@@pyro9429 Yep but here's my problem i don't want them making it simple, i feel the coaster builder we have in 1 is just about balanced as it is, still can be improved don't get me wrong, its not perfect but as said its balanced enough. Most i've seen moan about it just seem to refuse to take the time and learn how it all works as if they want their built rides to work out of the box when they have hardly played or want to make silly coasters that don't really match up to a game that is meant to be somewhat realistic at its core. For real i hope they don't cater to those players since by trying to make everyone happy you're for sure gonna push the other group away and sure enough i don't want it too simple, it was a fun challenge to overcome and didn't make the game boring or that annoying to play. After all its a management sim game too so its meant to get you thinking on how to do things, failure will happen to you in some way. Unless you just stick to blueprints all the time then you will avoid that failure of your coaster not working as well as you hoped. But as said if you learn it the coaster builder isn't that hard to get the hang off in fact i hardly ever have to re edit my coaster rides almost as i've gotten so used to know how fast said ride will go round in my own head i can just build it that good near everytime.

Its funny you said Planet Coaster was not the perfect game by any means, I've always felt it was as close to perfect as I've seen a game ever achieve. This is my opinion, take it for what it's worth. The graphics were solid, the themes were fun to work with, the soundtrack was absolute money and the creativity it unleashed almost has no upper limit. You can spend months crafting a dark ride if that's your thing or build yourself a park and spend countless hours just watching the guests enjoy what you've created and tweaking your rides, scenery, whatever. And everything you did, was easily and instantly shareable with the whole world. Not a second I ever spent in that game felt wasted, and that's a rare thing for a studio to accomplish. Planco 2 will be a monument to the genre, I can't wait.

I would even go further back. I had a Panasonic 3DO when they came out and one of my favorite games was Theme Park. Everyone loved that game. This idea that there was something bad about Planet Coaster is bonkers to me. I am almost 50 and I started playing video games at the age of 2. My grandmas brother-in-law, my great uncle had the original video game, and controller. There was only one controller, so to play tennis against him, one of us had to use wires to play. You took two wires that were hooked up to the Oscilloscope. Depending on how you moved the wires. It was so long ago I don't remember the details. But I think you started with them close together, and if you moved one wire in a direction slowly it would go in that direction. If you went fast it did another thing. And, if you touched them it did something else. I haven't watched the video yet, but the main reason I write what I think before watching is to make sure bias doesn't set in. I want to use my thoughts first, so I cannot be swayed by the videos thoughts. If that makes sense. And, then I watch the video to see how we compare on thoughts. I think people would have been amused if Planet Coaster was half as good. Meaning somewhere in the middle of RCT3 and Planet Coaster and people would still have loved it. Frontier always seems to go hard.

So many games are afraid to give players this level of creative freedom. I am a huge geek when it comes to building coasters. I spent up to 20 hours on building a single realistic coaster because I calculate the alteration rate of angles etc. No theming. I would really love to see even more options in PlanCo2 for geeks. However the game should also make it easier for casuals to build a coaster. So please more way more real existing prebuild coaster, 50 for example. I want coasters like Toutatis and Voltron etc. Also more prebuild elements such as multiple kinds of airtime hills and other elements for example a stengel dive. Also more options to modifiy that prebuild element. More prebuild elements and coasters would benefit geeks and casuals. Imagine being able to install all your favorite coasters in one park... Anyway PlanCo2 will be fantastic!
@RudiRennkamel
@RudiRennkamel Месяц назад
100% agree on that! And I also genuinely feel the coaster builder in PC is the perfect foundation. You COULD get it very nice if you spend 20 hours like you, but you also COULD click together a decent coaster in 30 mins. However, would be nice if we reduce both by factor 10. 3 mins for a prefab drag and drop design - and 2 hours for an expert ride.

