We really need dynamic leadership like this. The government is full of elderly people. The problem I have with that is elderly people reject the idea of any change. With the economic and technological trajectory we are currently on it could be dangerous.

I remember first seeing Andrew in a damn Reddit comment section. Next thing I knew, he was on the Democratic debate stage. The most sensible, LISTENER I have ever heard. Please run again.

What a breath of fresh air

What Andrew descibes is very similar to the Preferential Voting system we have in Australia. This allows minor parties to influence the outcome of an election giving voice to a greater proportion of the populace.

Still blows my mind people didn’t vote this guy for president. I have never seen another candidate as practical and down to earth.

Other key reforms: Zero stock trading for any govt employees while in office Pass laws to prevent ANY politician from working for lobbyists ever after office Same for military leaders and defense industry SCOTUS term limits Dramatic campaign finance reform (zero corporate dollars and even playing field for donors)

It's always fascinating seeing folks hate on Andrew Yang but never have a solution themselves.

As an Alaskan that voted for RCV and open primaries this made me happy to hear. The vote was extremely close and you know it was positive when both parties came out swinging against it.

I met him in person randomly when he was running for president and I remember telling him "I agree with everything you say but you are just to far ahead of the times for regular folk". I am glad he hasn't given up. He will be known as a visionary.

I loved Yang. First and only political campaign I ever donated to. He makes me feel so much saner every time he speaks.

These are the types of people who need to be president. Intelligent, collected, compassionate.

I have been a fan of ranked choice voting for years. More states need to adopt the system.

The US Founders clearly did not want party politics. George Washington even devoted his farewell address to warn about party politics. Yet, by creating a winner-take-all system, they guaranteed the US would be a 2 party country. Too bad the Founders never had a chance to study game theory.

As a Californian, I’m embarrassed that Alaska got ranked choice before us!

What's really horrific is how poorly public education systems teach students about the US election system. Most know about the electoral college but have no idea about how primaries work.

After hearing his platform during the '20 election, and then seeing how everything has played out since, I'd say this gentleman is perfect speaker for this topic. Thinking of writing him in on the ballot this year.

Ranked Choice Voting - THANK YOU Andrew Yang for going over this. We need to vote any effort to get this in your state. This is about the only thing that will save USA. God help us we need it for the Presidential Electron ASAP! Two "no choice" year should be encouragement enough.

His Political Party (the Forward Party) is in favor of term limits!

In Nevada we voted up ranked choice, but there was a small trick played on us where we have to vote that in 2 more times before it's enacted.

America, please do that. CGP Grey made a bunch of videos on this topic more than 10 years ago, and still it is just barely moved forward. This is very important to the world!

The fact he went to public school in Schenectady and became as kind and successful as he is made him earn my utmost respect.

1) Implement ranked choice 2) Make voting an opt out system and make voting day a federal holiday (because are you kidding me why isn't it one) 3) Overturn Citizens United Do literally any one of these and it would fix American politics significantly

I disagree with Yang on several issues, but he sure is a great guy and a damn good speaker. He’s absolutely right on a lot of things.

133k views in 3 days. That’s not enough. Get this video shared. It’s such a simple change. What we’re currently doing isn’t working and I think most people would agree.

The fact that this guy not even made to D party top 5 candidates, already prove how bad our system. We lack the mechanism to push capable people to lead country. Look what choices we have now, I feel guilty to select anyone on the ballot.

I desperately want us to do something like this. I like my politics nice and boring, with a side of stability. Bonus if most government officials believe in math and science. As Americans, we have to get out of this trend of internet rage and sensationalism.

PLEASE READ IF YOU LIKE RANKED-CHOICE: I encourage you to do research on STAR voting (score then automatic runoff). The idea is the same, increase third party viability but there are some minor tweaks which make it objectively better than ranked-choice. I'm surprised Yang brought up the 2022 Alaska election because it's a famous example of the center-squeeze effect and the fatal flaw of ranked choice. Basically, if you stacked Begich vs. Peltola and Begich vs. Palin and went through ballot by ballot, Begich would've won both match ups. He did this because he had a broad coalition of 2nd place votes but he got eliminated because he didn't get enough 1st place votes to make it through the first round. He was the candidate which closest represented the most people so in my opinion, that is the candidate who deserves to win. It's happened in multiple other elections as well and it happens frequently enough to where it's an issue. There are other problems as well, it's more complicated (there were miscounts in a California AND New York elections). And it requires the tallying to be centralized (less secure). STAR voting avoids a lot of these issues and it's more intuitive to vote because not only can you can which candidate you prefer, you can say HOW much you prefer them. Everyone wants to get rid of the two party system. There's a lot more I could get into but I hope I at least peaked your interest. TL;DR: I used to be a RCV supporter but after learning about STAR the choice was clear, it's just that less people know about it. Approval is good too.

Seems like a great solution to me. Andrew Yang is the only guy offering real solutions and actively trying to fix this mess of a system we have.

Yang is the Random Guy that Likes MATH, and can unite the RU-vid comments section that ran for president. A man that can unite the comment section can unite the country.

Just a few states adopting Alaska's system of a Nonpartisan Open Primary system combined with Ranked Choice Voting for the general could significantly enhance how our government serves the people. While there are various ideas to improve our government, changing our voting system is perhaps the most impactful and efficient way to bring about the necessary changes. Fix the incentives and we fix the system.

Among politicians Yang is the only adult in the room.
