Hi Dr Prasad , I developed female pattern baldness when I was 35 and have been taking Spironolactone since , with application of Minoxidil . I recovered my hair loss . But now I’m 60 years old and developed hair loss on the temples and frontal hairline which progressed for more than two years before I was diagnosed with Scarring Alopecia . I have taken Hydroxychloroquine 400 mg with Metformin 1000mg for more than 7 months now but the hair loss is still progressing . Now the Doctor has asked me to add Azathioprine 100 mg daily and Deflazacort 18 mg twice a week . Do you think this will work ? I’m scared of the immunosuppressant side effects of these drugs . Please help . Thank you Devika

Hi Pareen Sachdeva, We don't currently offer the treatment in India, but we do have many Indian patients coming to the US for treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.

Hi @abhinavakash9903, The treatment can thicken your remaining thinning hair, and stimulate growth from the dormant hair follicles you have left, but it can't save completely miniaturized hair follicles. There are some examples of Norwood 5 patients in the video, for your reference. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Dr Prasad, I am considering an acell treatment but I have a couple specific questions. I was googling about acell and found out it was powder so my question is: 1 Do you mix it with the plasma and then inject it into the skin or do you inject it separately? 2 If you inject it separately which kind of fluid do you mix acell with because according to the manufacturer it's a powder?

Hi H, PRP is the activator of extracellular matrix by ACell, so it is combined before injection. However, PRP does not automatically activate extracellular matrix, so there is a specific way to do it, which separates TrichoStem Hair Regeneration from other ACell+PRP treatments. Hi Jennifer Cox, As featured in the video, ACell+PRP treatments are not all equally effective as most medical practices using extracellular matrix by ACell are not experienced in getting the material to work in hair restoration. As the pioneer of this treatment protocol, and the benchmark in ACell+PRP getting dramatic results, and lasting 3-5 years from only 1-2 sessions, I can say that I have not seen results of exosome treatments exceed the results of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration. It's also important to keep in mind that over 99% of our patients are seeing visible improvement with hair thickness and scalp coverage, while exosome technology does not have the data yet to establish a patient success rate. Hi Hdlon Ldn, There are no similar treatments in London, as reported by our patients who come in from the UK. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Hey Dr. Prasad - I’m definitely interested but I have a question. I know ACell is derived from pig bladder cells. My question is when injecting or applying after microneeding, is there a risk the DNA from the Acell cause problems? (leak into sperm, change my dna etc) Or are the cells purified so only scaffold + growth factors remain?

Hi Kevin Cheng, Extracelluar matrix by ACell is thoroughly processed and purified so there isn't any biological properties remaining in the material. It is an FDA-approved material, and was used by the US military before it was used in the broader field of regenerative medicine. We've been administering the TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment since 2011, and I was using extracellular matrix by ACell before that time to expedite healing of surgical incisions, without any incident from the material. This is a tough question and ill delete afterwords. I found a Surgeon who does PRP-Acell near by. I know you cant speak about other doctors but besides the long term commitment of your clinic does your PPR-Acell therapy differ from my local doctor, assuming my local Doctor is talented, to justify flying into Virginia or NY?

Hi Jerry Caddie, The TrichoStem Hair Regeneration treatment is customized for each individual patient based on age, age on onset of hair loss, degree of hair loss, gender, and other medications used, so each formulation is different. Your doctor likely applies the same formulation to every patient. I have treated patients using this system since 2011, and other practices offering PRP+ACell are trying to duplicate our results, but aren't offering a customized treatment. You can ask your doctor about patient results, success rate (ours is over 99% in seeing improved scalp coverage), number of treatments (our is only 1-2) and longevity (ours lasts 3-5 years) so you can compare. Hi, great video! I’m currently 18 and have been slowly balding for about 9months, my hairline has gone back noticeably and my crown is thinning now. I’m extremely self conscious and don’t know what avenue to go down, I’ve got a book at a hair clinic next week but I was just wondering if you’d reccomend anything in particular? I think I’m going to get some regaine (5% minoxidil) and hopefully the doctor will prescribe me some Finasteride, please reply as I’m currently struggling with dealing with hair loss, thanks.

