This video is a guide that will walk us through one of the greater Christmas stories in American History (even with Die Hard but non-fiction). The story takes place in December of 1776 and Begins on Christmas day. Follow along learn about the time George Washington took a bunch of backcountry and near naked patriots across a freezing river in the dead of night during a blizzard to attack only to march nine more miles and attack the enemy as they woke at sunrise. It is a heartwarming tale and one that may have saved the American Revolution and the cause of liberty.

I reside in Trenton.N.J.. Try luggung hose cannons up and down deep revine , there were 2 for 9 miles.. The freezing sleet was horizontal.. Took some balls in those days. There are markers today located here and in Princeton noting the trail. There are re-enactments of both battles. They have not outlawed those...yet.

Not yet. For a short time I lived down the road in Plainsboro. I wish I knew then about the stuff I am into now. I would have taken the time to appreciate the site.

Great work! This feat by Washington reminds me of George Rogers Clark's capture of Vincennes/ Ft. Sackville in February 1779. (hint, hint)

I appreciate it. I just read an article on the Sackville capture (www.history.com/this-day-in-history/british-surrender-fort-sackville). Let me tell you, man. There is no short of incredible stories in history. In three paragraphs this event sounds epic and I had never heard of it before. I also never heard of Frenchman fighting WITH the British. Clever attack. Might be added to the list.

You omitted the name of an important American soldier. Once you hear it, it is unforgettable. It was artillery lieutenant James Monroe. He was wounded so badly he nearly died. You may have heard that he had a political career afterwards. Like John McCain (and unlike Bob Dole) he never neglected to mention his story of heroism. But unlike McCain, James Monroe won the Presidency.

What a wonderful retelling of this incredible story man, you’re like Mr Ballen but for history ! I’ve commented on other videos and will continue to do so to help the ol RU-vid algorithm, but I just want to give you some affirmation and praise that your hard work and natural talent to convey stories like, as you say, your telling them to a friend is not going unseen or under appreciated. I promise you your channel is going to blow up bigger than you ever thought possible and you deserve every bit of good fortune that’s coming your way. Liked and shared man, God Speed!

Enjoying your programs on the Spanish and the plains Indians! Was it true the Mexicans encouraged anglos to move into Texas to create a buffer between them and the Apache/ Comanche?

Well, since you asked, my request is for the battle of Yorktown. From a numbers perspective, it appeared to be a complete and utter disaster for the British military and I often wonder how it was so one-sided.

Of all the Generals you had to mention Horatio Gates if named Washington's successor would've immediately retreated until it was him who was surrounded by the british at Yorktown. Thank God GW prevailed at Trenton AND Princeton. But they badly needed Valley Forge and the Baron Friedrich Wilhelm Ludolf Gerhard Augustin von Steuben....the man who won the Revolutionary war for America!

I’m finishing up an episode on the Apache. I think it’s the best thing I’ve made so far. It will be uploaded Saturday morning. I have wanted to get back to the Comanche (I do have a video on them if you haven’t seen it) and think I’ll be able to in February. I have heard rumors of big bones of the Si-Te-Cah being found, and that they have also been cannibals but don’t know how true any of it is. If you have any info on either, send it my way.

As I remember, there was a third phase of this campaign beyond Trenton and Princeton that lasted a number of months, pretty much gorilla warfare in the region where the Yankees were also successful.

It just shows us that much of what we believe is fiction more than fact. Patriot are our greatest treasure but most ride on their coattails while telling everyone how what they want is most important.

This video is fuperb, fupplementary historical knowledge like this is important because the finer details often get glossed over in fchool. 12:10 Seriously though, I can't be the only one who constantly forgets that a long "s" used to exist. ...Early modern English makes me feel like I'm having a stroke.
