I assisted our film colorist some 15 years ago on a freshly installed Baselight. Felt like operating a spaceship! I believe it cost around quarter to half a mill to have it installed and up and running. Truly amazing system.

This was so insightful, thank you! Did you enjoy your Baselight training in Munich, Douglas? I'm curious to find out what your thoughts are if you had to compare Resolve to Baselight.

Thank you Marieta! Yes Munich was really good! Comparing Baselight to Resolve is tricky but that would make a very interesting video :)

Awesome. I used a Tangent Wave when I first started grading and now use the Mini Panel, not a great deal of difference but the Resolve Panel feels so much more organic to me, but the Tangent is a very viable alternative. 👍😎

Thanks Brian! Yes, grading with a panel is a totally different experience. When you start using one, you can't go back haha

Filmlight does one thing very well about their panels, that blackmagicdesign does not. The form factor. Similarly to the Tangent Element, the panel is designed mainly horizontally. Compare that to the almost square BMD Mini Panel and you get why horizontal makes way more sense. It's way more comfortable and ergonomic.

Couldn't agree more. That's why I'm not using my keyboard much when grading in resolve and augment the functions of the mini panel with streamdecks on either sides. Although blackmagic's mini Panel is far more accessible than a slate for example.

@@thedouglasdutton, interesting. How much is this grading software? Is it worth the switch?
