Over a decade at war has left hundreds of thousands of American military service members completely depleted. Living and operating in high-stress conditions, overtraining, under-eating, and lack of sleep have taken their toll on an entire generation of American warriors.
The team at Core Medical Group opened my eyes to not only the benefits of HRT but the great necessity it has become for veterans.

Please know that you are needed. This country would be hell on earth had it not been for you and our service members. We are working to assist you from the civilian side for effective efforts so that you can see how you are needed in times of peace just as in times of war. The VA nearly killed me with misdiagnosing everything. I was a purple heart vet of Iraq, came home, and fell apart. The VA basically gave me a bag of meds. I got worse. Finally, after years of back and forth, I have finally gotten with a TRT telehealth clinic (not this one) and the TRT has genuinely fixed 95% of what the VA meds were trying to mask.
@jeffreykolfage3687
@jeffreykolfage3687 3 года назад
Almost the same experience for me. The VA kept trying to drug me up with SSRI's and finally an assistant in the mental health department, not even a doc, just someone that was doing my intake, said "Let's check your Testosterone." My Primary agreed to put me on TRT and it cured EVERY ISSUE that I was experiencing. Then, they switched Primary's on me, gave me a female Doc and she said, "Nope, you can just do it naturally like my husband does." (she referred to her husband in regards to all my ailments. "Oh, bad back? No I can't give you just one emergency pain reliever so you can get to Emergency when your back goes out. Just strengthen your core like my husband does) The VA sets the threshold for prescribing TRT at 300, which I've heard is comparable to the levels of Test found in an 80 year old diabetic man.

That's because your body makes estrogen from testosterone. Men don't realize that when they don't produce enough testosterone, they don't produce enough estrogen either. We naturally need a small amount of estrogen to aid in joint lubrication, sex drive and a few other things. When a man gets his test levels up, his whole hormone profile starts operating smoothly again.

I grew up getting tortured in foster care, then later spent my teen years fist fighting my 6’5 Dad. Spent 2yrs of doing CrossFit in my early 30’s and felt terrible. Couldn’t make much progress then I got my hormone panel and I was at around 170 level. Trauma absolutely tanks your hormones even in civilian life. Trt needs to be normalized. Just went to a new doctor that told me they didn’t care what my background was and they would never refill my trt because I didn’t need it. #normalizetrt

Former Navy Corpsman here. I've done a great deal of research on TRT. If you take one test, it doesn't tell the entire story. Testosterone fluctuates all the time, and not just daily, or weekly etc...but throughout the day. Luckily for me, my Dr (a D.O. not and M.D.) is a former Air Force medical officer who knows my background and actually listens. One lab test does not a diagnosis make. If you have no problems with your prostate, or liver it should be harder for your doctor to turn you down. Hell, give up alcohol altogether to help your case, you won't regret it. If you're going to research it, and then print out your findings and take it to your Doctor (like I did) don't go with Web MD, or any of the generic sites, look at the Mayo Clinic site. No one, or very, very few Doctors will doubt them. Weight gain, no energy, motivation in the cellar, trouble concentrating and staying on task etc... I ticked pretty much every box for low T and my Dr agreed. Just waiting for it to come in now. Best of luck brothers. You fought or were willing to fight when you wore a uniform, now fight for yourself. It might cost you some $$$ but it's worth it in the end.
@tidefanyankee2428
@tidefanyankee2428 3 года назад
One more thing. In the video Nick talked about being depressed. Ah....YEAH, but depression is one of the major the symptoms, not the root cause. I'm not a doctor, but it doesn't take 4 years of medical school to know that someone who came from his background (mine was similar as a Corpsman with the Marines) is going to be depressed if they have no drive, no motivation, foggy thinking, weight gain etc....if their testosterone is low. From the research I've done, even if your test is within the "norm" (for most people) it might not be adequate for YOU. Weight gain around the middle alone has a host of other medical problems. Heart disease, joint problems (from carrying the extra weight) etc..... FIND a doctor who will listen. It's not like you're asking to be Mr Olympia, you just want to feel normal again.

