I like large biomes because I want for my biomes to feel large. It makes journeying from one biome to another more of an actual adventure than you’d get with normal-sized biomes.

I think an unmentioned benefit of large biomes is consistent scenery. Having frequent biome changes is something that bothers me a lot when building, because the biome that I'm building in will always have another biome in the background. Like when I'm building in a desert, for example, I want a cool structure that looks like it's in the middle of nowhere, rather than having a clear visual of an area that looks more lively. As another example, having a large field of sand or yellowish grass in your jungle treehouse's view is an eyesore. I'd even say that it breaks/disrupts the game's immersion. You know how villagers sell maps for woodland mansions though? I can't remember if they do so for other structures, but expanding that as a method of finding most biomes can be really good. Instead of just traveling randomly to find a jungle, for example, you can find villagers that point you in the right direction. Alternatively, it could be something that the wandering trader does, since it'd fit their theme.

That would be perfect. In all world types, exists some biome that we can't find it. In my case is a snowy taiga in my "normal" world and a dark forest in my large biomes world.

I think there's a stronger case for Large Biomes now with 1.18 terrain. With the new generation, a biome can look vastly different depending on what kind of terrain there is. In 1.17 and before, biomes wouldn't really vary in terrain, so they'd look pretty bland and boring. In 1.18, you can have steep cliffs, rivers, mountains, hills, and other crazy terrain all in the same biome. It won't be as boring as before. Also, after observing LB in 1.18, it appears mountain biomes do not get larger. Those biomes only generate when the terrain is high enough, which is completely separate from biome placement. Which mountain biome it is depends on the temperature of the biomes around it.

I have the exact opposite opinion. I really like the large biomes, and hate how close together biomes are in default worlds. Does Bedrock support Data Packs? If yes, maybe you could give Terralith a try. For one, I believe it does make the biomes larger than they are in vanilla (without making them crazy large), but for two, it seamlessly mixes the biomes together, rather than creating those harsh biome borders that you see in vanilla worlds. Give it a try if you haven’t.

So I'm 4½ minutes in, and i gotta say the realistically large biomes REALLY tempt me to play for that challenge. Minecraft's default biome size is great normally, but i think it would be really interesting to have a world with enormous bridges and highways and tons of portals etc. Just to get to various locations more easily, especially on a multiplayer world. Small biomes are great for survival and having short-term fun, but if you want to build an entire lifelike civilization, massive biomes make that so much more challenging and more fun

This is exactly why I would use large biomes. I have yet to do it but if I ever do it'll be for that reason alone. I love the idea of having a huge plains or mountain city, bonus points if I can find a mountain biome surrounded by a massive ocean!! Of course most people probably wouldn't want to make large cities which is fine but for those which do this biome type would be perfect for them so that their cities aren't limited to being smaller then desired due to the biome size or being surrounded by multiple different biomes.

It’s probably never going to happen because bedrock makes money by having bored people purchase marketplace content. Like we still haven’t got spectator mode when it’s literally a glitch that was in the game anyway. When the world is improperly loaded you can already see through it with an X-ray bug and such bugs have existed since the early days of the game. Bedrock’s gameplay features and parity are an afterthought and they forced Java to concede its advanced world generation options just so they could ditch having to add them to bedrock. Super flat worlds are next. It’s so frustrating the way they refuse to add superflat customisation to bedrock. But I bet superflat world presets will appear in the good old market place for 1000 minecoins in the near future. Just like skyblock did😂. You can’t design buildings with basements or bunkers because the world is only 4 blocks deep and you can’t change it. Redstone design is annoying because you have to build everything floating in the air. There’s no excuse when a tiny dev team from Scotland added it in the best state ever even compared to Java. With the limits Minecraft console editions had 4J did impeccable work. Microsoft, a multi billion dollar company pales in comparison to 4J. Pretty pathetic. It’s not like they can use the older device performance limitations when superflat worlds are far less demanding of your device than the new 1.18 worlds. They’ve used that excuse to much and if so minecraft shouldn’t be on the God damn iPhone 5.