Hi Fraser Webb, If you have male pattern hair loss starting at 18, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning. Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily.The Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. For my patients your age, I usually come up with a treatment plan with finasteride to slow thinning, and Hair Regeneration for thicker hair growth. Hair Regeneration patients can stop or avoid minoxidil entirely. I hope this clarifies things for you.

I understand you are the lead expert in prp acell. Unfortunately because I already spent on a hair transplant 3 months ago I can not afford to fly to you plus the total cost of treatment. But because of your videos I demanded to get prp plus acell. They only used 50 mg from the 100mg bottle. I know everybody is different and that's were your practice shines but is 50mg a significant amount in general or is it more on the low side? Should I anticipate a good result in general or is 50 mg not enough?

Hi Jerry Caddie, I can't say whether or not it's a good amount because as stated in the video, our formulation is customized for individual patients based on gender, age, age of onset of hair loss, degree of hair loss, and other factors. Since I have not seen examined any of these factors for your situation, I can't say what will work best for you. Also, since extracellular matrix is difficult to work with even for experienced doctors, your doctor may not have the experience to get it to work, especially if they didn't offer it to you without your demand. Hello Dr, I am a 25 year old female with female pattern hair loss and I have done 4 prp treatments and have seen results. However there are some hair pores that haven't grown hair for me. my FPHL started at age 18 maybe a little before and id like to know what the benefits are of your prp+acell treatment and can they grow hair from pores that haven't grown hair with prp treatments?

Hi Mango z, The Hair Regeneration treatment works better than PRP alone at thickening thinning hair, and stimulating growth from dormant hair follicles, as well as sustaining thicker hair growth for 3-5 years, and even beyond. You won't need treatment as often, as most patients only have one treatment session, but some patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first to thicken fine hair growth stimulated by the first treatment. The treatment can stimulate growth from dormant but still viable hair follicles that may not have grown with PRP alone, but it cannot revive dead hair follicles. Hi doctor, I'm a 20 year old boy experiencing hair thinning since 18, I still have my head full of hair but it's slowly losing it's density and I can see my hairline has receding a bit. I've been taking finasteride 1.25mg per day for about 2 months, but I have research quite a lot and that alone is probably not going to be enough to regain my hair or even to prevent further miniaturization of the folicules, it just slows down the process. About your treatment, how often it needs to be administrated and how much it currently costs? I'm considering going to your clinic this year 2021, although I live in Argentina, so I wouldn't be able to stay there for further examination.

Hi Santi, The normal dosage of finasteride should be 1mg a day as prescribed. For someone your age with high DHT-sensitivity, the benefit of our treatment can be anywhere from 2-5 years, with finasteride still being used to block DHT for maximum results, and longevity of results. Our treatment only takes 1-2 treatment sessions, with the second treatment done 15-24 months after the first, and the second treatment is already included in the initial cost. Results for international patients are monitored through Skype, FaceTime, or email follow up. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Christopher malcom, Yes, which is much more convenient than other ACell PRP treatments that are done monthly or every 3-4 months, or PRP alone which is done every 1-3 months. Some Hair Regeneration patients with advanced hair loss get a second treatment 15-24 months after the first, but our patients don't require more than that for 3-5 years, and the booster is already included at no extra charge. Keep in mind that pattern hair loss is genetic, so it isn't cured, but has to be managed. DHT-blockers like finasteride, depending on your age and DHT-sensitivity, may be a requirement for younger men with high DHT-sensitivity, or suggested for best results for older men with lower DHT-sensitivity, as part of the hair loss management strategy. Hello doctor, I'm 23 and experiencing thinning on the crown of my head. My dermatologist recommended minoxidil. Could I simply use minoxidil now and switch to finesteride in the future if the minoxidil ever becomes less effective? Or am I risking losing more follicles by using only minoxidil for the time being? I would greatly appreciate a response.

