate about this specific cars and wanted to have more of it, it's just perfect.