I'd rather have to prepare a journey to go find a new biome instead of walking 500 blocks in a direction in a day, Having small biomes makes exploring less interesting and de-incentivizes exploring large distances which is sad because I want a reason to do so especially given the new beautiful terrain of 1.18.

I like to feel imersed in my world and not have a mesa the size of my town park. Also for me a big part is to plan my projects in Large Biomes Mode with things I can reasonably acquire. The order of things becomes: plan and build within the restrictions of the surroundings and then explore for new opportunities so that I find new resources I could use and widen my restrictions. I think calling Large Biomes a "useless biome nobody wants" is a bit self-centered on terms of how you experience fun because there are many ways to play, plan, build and have fun in the game.

2:20 Spawning in the ocean is a bug with 1.18 prerelease 1. EDIT: It is apparently working as intended, they just changed how large biomes works now. The world generation from default to large biomes doesn't match. In every previous minecraft version, 0,0 is the same biome and everything is identical save for biomes being expanded by like 2x in every direction.( a 4x4 scale biome would become 16x16) The exact same bug happened to me. My world's seed in the normal setting is a decent spot, but on large biomes the generation and biomes are completely different. I spawn on an ocean ruin at 700,300, in an ocean that goes on for thousands of blocks. The terrain doesn't match at all. It's supposed to be the same but expanded. Though I have to say, that's a pretty cool bugged seed you got. It's like you were sailing and crashed on a deserted island.

I don't usually want every biome to be 1000s of blocks but I love when I want to travel to the mesa biome and I go on a multi day journey through checkpoints and little cabins and inns I've made along the way to sleep and restock. It makes me appreciate the little things along the way as well as my time there as well. I miss pre 1.7 oceans because they were massive and finding any land was a little event and finding an actual land mass was a challenge and rewarding. Oceans should be expansive and an obstacle in my opinion because it means you are more likely to make more out of "continent" you're on (because before 1.7 land masses really were more like isolated continents) than compared to post 1.7 where you can really just walk anywhere now and avoid oceans entirely.

I explored a 1.18 Large Biomes world the other day and found a beautiful Roofed Forest that spanned hundreds of blocks, with lots of interesting terrain, connected to a birch forest and a massive jungle/sparse jungle off to the sides. You know, I haven't played with large biomes, but it looks really cool! That plains biome at 5:12- sure- you could say that it's a royal pain the the butt to find a desert; but if you wanted to build a really large castle, you wouldn't need to flatten a smaller plain- (and several other nearby biomes)- or build you own terrain just to get what you want. And look at that river! Think about how majestic (and helpful) and bridge you could make there! At least for me- you're kinda ruining your point about why it's "bad"- and showing why it's rather unique feature. :)

Yeah. That's a real river! With some caves near it, also. I hate how most rivers in "normal" world type are blocked somewhere with dirt or sand.

I honestly could not disagree more. Large biomes allow for more fun while adventuring, a MUCH largest amount of lands for your base and a way more atmospheric feel to the game (especially for biomes that are usually quite small).

I've been playing MineCraft since 1.6.4. Almost since the beginning I've been playing Large Biomes... because it's so much more realistic. This makes the gameplay so much more of a challenge. And once I randomly landed on a 1 tree island.... and fell in love with the "Can I make this work" struggle to survive. As you pointed out in the video.... land masses can be incrediblly distant, and it honestly makes you feel like you're abandoned somewhere in the middle of nowhere and it's you alone against the entire world. I like the world seed you've found... landing on a ship, with a small island nearby would be a PERFECT survival seed. The only wood you have is what you can scavage from your sunken ship. You pray for a spider, so you can get string so you can build a fishing pole to gain something to eat. Yeah... I'm going to have to give this one a try for sure. Honestly, Ibxtoycat, honestly.... Large Biome worlds are the best because it really does become a grand adventure to survive, thrive and live.

I think larger biomes create a challenge of having to stick with your recourses. In the real world this is why our architecture types are so different. In Minecraft if you spawn in a desert without large biomes you just walk out of it and get some trees. But it there are larger biomes this leads you to have to use the material around you.

