I liked Anakin's rise to knighthood from the original 2003 Clone Wars series, that duel with Asajj is still one of my favorite lightsaber duels from the whole franchise.

When we see ACTUAL fighting from this time period. Anakin always seemed to be doing the best with the most troops. Unless anyone has or knows something I haven't heard yet.. he seems to be the Old Republic an Order's best Jedi General. For sure, of "normal" Clone Trooper he had the most elite an powerful id wager. I'd say the Loyalists shoulda expected the ABSOLUTE WORST an brought at least twice as many forces to the attack In hindsight... Pissing off Anakin PROBABLY wasn't the smartest move...

I really enjoyed this video. I came to the Clone Wars during the last season and I loved it. I would enjoy this type of video for any Clone Wars battle that interests you.

Annekan was always gonna turn bad. He'd like Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda. The 1st villain. He was told he was the chosen one and filled his head with dreams, and trained him and trained relentlessly and then denied him in the end and felt betrayed by the one he cared for the most. He couldn't love himself despite Shifu telling him he loves him. He cannot allow love to grow when hate is also growing.

That was quite an impressive display.

Strategically this battle makes no sense and I can see how the clones might find the clone wars to make no sense to them. 1 mil battle droids including hellfire droids and air superiority vs at most combined maybe 70k+? I mean of course the republic has to win but any commander with half a brain would have realized that they had the numbers advantage. Even when the seps commander called that retreat there was still no reason to have to call the entire army back. A couple hundred thousand would have been just fine to help fortify while the rest continue to simply roll over republic troops. I mean come on, it’s just stupid on top of stupid. This is my one problem with Star Wars, commanders with their heads stuck in a toilet.

If they ever bring this battle in animation, I think they should bring in 4 squads of arcs and commandos to aide skywalker to take down tonith, while the fleet have groups of acclamators and heavy cruisers for bombardments and fighter strikes.

This is was a wonderful breakdown. Thank you! I might be thinking foolishly but I'm starting to think Earth could beat The Republic( NOT the CIS ) in this era( 22 BBY - 19 BBY ). Earth has a lot of experience with constant warfare that they didn't at the time. A combination of battle experience, projectile ordinance, and unfortunately the usage of big bombs( nukes included ) could force them to retreat and prefer diplomacy. Their unwillingness to use orbital bombardment and mass drivers forces them commit too many resources. Oh well, I wish them luck against The Separatists. LOL!