You are talking about Frontier, so I highly doubt the game is going to be like Cities Skylines 2. Frontier has always gone hard, when it has come to these types of games. The trailer says it all. The graphics are way better, so you know they put love there. Almost everyone wanted water parks in the game, they did that, and that looks amazing as well, so they put love there. They fixed the pathing or so they say, which is love there. Even though I didn't mind the pathing, it was way better than RCT3. Planco did what it set out to do, and it did well against its limitations and somewhat poorly timed development with the shift in available technology being pushed back that the devs were betting on being available. I rely like its stylised 'gamey' appearance and how it freed up terrain better and how much freedom there was to make dark rides - as much as they were let down by the dated lighting engine, and the whole devs being fans is clear as it seems like they had so much fun designing and detailing the rides but in the process robbed fans of that joy with verry set themes for the flat rides and little chance to alter them to fit a different theme. however the door for a sequel has been left wide open and it is about time for the new lighting engine, pathing system, resizable props and detailable rides, and it is the right time for a renaissance in the community that it'll fly off the shelves, the King is Dead, Long live the King

I think the big thing you missed that made PlanCo such a treasure was the community. I don't even think the community understands, and I think what I'm about to post is going to be hard to hear for so many. ~ The community started so innocently and built momentum into this grandiose world of sharing, collaborating, and encouraging one another. We all participated in critiquing and teaching new ideas, testing boundaries, and maintaining the peace by utilizing competitions and stuff to help keep the cool. Unfortunately, however, the community went quite sour with so many cliques, egos that became leaders of the community (and favored by Frontier), and refusal to resolve conflicts or see differing psychological skills and abilities. The community saw the game as an escape from reality, and any negativity on any level was immediately outcasted, which is ironic because reality is unescapable in that sense: humans have emotions, and the toxic masculinity among countless other biases warped the community into communities until there was only individuals. With Planet Zoo, the community hoped that something could be restored, but the Zoo community has a very different outlook (not negative, just different), and I don't think I ever really saw a zoo community unite the way the PlanCo community united. In fact, many of the PlanCo uniqueness and creativeness was tossed aside as toxic because it wasn't realistic to a zoo, and those players vanished like silent victims of a serial killer. Yes, of course there are still realms of love and prosperity in both communities, but the energy and unwritten structure still outcasts so many people from accomplishing or feeling they are a part of something. Some of that is due to how massive a community has gotten taking away the authenticity of checking in on friends or whatnot, and some of that is hurt and betrayal from the unresolved trauma that past communities provided - the victimization, the outcasting, the lying or twisting of realities due to biased perceptions and games of "telephone". I see the hype and hope of community once again with the announcement of PC2. I love it, and I too sorely hope that unity can be found once again. But I also know (from training and personal experience) that this is gravely unlikely. The best we can hope for is to find that one friend that can round up a crew to feel united with, and that saddens me more than anything. If maybe we could try to be vulnerable and share our weaknesses in the celebratory style we did in the past, if maybe we could be more empathetic and less proud, and if maybe we could put a pause on judging "weird" people, but try to get to know them (cycling back to the vulnerability) so we can understand their perspective and how they fit into the community, maybe we would get just barely back to the beginnings again. But history has shown that it's bound to repeat itself, so I say those words with fear in my heart rather than hope. Who knows, maybe a new voice will rise to the challenge and help the community become one again. I don't think it could ever be one of the "celebrities" on Twitch or RU-vid as they unfortunately have the tainted chance of privilege to burden their image; but I would hope that whoever rises to that challenge can succeed and be welcomed openly and willfully by all: community, outcasts, and "celebrities" alike. ~ Yes, I know that is some very hard truth to hear. And it's easy to attack and jump the gun pointing out this is my perspective: that is fair. However, note, that you, too, have felt those same feelings community, perhaps even been the "perpetrator" accidentally or purposefully. We have a lot of healing to do, and it starts with each one of us willingly seeking out the help to change and improve -- not perfect, but improve. Let's celebrate our "f***ups" and mistakes by being open and loving. Let's stop reaching only for perfection and outcasting imperfections, when the imperfections, like the glitches of these games have become some of the best bits of code to our DNA.
@RudiRennkamel
@RudiRennkamel Месяц назад
There is a lot of truth in here. A full answer to this would not even fit in the figure limit of RU-vid comments. However - all I can say is, that I reached that point many years ago. And decided to step away from this a little to secure myself. I never asked for this position I am in, I grew with the PlanCo train into this position and always thought I´ll be able to support everyone, to support every POV. But its impossible. Its the same in life with normal "jobs" frankly. At some point you need to be careful how much emotions and collaboration you let in - because it will (not may), it will be used against you eventually. I experienced that in every part of my life. And I do know, that many "innocent" creators reached that point. Which i believe is exactly what you described where the "bond" was cut. Unfortunately I do thing its a matter of size. When Planet Coaster emerged, we even had community meetings in efteling where people joined from all across the world. And it was already "half" of the core community. People *actually* knew each other. This time is long gone, Frontier is not the same studio anymore and nor is the gaming market in general. All I can do from my perspective is welcoming everyone to a second amazing ride, supporting everyone and sharing love. But from my position as creator and passionate fan. Not as "normal" community member - cause I am not. Not anymore. My reach and connection to Frontier simply creates a different sense of responsibility. (I still believe I am a small no one, but thats not true from a simply objective observation)

