It is so easy to fall into collecting knives. You said it short and simple: You only need one. At some point, the collection collects you. You become the steward of the weight of steel. I think most people will shed lesser knives and add better ones, and the collection improves with age. Then a person might begin to whittle down the collection, by selling or gifting from the bottom of the collection. Knives like the Sebenza and Inkosi will rise to the top and remain. I expect even as an old man, I'll need one good knife with me. Or two. That will likely be my Inkosi and my Bugout.
Just got my first CRk, waited a long time too, finally got the small 31 left hand drop point in magnacut, the decision between large or small, and blade shapes was tough, but ultimately I took what I could get when I had the money and wish I would have bought fewer
I ordered mine. Should be here tomorrow. It will be my last. Only have a small collection, and after much research and too many RU-vid videos I took the plunge. This can be an expensive hobby. Not as bad as watches….trust me. Thanks for the video!
Nice Tim 👍. Thanks for sharing. I have some flytanium titanium that looked all funky stonewased imo so I dad lasted them for this CK color . I m not looking to get anymore myself but probably will trade wit community members
Ive had an s35vn, s45vn and now a magnacut crk knives 2 sebenza and one inkosi. Fixed blade camping I use bark river Arora. I dont collect, but I love to use.
Congrats! I have the same knife with double lugs and a drop point. And I feel the same way. I have a bunch of nice knives, but I always go back to the magnacut small sebenza and I'm like, there isn't much else I need. I could pretty much carry that the rest of my life and be A-OK with it.
To answer your question: one knife for life ? That would be the CHRIS REEVE Small Sebenza 31 in MagnaCut and Drop Point blade ! Thanky you for this video 😃🤗💙
Concur mate. I’ve got 6 CRK’s and just too many others… just got a Small Seb 31 Insingo in Magnacut/double silver lugs from True North Knives. I know it’ll be the last I purchase, I’ve waited so long to get one. Keep on keeping on bud.
I've been feeling the same way. I've got a nice collection of fantastic, well designed a build knives. But I'd like to reduce the size and keep only those that I really intend on utilizing more than simply keeping them around. Five knives of mine I will never sell would be my Sebenza 21, Small Inkosi, TFF-H, Benchmade 87 and Case Medium Stockman. Those and my only multitool, a black Wave+
I feel the same way. But so much easier said than done. :P I just bought the Large in Magnacut yesterday. And while I think it'll be the final one. Sometimes there's just some fun and cool knives that pop up, ie I'm having fun with a $15 CRK Piet. And the one in 'between' the Large and Small of Sebenzas which is the Waypoint. :P And I know if Civivi releases a cool cheap knife it'll grab my interest.
Ive been where you are a few times. I don't like the mindset of collecting as it is an expensive hunt that never ends. I ended up selling almost my entire collection, and although it was tough to let go of a few pieces when they sold, I knew that I would never have put them on the market if I was not willing to let go. I ended up with 2 folders left, and that worked for about a year until I realized that I actually enjoy variety of knives and playing with/using them, but did not want to collect an abundance. So now I've put the number at 5, and made a nice wooden box to put them in for presentation. Its nice to have a small choice of high quality knives for variety's sake, as it gives more life to each knife you own as you end up getting tired of one or the other from time to time. The small Sebenza, the 940, Rcokstead are among them.
Hell no, that's always been bullsh*t spread by folks who've never actually handled any crk. Crk literally builds them this way. It's not late, its proper from the man who literally invented the frame lock
I agree with you bud. A lot of people ask me (a knife guy) what they should get for a knife. I always suggest dishing out the cash for the one they think they would end up with and be done with it. CRK are always my suggestion although, I have to admit that price tag can scare them off easy.
I just sold 6 CRK folders, half of them never carried, and a bunch of ZT and Spydercos. I still have 10 premium folders, but the Benchmade 940-1 is all I ever carry. My pistol collection was reduced by 25 (!!!) thus past year, because I don’t want to be a collector.
After getting 40 or so budget knives I’ve found for me it’s better to pass on them and get something worthwhile like this . I don’t pre order 💩ad don’t listen to hype
With that opening I thought you were going to review the crack you be sell'n on da street. Trying to impress with that crap is a total fail! KnifeMaker
