Technology changes very fast and to see how much it has come along is amazing. If it wasn’t this Sony Cybershot camera, it would have been another brand and model camera and you still will have the same nostalgia feeling towards it. Part of it are those videos and digital pictures that you were able to take with it. The pictures and videos are the real feelings behind the attachment of fond memories of the past. The sharpness doesn’t compare to what technology can do today with the modern cameras yet those memories cannot be ever replaced or recapture of your youth and fun times. Did I also borrow this camera when you had better cameras?
WOW! I love this camera. I had this camera and sadly it had the sensor issue. Some of the early time cameras had faulty sensors. I am glad you at least kept the camera.
I've recently dug out my old camera. I've managed to retrieve old pictures from the memory stick but I can't get the camera to turn on. Do you know if it was possible to store pics/vids on the camera without a memory stick?
hey, great video! any idea how to transfer these pictures to my computer or phone? i only have 8mb on my memory card so i need to transfer so i can wipe and take more photos.
Could someone help me, I found one, it turns on but as soon as I put in the date it says system error and turns off and won’t turn again for a bit, how do I fix it
does anyone reading this has the lens shutter issue on their P52? basically it won't open or close properly when turning on the camera. anyone knows if there are spare parts available? it's specifically the little gear motor
thanks for the video! my uncle passed this same camera down to me, and i've been absolutely loving it. my friends are all obsessed too haha! recently though, my shutter lens have gotten stuck and turns on with a message to "turn power off then on", would you happen to know how to fix this?
i have the same issue, it's the little motor inside that snapped a couple plastic gears. i still can't find any spare part.. apparently it's a very common issue, both on this camera and also the P72 (probably other models too...)
Thanks for watching! My guess is that your best bet for memory sticks is eBay (maybe search "memory stick sony". On Amazon, they're hard to find. If you search for something specific like "msa-128a", there was maybe 1 that actually matches. There are also Memory Stick Duo cards with Memory Stick adapters on Amazon, but I'm not sure if you'll run into issues of them separating if you try to eject it from the camera. Good luck in your search!
The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 does not support in-camera charging via a cable. You'll need to remove the battery and charge it using the Sony BC-TR1 Battery Charger.

El botón que muestra una especie de cuadrado con dos líneas a cada lado, es para cambiar entre los modos de opciones en pantalla, incluída la de apagarla
@@LightsAndButtons I'm also struggling, I have a mac and it simply won't read the memory stick, both when I connect it via a USB cable and a card reader that supports memory stick. Do you know a way around this perhaps?
These run off of AA batteries, so the standard rechargable ones you can get from major stores will work. Sometimes, I miss the days where batteries are easily replaced without needing to buy proprietary ones! :)
I'd say either that or a memory card reader if your PC doesn't recognize the camera. There is a chance that the existing drivers are not compatible since the camera is pretty old.
I found this one in the basement, i put in new batteries, but it doesn’t turn on. Should i buy a charger? Or is it broken? I would really appreciate a response!
Hi, I'm not sure if it's broken. An easy thing to do would be to check the battery contacts - make sure there's no gunk from old batteries and that the metal is actually making contact with the batteries. Beyond that, it may be something else :(
Great video, learned a bit about that camera, thanks for sharing! I was recently given a similar camera a Sony Cybershot DSC-P72 and I intend to use it as I'm into old tech, I don't yet have a memory stick for it and it wouldn't fire up, does this camera require to have a memory stick inserted to fire up or is my camera busted?
@@LightsAndButtons Thanks for letting me know. I figured my camera was busted but I had a good look at the battery terminal connections and one connection pin had some corrosion on it, so I scraped it with a screwdriver and voila the camera now fires up!!! :D Have bought a 512mb memory stick for it, have just tested it, have to say for 2003 tech the pictures look pretty damn good! Even the video though compressed doesn't look half bad!
Hi Ana! Thanks for watching! Honestly, I think the cost to repair would be much more than what the camera is worth. On eBay, some people are selling these for around $20 USD
I may have had 2 cards, but my 16MB one is currently the one that's currently with the camera. At some point, I may have had another card as a backup, but I don't remember needing to swap out a whole lot. I was also just doing short videos too.