You’re not alone... 4/28 green then blue line. Services here will not accept my insurance, therefore out of pocket. With a senior in h.s. And wife not working nor even driving, I could not continue this full on out of pocket services with a large established practice in southern Nevada. The doctor is an army veteran to add to the disappointment. He is well knowledgeable, respected and both established and liked. Nonetheless, two sons out of college and helping their bills, my daughter and our own c.o.l.a. I had to quit so as to make ends meet. Yep, levels dropped, crashed and I am now not giving a damned about how the neighbors, families etc are. Hearing , reading about the liberals destroying our nation , hate of our police and military, this doesn’t help. You’re not alone in feeling simply -bland, burnt, no energy, no zest for the beauty of the mornings and sunsets. Lousy sleep, lousy appetite, I lived in the gym, heavy and speed bag, a workout rat though nothing of physical imposing statute, lol. Do the best you can and focus on you! If you don’t take care of you, you then cannot help those you care about! Remember our blue line bibled advisories in briefings across the nation, reference code 3’s, “You can’t help if you don’t arrive”! Same credo for you and your family, loved ones. Fix you and then focus on your downed brothers, sisters etc. as fo me, whatever... As Adam Calhoun says it best, ‘life goes on...’ Maybe I’ll also find my assistance here in the city where everyone is in for themselves, their smile may actually be a growl but silent. Silicone, Botox, fake tans and scheming bast’ds. This place is full of it, just m .02 cents of irrelevance. Thanks for serving both our green and blue line brother. Your not alone in this.... Cheers!

GREAT video. About a year ago, I realized I needed help with my "PTSD" and... well, depression. MASSIVE drinking problem (all day) and pill abuse just to get to sleep. I regained being ridiculously active and lifting and that was "enough" for me, until my doc said my T levels between two years of our visits had gone from 409 to 917. I realized that I was fuckerdly lucky with my body chemistry and encouraged two of my USASOC buddies to do the same: train like you're still being told to. It worked for one, but not the other. This guy, I told him that even though my better state correlated with my hyper-increase in activity (running, rucking, lifting, shooting, teaching), my doc noted a massive increase in testosterone. This gave him the idea to get on Test (he was already doing as much, if not more, than I was) and within less than a month I had my buddy back. There's something to this - thanks for raising awareness, and keep pushing.

Word of caution to guy’s considering HRT I was on HRT for 3 years in my mid-twenties, I’m currently 30. I went on it because I took steroids in early college and it f$&&ed my hormones up after permanently. So also a word of caution- avoid pro hormones and roids if possible. Some guys can take those things and be fine - myself on the other hand did it for 6 months and messed up everything - then again I had no idea what I was doing. Be careful of clinics/docs that promise too much with HRT. It’s not going to address poor lifestyle factors, poor diet, etc. If you haven’t addressed potential other causes like sleep apnea, diet, exercise, thyroid function, general health, HRT may not give you significant benefit- I’m speaking just from personal experience. And it HRT Does have potential side effects- not everybody get’s them but they do exist- especially if your not managed correctly. My hematocrit, hemoglobin levels were off the charts at times, my estradiol was hard to control, my acne went through the roof, I started having male pattern baldness and thinning hair- all in 2-3years. If you’re going to do it- go with a legitimate physician who know’s what they’re doing (easier said than done). I was being treated by a mainstream urologist who ran a male health clinic and the dude and no idea about how to manage guy’s on HRT. I was taking both T and HCG and yeah maybe felt a bit better- my total T went from low 300s to sometimes >1000 but it’s a moot point if you’re estradiol is not controlled and you have other medical co-morbidities you have not treated/managed. I can relate with others - it can be very difficult finding a physician who will actually treat low T- I saw several endo’s who wouldn’t touch it unless one’s levels were very, very low like sub-200. Everyone’s Normal is different. Some guys need much higher levels to feel good. Others may feel good at 300- it just depends and is actually very complex. Probably the Biggest thing that helped my T levels and I’ve been Off HRT now for 3-4 years was treating my really bad sleep apnea, and I’m not the classic obese, humongous dude either. If you’re even remotely considering HRT, evaluate your sleep with a quality sleep med doc and sleep study. You may be surprised at what they find- and treating that Plus if needed HRT will have even more off an added benefit. You sleep 33% of your life. It’s where the majority or your healing and production of T and growth hormone occur- so treat it and if you’re still low and feel like shit then treat with HRT. And nothing against Core medicine- but I’m wary anytime I see dude’s pushing HRT who are jacked out of their f$&$ing minds. They’re likely taking other stuff on top of the standard script T and HRT now is a for-profit business - they may not have your best interest in mind. Just be careful and mindful before jumping into anything and you’ll be good! Done with my speal. Best of luck guy’s!