Hi Fernando Wong, I do think finasteride is more beneficial than minoxidil as it can slow down and stabilize hair thinning, and it can be used long-term more predictably. If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. Minoxidil doesn't treat DHT, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation, so for Hair Regeneration patients your age with high DHT-sensitivity, I would also prescribe finasteride to extend the effectiveness of the treatment. Hi@@dutchmurderboys1415, I often mention the possible sexual side of effects of finasteride in my videos and comments, but also clarify that the chances are very rare at about 2% of patients. I've been prescribing finasteride since 1997, and I have not had a patient experience permanent side effects, and the very few that had them were able to restore normal function after stopping the drug. Hi azerty ytreza, PRP does improve lower eyelid skin quality, but it does not provide enough volume to improve hollowness, and replace a cosmetic filler. Hi Jay Bae, A diagnosis is needed to determine the cause of your hair loss. While an iron deficiency can cause hair thinning, it has to be a pretty severe iron deficiency to make an impact, so it is possible there is another cause. Hi teach D, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older Hair Regeneration patients don’t need maintenance drugs like finasteride, but finasteride can concurrently help younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss. PRP injections for hair loss are needed indefinitely.

Hi Jermaine Ellis, Hair taken from the true donor area, they are genetically resistant to the effects of DHT and thinning. However, at 28, you are too young for a transplant because your native scalp hairs will continue thin at a faster rate than can be transplanted due to high DHT-sensitivity, and you will expect more density than a transplant can achieve. With a transplant or not, or even a treatment like Hair Regeneration, you will still need a DHT-blocker like finasteride. Hair Regeneration patients can stop or forgo minoxidil. Hi Mohamed Fakroun, It's not level of the hormone DHT as all men have it, but DHT-sensitivity that contributes to male pattern hair loss. I prescribe finasteride to my male Hair Regeneration patients who start hair loss in their 20s-30s or younger, but men who start losing hair in their 40s are not as DHT-sensitive, so they may not require finasteride after the Hair Regeneration treatment. Hi Deva Kumar, We don't currently offer the treatment in India, but we do have many Indian patients coming to the US for treatment. Since it is a non-surgical treatment with little to no recovery time, and in many cases no additional treatment, you don't need an extended stay in the US. Many patients actually get back on the plane home the same day as treatment, but I don't recommend this for everyone as it is dependent on general health condition and age.

Hi Business Mastery Academy - Udemy, It is possible to save those hair follicles. Finasteride can slow progressive hair thinning, but it has a minimal effect in thickening thinning hair, and stimulating growth. Minoxidil won't thicken your hair, or stop hair loss, but it appears to delay the hair shedding cycle, and extends the hair growth cycle so you appear to have more hair on your head. You will have to use it daily to sustain these effects, but these effects can also decrease with time even if you use it daily. If you want to stimulate hair growth from dormant hair follicles and thicken thinning hair, look into the Hair Regeneration treatment featured in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi@@businessmasteryacademy-ude7279, Male pattern hair loss in early 20s is not a sign of excessive DHT, or underlying issues, but of high scalp sensitivity to DHT. All men have a significant level of DHT in their system, but not all men have a scalp sensitivity to DHT that causes hair thinning, and eventual hair loss. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Rocky Singh, I don’t administer PRP alone for hair loss because it has a limited effect on hair, usually just short-term hair growth. Also, the number of sessions needed does vary, and the longevity of results is unpredictable. Hair Regeneration is a PRP combination treatment where PRP is the activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hair Regeneration is a one-time treatment for most patients, and can last up to 5 years and beyond, depending on the aggressiveness of the hair loss pattern. You don't need repeat injections periodically, and many older Hair Regeneration patients don’t need maintenance drugs like finasteride, but I prescribe finasteride for our younger male patients with very early and aggressive hair loss due to high DHT-sensitivity as Hair Regeneration is not a DHT-blocker. Hi Zakh Cool, Hair that hasn't grown in two years may still have viable but dormant hair follicles. PRP alone is not likely enough to activate those hair follicles for long-term growth, as the effects of PRP are usually short-term growth. There are some possibilities such as your doctor not being confident in their ability to perform the operation, or the vascularity of the orbicularis oculi muscle causing bleeding. I suggest you ask your surgeon for more details about why they stopped the procedure. You can also find oculofacial/oculoplastic surgeon for a second opinion, and see if they can help you with going ahead with the procedure. I hope this helps you.

