Hi there, Liron here!
Today we'll discuss watercolor flow, and why it DOESN'T MATTER.
This may go counter what a lot of people believe, and a lot of the ideas that are spread out there in regards to watercolor.
Perhaps this provides someone the motivation to create with complete freedom.

I’m learning to stop being “afraid” of my second and even third layers!

I love your watercolor philosophy. You try to break down the barriers in our minds. I get it. We don’t have to follow the conventional rules on watercolor to achieve a masterpiece or just a great painting. What we need is a solid understanding of watercolor and how it works. Then we can arrive at the destination through whatever methods we choose. Your approach and thought process has helped me tremendously in refining my own style. ❤

So happy to hear, thank you for watching 😊🙏🏼 And I actually have a longer, more chill painting video coming out in the next couple of weeks. Lately I’ve been cutting the processes a little shorter. I want to go back to some more relaxed ones with a slower pace, and showing everything (:

I love your no rules ideas. I never understand why artists say things have to be a certain way.

Thank you 😊 And the rules artists set can be so subtle, but they’re always there. Quite tricky to avoid for a beginner!

I often struggle when painting in larger scale like A3 to keep the flow/ wetness where I want even if pre-wetted, it frustrates me.. watching this video gives me a bit of comfort.. thank you.

Very happy to hear 🙏😊 Yes, when you work this way - your paper might as well be the size of an enitre wall 😂 It's about the cumulative effect of all the areas painted individually, leading to a beautiful result.

I love the nuance in your color. Flow is fun, but it’s not what makes a watercolor painting. You can paint in isolated dry strokes on dry paper, overlaying them like a mosaic. It still looks like watercolor. Once, however, I managed to make watercolor to look not watercolor-like. The irony in that was that I painted it wet on wet.
@LironYan
@LironYan 16 дней назад
That is quite ironic, how did that happen? 😅 Thank you so much for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼

@@LironYan I used 600 gsm paper soaked in water and painted a dark sunset scene where the (relative) lights were all made with opaque pigments applied gouache-like to saturate the paper.

Hii, i'd like to ask what palette are you using?
@LironYan
@LironYan 11 дней назад
I’m using a Mijello 18 wells airtight palette (the larger one), and a Schmincke tin palette. But the contents are completely custom (: The Mijello one has mostly Daniel Smith paints, and the smaller one is Mission Gold.

So, your most important lesson is "Follow your own path"? 😊 I think it is great advice, because the only thing that makes us really good are those 10000 hours of practice and fear of failure causes paralysis, and we end up doing nothing.
@LironYan
@LironYan 16 дней назад
With the caveat - I truly believe the time spent isn’t the most important factor. A lot of this can be achieved in much shorter periods of time (: Thought speed of growth is not something to aspire to. It’s a byproduct of other things. Thank you so much for watching 🙏🏼🙏🏼
@717379
@717379 16 дней назад
@@LironYan I agree with you that being intentional in your practice is more important than mindless volume. I was just using those "10000 hours" as a figure of speech and I think of them as being spent doing your own thing: your unique search and development. You said it a lot better 🤷