I really cannot understand the criticism on the graphics of PlanCo1, where some of the most enjoyed games in the world ever are just pixels and blocks. Your game can look photoreal and amazing with terrabytes of textures and the best shaders: if it's a shit game, it will always remain a shit game.

Well it depends. As for the people I agree. However the rest is leaned more towards realism. This is why I said the technology aged not super well (AA, lighting etc ) - planco 2 fixes this

I honestly think the guest of PlanCo are amonst THE best people in any game ever made. Let me explain why (despite they obviously don´t like realistic) RCTW or Prehistoric Kingdom, Theme Park World, Cities Skylines etc have horrible looking People unintentionally. PlanCo has comicy looking People by design! This is the major difference. They decided to go that route to avoid the trap of creating monsters. Because lets face it - Hardware isn´t quite there to animate 1000s of detailed, animated and rigged people. So they lowered the complexity and solved it with a design. I have to say, the step forward in graphics in Planet Zoo with super realistic animals made the difference a little too obvious when you´re up close. But as soon as you zoom out, it turns into a super believable and authentic crowd. Nicely animated. And I prefer this over frankenstein people that attempted realism but failed.

Planet Coaster on PS5 was absolute garbage. You could only build one rollercoaster and if it wasn't a big one, you might be able to build a path to it. That's about it.

@@brentsocie5754 you can run planet coaster on a GTX 960 (a 10 year old card which cost $200 then), and now can likely run it on a 3050 ($150) or lesser And yeah if you own old hardware what do you expect? In what industry do they support old models? Maybe the military, lmao. Sorry your video games aren’t a military installment haha

The nonsense answer most will provide you with: "because it's so damn good and came from the original developers". The real answer to this question would be that the game was (and still is) heavily marketed through social media (e.g. RU-vid) and most people are truly blind to all its design flaws. Management, pathing, User Interface and the overall user experience in general are just poorly implemented. The game is solely focused on decoration and frills instead of actual gameplay and missions to conquer, which used to be the staple of RCT 1, 2 and 3.

I see your point regarding scenarios and I do also somehow feel the same. however, a avg 85%+ rating accross ALL serious critics is undeniable a great game. Moreover I have the feeling, that a small group of management-fanatics are not getting tired of always blaming those games. Its the modern era, you see it in almost every game past 2010. Do I like this? no. But its what a majority demands. However, UI - and I am literally working with amazing UI-devs day in day out, is most certainly not a flaw. Its a great UI for its time and complexity. Already improved in Planet zoo. And really improved on console. Can you do it better? Can you name better examples that have such a complexity? I find it very harsh to jump in with these types of comments without evidence of a common understanding. Which is exactly why I used the critics and the history as context.
