So so beautiful! This episode reminds me of why I started watching - I was sick with Covid, having just lost my dad to the virus and was still nursing my mom back to health. I was bedridden and, needing something beautiful and healing to watch I typed in "beautiful English countryside" and Maperton (before any official channels I believe) came up. I will be forever grateful!

Such soothing music as I wandered with Luke and Nestor through those fields! As for the mint -- can you make some Mapperton Mint Jelly?! A wonderful treat to take home! Mint tea? All that GREEN! So pleasing to see green fields instead of the summer parched 'golden state' of Northern California this time of year. So parched after a record breaking winter full of snow and rain storms, that rain looks very welcoming! Beautiful, just beautiful!

My family were farmers with different kinds of animals. Kitchen scraps were saved for the pigs and called “slop.” It was put in a trough. When you went to call them to eat you would yell “Sou-ie, pig, pig, pig” and they would come running, squealing and snorting. Seeing the pigs brought back memories of my Granddad calling his pigs. They loved to eat and sleep in mud holes.

Beautiful. Your rewilding project is important. I'm glad mama pig and piglets are all well. If you have weeds, you can move it along in plant succession by fermenting the weeds and then watering the area with a diluted version of the swamp juice. One can mark the areas to be treated with coloured stakes. Grazing animals for a day or two can as also move it along in succession. It's important to remove the animals quickly.

Mapperton wild mint and blackberry tea! You have an abundance of both mint, blackberries and blackberry leaves, so it wouldn’t be hard to make, and could help fund your rewilding projects!!

I have been unable to care for my garden for the past nine weeks, having had two stays in hospital and four operations to my hand (my cat bit me!). I have been amazed at how quickly the garden has been taken over by nature. Lots of native plants have appeared, some I recognised in the video, and there has been an increase in insects. When I look out from the conservatory, with neighbouring trees in the background, I feel as if I'm in a piece of woodland. It looks quite magical, and all in just nine weeks. I shall be unable to garden for several more weeks, so my unintentional rewilding will become ever more natural looking. My dog loves going out and exploring all of the hidden parts.

I hope you feel better soon. I also watch mine turn into a wild garden over the years because of my health auto immune disease can take your ability away to work, but I do love what is still coming up in my flower pots and try to forget about the weeds. Prayers for healing your hand, and getting back to where we love to work.

@silva7493 I have looked at it positively, but so many climbing plants have joined a rose that an arch has collapsed, so that my already small garden is getting even smaller! I want to say how lucky you are to wake up everyday and be able to walk around this lovely home. I make blackberry jelly every year except this year. I let a woman stay with me until she got back on her feet and she had someone cut down my blackberry bushes. I was so angry because I was going to make a lot of money by selling them at a farmers market.

Pity about green sand - never heard of it - and having to dismantle the building. Hopefully you can recycle some elements. You should check out the Hoof GP, up in Scotland; I've learned so much about cows and I think they were just curious, wild or not. Possibly it would benefit Julie too. Sooo cute that the sow came right up, possibly for a scratch. Interesting about the injurious weeds and how you intend to cull them. The whole vlog was really good thanks to Nestor ❤😊Gorgeous estate!

Wild feral pigs are nocturnal and will travel in packs, rooting (digging up) their way through acres of land every night. There is no way to control them but if shoot them, they become huge, mean and have a very short incubation period to have dozens of piglets. Ranches in the southwest US organize night time shoots to try to kill as many as they can because a heard of pigs destroy everything in their path acres at a time.

I laughed about the burrs!! And the picking wild berries, I love doing that with my black raspberries. The barn owl is truly a good sign of a balanced habitat . Now, the big question, with UK being so good about bat conservation, will someone have to ascertain that bats are not using the old barn crevices as roost or habitat before beginning teardown??

What I find amazing is that your fields look like chaparral - like what we have here in California- I guess eventually trees will take hold and it will no longer look like that - but guard your nascent trees! Or they will all get eaten! Also please re-do the barn for holiday lets! Just another amazing way to be part of mapperton - also places to stay for wedding guests and the family etc. Can you do one of those “live” 4k walks people do through your lands? Like what people use to fall asleep to or meditate to? Also for your neighbors- would having a tall hedge of maybe cypress or something quite dense to act like a physical barrier - help a tiny bit? I know it’s also about the wind/birds etc - but maybe?

Thanks for including close ups of the plants in the field you showed undergoing re-wilding, as well as the long views. I'd love to see the process of cutting the offending "weeds".
