Gaea's Cradle takes the fact that green loves having lots of creatures and asks "what if they all generated mana?" Now, imagine that same design was applied to blue, and instead of creatures we care about artifacts. If that sounds like a powerful idea to you, you might be onto something. Something very much like Tolarian Academy. Find out in this episode if we think this could ever see the light of day outside of Vintage.

12:50 talking about it being restricted in Vintage you say "well it's legendary, you wouldn't want more than one of them anyway." But if you start your turn with Academy plus like ten artifacts, you can tap it for ten then play another copy and let the tapped one go to the graveyard. Then tap the new one for another ten!

The prevalence of 0 mana artifacts getting this thing online to tap for multiple mana for free puts it a league above Gaea's Cradle, in my opinion.

Go wide for creatures for go wide with artifacts are hugely different, you’re very right. Mishra’s Baubel, and all the ornithopters and the rest make this a lot of coloured mana even on turn one.

I would argue that more decks will have mass creature removal than mass artifact removal, however I agree with you that they are at a similar level! They should both be banned :P

Hey guys! Long time, first time. I think you could absolutely unban this if it had 2 or 3 tweaks: 1: the land was given the artifact subtype so that artifact hate would also hate this mana accel. 2: instead of coloured mana it tapped for colourless. 3: it specified non-token artifacts. all that said, ban Gaea's Cradle because it's an 800$ card and elf decks need to be taken down a peg
