Why Was SAL MINEO Murdered? Death Site | SUNSET MARQUIS 

I lived in that apartment complex from '79-81. Sal was a beautiful kid and his murder was a great shock to actors of my generation. May his soul rest in peace.

I'm truly shocked that this cold blooded murderer was parolled after only 11 years, no justice for poor Sal😥

Never knew the story of Sal’s murder. It was so senseless. His murderer sentenced for 51 years just to be paroled after 11 years is outrageous. No real justice for Sal. Murderers should never be eligible for parole. Sal still had so much more to give and live but got robbed of his life by a total stranger. So sad. Love the guitars and everything on Sunset. So sad, that the trio from "Rebel without a cause" died so young and so tragically.

I was about 12 years old when he was killed and I remember it really had an effect on me, it was so violent. The last thing I saw him in was an episode of 'Ellery Queen' that was a great show that was cancelled too soon.

I saw him in Exodus. Sad ending to his life. At the end where you showed The Who reminded me of 1967 (yes im old) when Keith Moon drove a Lincoln continental into the swimming pool of the Holiday Inn in Flint Michigan on his 21st birthday. He also destroyed a toilet in his room. I am from Flint.

Regina Hall mentioned on The View when she first came to Hollywood she lived in Sal M. home.

Nice video and it is fun that you visit the sites, etc. Sal was not killed for drug money and then never robbed so instead they stab him in the chest and leave everything - watch, car keys, everything left. That is NOT how it works. It was a hit, so now you can investigate further if you like.

Last thing I saw Sal Mineo in was 1975 episode of Columbo's "A Case Of Immunity". I think he died a year later. Sad story but a great vlog. And he lived in the next building to where Marilyn & Shelley lived was pretty cool info.

It's also very spooky that fate was so cruel to all three lead actors in Rebel Without a Cause dying young in tragic circumstances.

His murder was such a sad day for Hollywood and the world. As you say he was so very talented and generous to other young actors in assisting their careers such as Don Johnson. My cousin was a doctor in Hollywood and treated such stars as Sal. Also as you say Sal was not shy about his gay life at all. He did not identify himself as straight and to my knowledge he rarely would identify with Bi. But what the hell it's Hollywood and now a new day who cares. The fact is he was a star among stars and is missed.

My family lived in the Bronx New York, my cousin Pat and lifelong friend Angelo were very close friends with Victor Mineo Sal's brother. And that's how my family became very close to the Mineo family. Sal's mother sent Sal to acting school when he was very young. He was discovered in the Bronx. he got his first big break, he played the eldest son on Broadway in The King and I, starring Yul Brynner. Eventually Sal out grew the part. And was laid off, sal's mother was very upset, she was speaking to my Aunt Molly on the phone one night "I don't know what we're going to do, Sal lost his part, my Aunt Molly said "they'll call him to Hollywood you'll see. And sure enough he got his first movie with Charlton Heston in the private war of major Benson. Sal's mother and father wanted my uncle to chaperone sal to Hollywood while he was filming that particular movie in Anaheim California, Saint Catherine's military academy on Harbor Boulevard, which is still there. After that his career took off with Giant and Rebel without a cause. We Had just moved to Highland Park California, And Sal was shooting Rebel without a cause, he came to my Aunt Molly's house to visit her and my uncle Dick, I remember sitting across the kitchen table from Sal Mineo, he had a black leather motorcycle jacket on, he stayed for quite a while had dinner. I never forgot that, Victor my cousin Pat and his friend Angelo would see each other quite often, including Sal when had time in between films. That was the first and last time I ever saw Sal Mineo. He was a great actor. A very sad ending.

I had just seen him in his New Play, "Fortune And Mens Eyes" at the Coronet Theater on La Cienega. In that cast was an unknown young actor by the name of Don Johnson. Sal was about 7 years older than me, but I followed his career for years. It was such a shock to hear the news when it happened. He was a great actor. He already had proven that, but because it was a different time, being gay, or bi was a career destroyer. He would have had a long successful career if he had lived. Thanks for the flashback. What a horrible death. Poor Sal stabbed in the heart like that. You can tell that is where he must murdered. That picture Jordan shows really lines up with the outside of the building where his body was found. Can't believe that guy only got 11 years and was paroled.Maybe it had something to do with just being 17 at the time he committed the murder. It is a tragedy about those Rebel Without a Cause stars. Natalie Wood outlived Sal and James Dean and still died to young when she drowned. What was really creepy about Natalie Wood's death is they say since she was a child she always had a fear of the water.It was like a premonition, they reopened that case several years back but they still couldn't prove foul play