Find a private Dr with education and experience specifically with TRT therapy. In my experience that's not going to be a woman and most likely will be and OD and not an MD. Osteopaths take a much more balanced holistic view of the human body versus the MD's "Here's a pill or let me cut on you" approach. It's worth every cent it costs to get your life back! For the ignorant ones out there, ODs go to 4 years of med school, pass the same board exams, and residency programs as MDs.

@@bwizzy9218 1 checkup with labs per year @ ~$225 with the doc to check T, E, and PSA levels. Oh and the fickle finger of doom check 😳 to make sure the old prostate ain’t doing anything it’s not supposed to do. 1 bottle of Testosterone Cypionate lasts about 1.5 months at about $75/bottle. I control estrogen & metabolite levels with an OTC supplement called DIM 300 mg that runs about $25/3 month supply. I control DHT/prostate PSA levels with a OTC supplement called Megabetasitosterol that runs about the same as the DIM. I just turned 49 and my levels and PSA are always perfect. I take the supplements twice daily. If you are concerned with testicular atrophy (ball shrinkage) you might want to ask the doc about Human Chorionic Gonadatropin (HCG) injections. Some docs will prescribe it in conjunction with TRT. Mine won’t but he’s super cheap to go to. It’s a hormone found in pregnant women’s urine. It keeps your balls from shrinking up to the size of shelled almonds and helps you maintain sperm production if you want to make babies. It’s a P.I.T.A. to deal with. You have to mix it before injection as it comes as a solid crystalline form that you dissolve in bacteriostatic water. It’s supposedly expensive to buy too. I looked into it and decided not to go that route. YMMV. There are men’s forums out there that go into crazy detail about what different docs prescribe and what OTC supplements to use. T-nation and Excelmale are two I’ve seen if you want to deep dive and look for doctor referrals that are worth going to. Some will do telemedicine appointments and ship you all the supplies(drugs, syringes, etc.) for a fixed monthly or yearly fee. Good luck.

My advice to everyone I suspect may have low T is go to a doctor, get your blood work done, and then go with a doctor recommended treatment. If you want to feel good and live your best life, healthy testosterone levels are so damn important. Just don’t use it if you don’t need it cause that’s how you can mess yourself up. I found this video by mistake. I am 28, I'm a Excorrections officer, Vet, and currently a firefighter. I've had depression, couldn't ever lose the belly fat, build muscle had low energy. I was actually talking to an ExGF at the time who was a therapists. She said this is BS and miss leading and my levels are fine. I ignored her and went to get my blood checked and yes I gave Low T. Mine is low at 223. So gonna try this and give it a shot.

If testosterone replacement becomes mainstream, then what is the long term solution? If we don’t naturally raise them, we are just becoming weaker generation after generation and becoming dependent on medicine.

Nick....thank you for making this video!! After 10+ years with the VA to try to figure out how to keep from driving myself off a cliff....I feel like a different person now. After watching this video, I went outside the VA to a TRT clinic where I'm at to find the my T level was 173....I'm three weeks in on these shots and so many things have changed...I know I still have a long way to go, but thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I wrote a psychiatric medical text with thousands of citations. I made a case for testosterones, growth hormone and nootropics. I also show where the rest of the world bans long term benzo use because it causes brain damage. Serotonin drugs cause a flat affect. I wrote it to help humanity. I am happy to send a free copy to anyone. I have no merchandise, products or services to sell. This is not a sales pitch but rather my attempt to say this thing that needs to be said! The treatment paradigms, for the most part, are toxic in the USA.