Large Biome is one of the best world type and I wish they added it to Bedrock since I want some little challenge and it is a great world type to build a city in case you don't want a city in flat world. Finding a seed you actually want to play in that has everything takes longer than playing the game itself. Maybe I'm just too picky. I like worlds with access to everything. I wanna play 1 world not constantly starting over. Its annoying enough when a new update comes out and I need to start a new world to experience the new content Minecraft needs a travel update. Teleporters need to be a thing. Minecraft needs a survival mode fast travel option for extremely long distances.

When I first started playing Minecraft, my perception of distance was different, with a two hundred blocks feeling like a mile. Also my builds were also much smaller and was a maximum of 50 blocks wide, but as I got better at Minecraft two hundred blocks isn't that much and biomes feel not as big as before, resulting in the sense of accomplishment when finding a new biome fading away. But with large biomes that feeling returns, and as long as I don't spawn in an ocean, I prefer them wildly. Also wandering traders are useful because resources from other biomes are rearer so thats a plus that I just realised. Also I know Toycat mentioned the challenge of searching for biomes in large biomes, and said it's not the fun type of challenge, but that is a sacrifice you have to do to make the discovery of a new biome fun, and also as the same example Toycat used with cacti, yes it can be kinda annoying to find it, but that makes it valuable and thats something that is easily lost in a really postgame Minecraft world and as previously stated the wandering trader makes sense. And yes while I do think seeing 3+ biomes while looking in one direction feels weird, I'm not meaning that small biomes is a bad idea, I actually think it would be a good addition to the game, as sometimes you don't want to need to travel that much in your world, especially for shorter term worlds. (Also I think I should mention that I can agree with that the oceans are a bit to big in large biomes, mostly because boats are slow)

Personally, I find the idea of having large biomes again an amazing one, though not everyone may think the same. The reason why I believe bigger biomes would be good is to make Minecraft have a more subversive and realistic atmosphere. I find having large scale biomes encourages exploration and discourages speedrunning, a thing in which I don't like. I can understand why some players would want to keep biomes the same size, due to some players not wanting to commit to a game like others. Larger biomes also could make multiplayer more interesting by having larger biomes for towns and bases. Though, I see the negatives to larger biomes. Making already large or plentiful biomes bigger can make traveling seem repetitive and boring to some. But, at least in my opinion, I see bigger biomes, like oceans, like a challenge to not get lost in. That'd be a challenge I'd love to take on! TL;DR: Bigger biomes offer more exploration and creativity to the game along with the community. Some may find wider areas hard or annoying to explore, but it'd give Minecraft a different feel to an old game again.

Sorry, but I don't want to build a medieval castle in a forest that happens to be surrounded by desert, tundra, bamboo jungle, and mountain biomes within render distance lol Honestly I think the large biome option should triple the regular size of biomes to allow seemingly miles of travel on foot without jumping between a dozen biomes in an hour of walking or a minute of flying lol. It would make exploration more immersive to me, making it feel like a somewhat feasible world and not a chaotic mishmash of biomes and odd generation. Basically I want to be able to travel in a biome without seeing other biomes everywhere around me, and to feel like I'm actually exploring a world and not just endless chaotic random generation.

Highways are a must for Large Biomes. I played it with a few friends and I thought it was really fun. We all had our own base in our own separate biome, and we were able to visit each other easily using the Nether highway we build. A central hub at 0,0 branching out in all four directions, with Blue Ice for super fast boat travel. We spawn proofed the whole thing by placing buttons on the ice.

Honestly still thing the Large Biomes option has things set TOO SMALL... Like really... I'd love to have biomes where it is more like real life... oceans deserts, hills, etc that can take days to cross. Makes everything feel like more of a grand adventure and when you finally start building you don't have to worry about filling up a whole biome with your builds or ever running out of room within them (a constant concern for someone like me who has enjoyed building custom environments spanning thousands of blocks)

Personally I like how it gives character to your world and kinda feels more intimate since when you do find a desert for example, it becomes THE desert of your world and so on with other biomes, while in a regular world biomes are pretty irrelevant since finding them is easy and also doesn’t feel very rewarding, but I understand if you find it boring or low quality gameplay, though I think that says more about how boring and repetitive the biomes themselves are in the game