Hi Dino Zoe, No, it does not. Finasteride is the most popular male pattern hair loss drug in the world, and despite only 2% of men suffering from side effects, they are quite vocal about it. Hi DG, Platelet-rich fibrin matrix, or PRFM, is still PRP, but with calcium chloride added to make it thicker for slow release of wound healing and growth factors. PRP is not even the main ingredient of TrichoStem Hair Regeneration, and acts as activator of the main ingredient extracellular matrix by ACell. Hello Sir, I am from Bangalore India. Currently going through PRP treatment. Done first PRP and one dermaroller session after this my hair falling like anything. I met Doctor in next appointment and he told me this is good sign if you are loosing hair in PRP. Is it correct that hair fall in PRP treatment is a good sign? Hi Debdattaa Kar, Our Hair Regeneration treatment needs to induce thinning hair to shed so thicker hair grows in its place. In our experience, some patients occasionally have temporarily enlarged lymph nodes behind the ear, or along the neck, but this associated with the normal drainage process after treatment, rather than the extracellular matrix material itself. The enlarged lymph nodes do return to normal after normal drainage. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi@@debdattaakar2312, Swollen lymph nodes are part of normal drainage, so the condition is temporary, and only requires medical intervention if the swelling persists. 50-100 hairs are normally shed every day, and they do grow back. You may be more conscious about hair shedding after treatment, but it's a normal daily occurrence. Pattern hair loss only happens when shed hair grows back thinner, and/or there is a delay in regrowth. With scalp injection treatments like Hair Regeneration, thinning hair does need to shed before it can grow back thicker. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi isuru danoj, If you have male pattern hair loss starting in your 20s or younger, you are likely highly DHT-sensitive, and need a DHT-blocker like finasteride to control it, and slow hair thinning. The Hair Regeneration treatment can thicken thinning hair, and stimulate growth from dormant hair follicles, but it cannot block DHT-formation. DHT can have the opposite effect on body hair where it grows thicker and longer, so you can have thicker than usual body hair while having thinning hair at the scalp. I'm 23 healthy male, I'm on finasteride for 6 week 1mg/day. Last 2 week ago I noticed that I lost my morning erection. I went to doctor and he told me "morning erection isn't that much of a concern if you don't have problem with sex drive". Then I searched about it in the internet and I found that lack of morning erection is a sign of erectile dysfunction. I don't have any side effects except loss morning erection. Please I need your advice should I quit finasteride? I appreciate your help.

Hi Ahmed Mahmood, Sorry to hear that. I would have to defer to your doctor as they know more details about your situation. Keep in mind there are many causes of erectile dysfunction, such as lack of sleep, exercise, poor diet, and stress, so it is not necessarily finasteride causing it, and sexual side effects from finasteride are pretty rare. I advise that you look at other lifestyle habits first, and see if things improve. You can stop it temporarily to see if things improve, but a DHT-blocker is important for someone your age as you are highly DHT-sensitive if you have pattern hair loss this early. Hi My Creation, There are many individual patient variables contributing to hair shedding such as aggressiveness of hair loss, blood pressure, etc., plus technique of treatment like use of anaesthetic, use of microneedling as a delivery system, and others, so it's not an either or, or yes or no answer. Hi Adnan A, While this video is not about hair transplants, it should be known that hair transplants are not permanent solutions to hair loss due to progressive thinning of native hair, if thinning isn't treated.
