I used to sell racquets at Paragon Sporting Goods in NYC. Endorsements had a lot to do with the success of these racquets. The POG 110 was used by many pros especially Agassi, Chang, Seles and Sabatini. The Wilson ProStaff 85 original was used by Sampras, Edberg, Courier and Evert. I had a client who played with both. He liked the control of the original ProStaff and the spin of the POG. The Prince Graphite 90 was a really good racquet and would have sold more if there were professional endorsements; it was recommended for serve and volley players - a playing style that is now rarely used. Recently I bought a Prince Phantom 107G - it borrows the Phantom name but plays like a modern POG that is lighter (but not too light) and better at absorbing shock thanks to the inclusion of Textreme material. I also recall the Wilson original ProStaff came in a 125 sq. inch head size with an unusual throat design. There was also a Prince 120 super oversize graphite at one time.

Still playing with the POG since the late 80's. Immaculate control, plow through and feel. A classic deadly weapon if you can weild it. Used by Agassi, Courier, Sabatini, Seles, Chang, Ferrero, Spadea, Annacone, Raymond, Demienteva... A good option if you have elbow problems. Used to string it with Prince Syn and NRG 2. Now I string it with Poly tour 120 or Hyper G for added spin. For me it's the GOAT.

Interesting. Trying to get back into the sport. Should I stick to my trusty old prince graphite 90?? I think I still have 3 or so sitting around. And has the string tech really improved? I wish I still had my old Babalot stringing machine.

I know Agassi, Chang, Sabatini, Annacone and others used the POG but I truly don't ever remember Courier using the POG on the ATP tour. I always remember him wielding the Wilson Pro Staff 85. If you have footage of him using the POG in an ATP match I would love to see it.

@@TheTopspin77 me neither. I don’t ever recall noticing what he was using, but if he had been using a prince, I would definitely have made a note of it.

Prince Premier Control multifilament is a good match with POG 110. This is what I have on mine.

Awesome content Harry. I played with a four stripe POG 110 and a original P/S mid and still have the frames today. Very nostalgic thread reminding me of the junior days.

I hit with a friend's Pro Staff 85 when he got it when it first came out. A few months later, I stopped playing for a while. When I came back, I realized I couldn't play with my Prince Pro any more -- too much flex. I either forgot about the Pro Staff or the store I got demos from didn't have any. They sure didn't have any Prince 90s in. I still felt more comfortable at the time with the oversized anyway, so I went with the oversized graphite. It was a decent racquet but when the Pro Staff 6.1 came out, I liked that a lot better. If I'm not mistaken, I think I sold my Prince graphite for more than I paid for it!

I used both the Prince Oversize and the Wilson Largehead. The Prince was a more solid and durable racket even with a recommended tension range of 70-80#s. The Wilson was about as stiff as the Prince but it’s main positive characteristic for me was its feel. Maybe it was the 20% Kevlar but I’ve never come across another racket with the same feel. Even the midsize Prostaff and the later versions didn’t have the same feel as the Largehead. The Largeheads down fall was its durability. The warranty was good for a year. I got a warranty racket for cracks in the frame. I then got a warranty racket to replace the warranty racket when it developed cracks within the warranty period. This happened twice for two different separate Largeheads purchased new. That’s six cracked frames and I never abused the rackets. By comparison I never cracked a Prince Graphite just some tiny stress fractures on one.

I like both but I never had either except to hit with occasionally. I never realized Wilson had problems with cracking though. I found that interesting. I had played with the 85 for years though. ☮️

Thanks Harry for reintroducing older racquets! I am thrilled. Magnesium pro by any chance? Courier I thought was prostaff guy. Also, Sabatini, Seles and Capriati for 110!

When Agassi played against Courrier in Salt Lake City 2015 that was fun to see Andre had a set of the POG reissue called Prince Tour Graphite OS 107. That was a nice match!

I’ve always liked small heavy racquets but I’m 50 now so 97 or 98 is the smallest I want to go. However, I never wanted a 100 sq in head or larger I just couldn’t stand it

With Wilson, 110 was made first; 85 was kind of a byproduct (Similar to iphone being byproduct of ipad).

prince graphite 90/110 softer material, they are 100% graphite, pro staff midsize/largehead 80% graphite 20% kevlar, the kevlar makes them stiffer. the 90 sq inch headed Prince Graphite had a 14/18 string pattern. can you guess how more often the strings would break especially by sampras playing with it?

just the sticker alone who says made in st.vincent doesnt make it special. the three letter code can make it really special like pete sampras just playing with a specific three letter buttcap code. these rackets also have a little thicker beam on the racket heart. there were also made in belgium produced wilson pro staff midsize with also their special butt cap code where you can identify. by testing 4 rackets do the same string/ stringjob and tension in all of the 4 rackets, otherwise you cant compare. cheers.