Technically no Jedi or Trooper could _truly_ save the Republic. Palpatine was the puppet-master of both sides. The CIS was unwittingly controlled opposition against the Republic, whilst the Republic was unwittingly in the process of being supplanted by the Galactic Empire. All of the Clone Wars were primarily for the revenge of the Sith and secondarily for the fall of the Republic and Jedi Order. Order 66 had a ~99% success rate with easily around ~9,900 Jedi slain as the order went out. Those Jedi whom survived were hunted by Inquisitors and Vader, and of those very few were still around by the time Luke Skywalker met Ben Kenobi on Tatooine. Ultimately, as fascinating as the Clone Wars are, the entire conflict was really just a smokescreen for Palpatine's true purposes. The violence was the catalyst for the increased militarisation, and this also helped Palpatine scapegoat the Jedi and call them war-mongers after their supposed 'assassination attempt' on him. The war terrified the citizenry especially when it came to their doorstep; as on Coruscant near the end of the war. This only added to the concerns and gave more weight to Palpatine's push for a Galactic Empire. Even though tactical and strategic surprises could occur during the Clone Wars, for both sides (with events that even surprised Palpatine, in spite of the fact he controlled both sides via his alter egos), generally speaking the war was rigged from the start. If either side got too successful or unsuccessful at whichever point in time, Palpatine intervened and prolonged the conflict. He held things in balance for a long time. If the CIS was unleashed with properly vindictive leadership by Palpatine, in a way in which he _wanted_ them to completely win, then the Republic _would_ have lost the war. There are no two ways about it. The problem was, that the CIS was only ever a stand in fall guy for the Republic to increasingly upscale it's military against; when really, the 'Republic's military' was becoming the Empire's in waiting. Anakin could 'save' the Republic in a battle, but really, in the grand scheme of things, Palpatine remained in control of the war throughout. Many setbacks on both sides were directly or indirectly down to Palpatine manipulating the situation. In this sense, no amount of heroics or strategic brilliance could really save the Republic in that context. It had no real chance given the circumstances. Yes, Anakin could have saved the Republic by trying to kill Palpatine in his offices by helping Mace Windu. But the very fact Padme Amidala must always be remembered in this line of thought, behind Anakin's motivations, means that this was never really going to happen. Anakin would do anything to try and save her and Mace Windu was Anakin's biggest critic on the Jedi Council. It wasn't exactly like Mace made it hard for Anakin to make his mind up, let's put it that way. Yet even in this scenario, where Anakin doesn't intervene and either allows Windu to kill Palpatine or he himself helps Windu execute him, then what happens then? Palpatine had left the Jedi in the situation where they'd look like murderers anyway. They didn't have the influence on the Senate as did the Dark Lord of the Sith - and in this fashion, the Jedi would inevitably be called into question and despised by large numbers of Senators and their constituents across the galaxy. For all the world it would just look like an assassination. How would they explain that? A Senate hearing? A trial of Windu and Anakin? How would it work? Would the bodies of Agen Kolar, Saesee Tiin and Kit Fisto be evidence enough of the evil of the chancellor? Why would the Jedi kill their own? At that point some people might even claim what they were doing was a false flag and they killed a few of their own Jedi to make it look plausible. Who knows. What makes this even worse is knowing that Palpatine put the thoughts of Padme dying in childbirth in Anakin's mind, as Palpatine knew they were secretly seeing each other - and he knew about his mother and what happened with the Tusken Raiders. Besides the fact Palpatine was to some extent using the dark side to aid in manipulating people in the Senate, meaning they might still be unnaturally biased against the Jedi even had Palpatine been killed, the CIS itself would then _not_ be hamstrung by Palpatine and the CIS leadership on Mustafar would survive. Most likely, Obi Wan would still kill Grievous on Utapau, though there would be good chance of the still yet massive armies of the Separatists clawing some ground back they otherwise could not. No shutdown signal would be issued from Mustafar by Vader. Within days, the Separatists might scatter or simply remain in hiding on Mustafar, where 'Clone Intelligence' will _not_ find them (Palpatine straight up just grassed Grievous up on Utapau and grassed the Separatist leaders up on Mustafar, telling the Jedi and Republic and acting like the Clones found this information) Palpatine was shifting the balance of the war in favour of the Republic _decisively_ towards what he intended as it's conclusion. The CIS had served it's purpose and the assimilation process was about to transpire. Almost all of the wealth and assets of both the Republic and CIS would all be under the umbrella of the new, Galactic Empire - and then some, once it started expanding in the Imperial Expansion era. Had Anakin killed Palpatine then obviously there wouldn't even be an Empire. It was all on Palpatine in that sense. Conventionally, the military situation might still have been too difficult and dire for the CIS to claw itself back from. They'd probably just lost Grievous, even in this scenario, and the Outer Rim Sieges were going very poorly for them as one by one planetary engagements were won by the Republic. Moreover, Order 66 would not occur and ~10,000 Jedi would still be alive. Perhaps the Jedi and GAR would be too strong to stop at that point - or perhaps the surviving Separatists would have the resources to keep the fighting going for several more years (in which case, what would even be left of the Republic anyway?) As I said, there was no real 'saving' of the Republic to be done. It was a broken house and needed reforming at the very least. Then again, maybe the spirit of Palpatine would still endure, somehow, and Darth Sidious would return somewhere and lose his shit and basically go on a totally different warpath - one not interested in building an Empire, but simply spiting the entire galaxy. He'd probably wrest control of the military assets of the Separatists off the likes of Nute Gunray pretty quickly, and then just wield the vast droid armies of the CIS hardball with the Republic and Jedi until the entire galaxy was on fire. Everyone would lose. So ironically, maybe the Galactic Empire really was the only way forward? No matter what happened, conflict would still tear the galaxy apart. The clue is in the name (interstellar conflict; star wars) Even without Darth Sidious coming back somehow in that extra scenario, the CIS might still retain the ability to hold it's own against the Republic without Palpatine covertly interfering. Indeed, with the pressure and betrayal of Sidious removed, they might start suddenly winning a lot more battles and realising their true strength. The CIS was fighting with padded gloves the entire war though the likes of Nute Gunray didn't really realise this was the case. He was just too greedy and stupid to work it out. Sidious was just using all of them, obviously. Also, Nute Gunray etc couldn't figure out Sidious and Palpatine were the same guy. I mean, that voice was quite recognisable and was literally regarded as, 'The Voice of the Republic'. You'd think they might understand but not even Grievous knew. Only Dooku was in the know at that high a level, and even he got decapitated on Palpatine's insistence. P.S - Now, if Grievous did somehow manage to escape Obi Wan on Utapau in this alternative scenario, then he would definitely remain a thorn in the side of the Republic. But it'd be Grievous VS ~10,000 Jedi; so unless he could figure out a way to train more generals with good quality to take on the Jedi and clones, he'd have to rely on Tactical Droids and the odd few Super Tactical Droids. If Grievous dies then it's mainly down to Trade Federation Captains, Tactical Droids etc and maybe a new military hero they could turn to? Maybe a new warlord or tactical genius might rise in that timeline, and be every bit as dangerous as Grievous was? Another concept would be that maybe the Kaminoans would want the war to continue to keep their orders of Clones coming in, and maybe they'd hire bounty hunters and warriors to lead the CIS forces. Nevertheless, whoever commands them, if the CIS can fight on with _billions if not trillions_ of remaining droids, then the perpetuated war would destroy or emaciate the Republic. There wouldn't be much left. Palpatine had technically already won as soon as he became Supreme Chancellor, _from a certain point of view_ mind you. He'd made himself too important and centralised in the most powerful office in the galaxy, to simply kick out without causing a shitstorm of epic proportions. If the Jedi really killed him, the galaxy at large might turn on the Jedi anyway not believing the lies. The Republic was screwed whatever happened. There's no ignoring the fact that several thousand star systems had seceded from the Republic already. Hundreds/thousands more might follow if the Jedi actually did kill Palpatine (but for different reasons than the original Separatists left the Republic; this time saying the Jedi overthrew the government and therefore they had to join the Separatists on moral grounds etc) Palpatine couldn't lose either way, even if he died. That's what the Jedi were up against and they didn't even know until Palpatine decided to tell them.

After purchasing a child slave, putting on him the weight of destroying the sith, doubting him for having emotions the entire time, routinely denying him knowledge and power he needs to fulfill the mission their religion has put on him, and after he single handedly saves the republic they are dogmatically sworn to protect, the council begrudgingly awarded anakin the honor of a title.