Testosterone replacement therapy is essentially a low dose steroid cycle, injecting testosterone will crash SHBG and will cause testicular shutdown. Meaning you wont be fertile when on trt. This is why if you want to come off TRT you need HCG and SERMs to restart your testicles. The "Estrogen blockers" he was refering to was probably AIs (aromatase inhibitors) they are needed if your cycle is too high of a dose so your body will aromatise the excess testosterone into estrogen. This high estrogen side effect from poor cycle design is probably why TRT has a bad rep because high estrogen will make you very bitchy (like a woman going through her period) as well as possibly causing female breast development (gynocomastia). There is also injection frequencies, there are different esters on testosterone. There is testosterone propionate, enanthate, Acetate, cypionate, decanoate, ect. Each ester has a different half life (how long it lasts in the body) so for example Test E (enanthate) lasts a week, so a TRT dose would be 150ml per week up to 250 per week, so every week at the same time you will have to inject the testosterone at the same time (preferably in the ass cheek ) the higher the dose there more possible it is for side effects, if there are side effects then you will have to run your high dose with an AI, or lower the dose.
@kcummo
@kcummo 3 года назад
💯!!! Absolutely correct. That’s why getting blood work done on the regular when you’re first starting is extremely important. But also, different guys will feel better at different levels. And it takes a while for gynocomastia to set in. So if you don’t have labs on your estrogen levels, you’re gonna be behind the ball. More artificial Test=more estrogen=less Test that’s naturally produced. If you’re going to do this, you really need to have labs done on the regular, and you need to start with getting good sleep, exercising and eating REAL foods. If you’re shoveling processed foods down your throat, TRT isn’t going to fix that.

Not a veteran but close to 50. I started T therapy about a year ago and I can tell you from my experience it has been a very positive experience. I sleep better, my mood is more stable and my energy levels have increased. I lift weights 3 to 4 times a week and I truly feel that lifting, eating better, and T therapy has been a positive in my life. If your thinking about T therapy after watching this video please find a doctor and talk to him/her. You won't regret it.

I’m a veteran of 17 years, multiple tours etc. I tried TRT for the better part of a year and only seemed to fuck me up even more. Did constant blood work to ensure proper levels. It completely destroyed my sleep. I’ve been off now for 6 weeks and feel a hell of a lot better. My libido and muscle mass took a bit of a hit that’s about it. I’m not at all bashing TRT but perhaps it’s not for everyone.

TRT is not in a vacuum its functional medicine. And all TRT patients need referred to get a sleep study and CPAP. What came first the sleep apnea or the hypogonadism? We have no idea, so we treat both. Also thats Cortisol and with TBI we have to treat the Cortisol at the same time. Along with Vitamin D. So its complicated, and you need a quality doc who knows what they are talking about. And doesnt use TRT as a mono therapy, nor who only focuses on labs. Labs only tell you part of a story we treat symptoms. Just because someones testosterone is 1k total, ddoesnt mean their Free T is good. Which is why we focus on the Free T get it to around 55ngdl. And then work our way aroung the hormone cascade to get to root causes.

3:55 this describes me 100% for over a decade. I keep saying exactly these words, "I lack purpose." I struggle just to make basic phone calls, such as to schedule routine maintenance to my house, or to schedule an appointment. In 2008, the VA gave me handfuls of pills to take and within a couple months, I made my first, of two, failed attempts at suicide. I got a job to deploy to Afghanistan (twice) and went cold turkey. Felt better for awhile, but since I've been back, I've gone back to feeling horribly. Left my DoD career to open a brewery - failed (partner stole $60,000 from me) - went to college, and now I can't get a respectable job to save my life. I need to rediscover my purpose. Every day is a struggle. Thanks for this, Nick. Going to look into this today.
