I missed out on these but I do hope they re-release! Good to go with my Challenger 2 in the same scale! Plus will never say no to more Land Rover kits!
A decent range of kits that I somehow missed out on. I served in Iraq and Afghan at a time when Snatch and WMIK Landies were everywhere, some in desert colours, some in NATO green but most in a weather beaten mix of both! I always hoped they'd release a GS Wolf Landy as part of the range as well. Much more suited to being posed alongside a helicopter as a ground crew hack, especially with the roof platform and ladder that the helicopter support versions had.
@@MOS6510Models Yes, it does. The plus side of this scale is that it is larger then 1/72 and still can go with planes and helicopters. My biggest dream are planes in 1/35 or vehicles in 1/32. Also there are so few civilian vehicles in 1/35 scale. 😕
Nice video, Mos. I'm a fan of ww2 era planes mostly, but this kit has got my attention. Also, what is the enscription in the bottom right, below your badge?
An excellent range of kits and just right for diorama's with 1/48 aircraft. Would be nice to see a re-release if even in limited form please @Airfix 🙂. Thanks Mos
This Snatch is the same as those sent out to Op. Telic and Herrick. There were some changes under the bonnet but I left that to the REME! The figures would take a heck of a lot to convert them to Op. Banner though. It just wouldn’t be worth the effort. I think Dragon’s (?) British Troops had British Soldiers with chest webbing, no radios or glasses moulded in. That would give a better ‘image’ of the Troops on Op Banner. Happy modelling! Ian Edit: the rear seats aren’t correct in that the wheel arch came up between the two seats and there was a gap the same width as the seats. Often used as a spare seat but not officially!
I've done a quick scan, and the scale seems largely dead. However there is a new 3D printed kit company making this scale and Tamiya has just started pairing vehicles with planes. Could possibly go with a Buccaneer or a Lynx
@TrigmaotionCoUk: Not so sure.... Tamiya have released a number of 1/48th AFV kits that seem pretty popular; They have a recent 1/48th Challenger II in desert scheme, and this Airfix kit would look great alongside it in a diorama.... 😉 Tamiya have a number of very good looking WWII armour in this scale too - it seems to go down well, so although it's not the normal 1/35th, it's still a decently detailed scale to work in, which takes up a lot less space too!! 👍
There's a Patrol and Support or a Heli Support set both of which include a Lynx AH.7. Not so sure about the scale being dead though, less popular for vehicles and figures maybe...
Considering the "glorious" retreat from Afghanistan by the western countries I doubt Airfix will be in a hurry to re-release the Operation Herrick boxes. A retreat which pushed that country back to the 7th century.
@@stevesstuff1450 Certainly, but the uniforms and weapons become outdated so fast and the Landrover is such a mundane vehicle that you really would have to search for an interesting scheme that "sells". In 30 years time maybe, as a "Vintage Classic".
