The Celebrity Equinox has docked in Curacao today. This is our first time EVER seeing Curacao and what life is like on the this amazing island. Our plan is to hop on cruise ship excursion in Curacao so we can check some authentic Blue Curacao and also see what this Dutch inspired island of Curacao has to offer. Today we are trying something different and chose to do a cruise ship excursion and see if it's worth it . Curacao is a beautiful country and we cant wait to show you everything we saw, while sailing on the Celebrity Equinox cruise ship.

It's one of my favorite islands - very clean and safe. Curacao has the oldest Jewish synagogue in the western hemisphere! The floor is sand, it is so cool.

Three reasons why we do not do onshore excursions anymore. 1. Spending precious time in a coach/bus to and fro. 2. Waiting for other people (stragglers). 3. Missing out on onboard lunch and getting poor substitutes.

Up until our last cruises (we've been on 5) we would only book the cruise ship excursions. Not only because we knew they would get us back to the ship on time but also because they had been vetted for safety and security. Most of the places we go while cruising, we've never been before and have no idea what the areas are like in terms of crime or scammers. Booking with the ship means I'm not gonna get scammed nor am I going to end up some place super sketch. That said, we've recently started looking at outside tours more and more as we become more comfortable with the islands and cruising in general. So far, the only thing we've booked outside of the ship though, have been resort day passes haha.

Yes, the swirling winds! Great point, Laura! It's crazy windy in those islands and it does seem to come from all directions! Absolutely beautiful shots of Curacao- I'm in awe! I see these ships excursions as samplers; you get an overview of the port that can be useful, but to really see something in depth, you're right that something like Viator or booking directly with a tour company seems the way to go.

We went to Curacao this past May. And stay a week. We go every year. Such a lovely place! Local food and drink are amazing! Next time you go, go to Netto Bar is Curaçao's oldest Bar (est. 1954) and home to its famous Green Rum.

I always book Ship excursions, because I cruise solo, and always thought it was safer that way. lately they have not been putting in a lot of love on some excursions! I did the Horizon 8 day cruise, and booked the top 10 best of Aruba, it was a great tour, until on the way back, and I saw the downtown area I wanted to stop and see , and we just drove on by!! I think I really have to figure out the ship time, lol. Thanks for your videos.

We always had a better a experience booking our own excursions. Booking though the cruise line is definitely easy and convenient. It just seems like you don’t get as personal of an experience. We had a great time in Curaçao. Mostly due to the private excursion we booked on our own. Those curaçao bottles looked cool and beach was beautiful. It was nice to see the chairs were included. Stephanie is the same with the local cats. If we find them they are always the highlight of the particular island for her. Great Vlog. Thanks for sharing your experience.

The Carnival to Bimini and Nassau was fabulous..the excursion was a special and so worth it for 40 dollars a person to a resort, that was gorgeous , a beach from heaven 2 pools with round bed like lounges and they fed us a light meal or u could stroll to the restaurant on the end of thee resort and eat under a Tikka veranda , breeze and food was delightful! So yeah they have a great deal of these going on and oh the guy driving the trolly was playing reggae all for 40 a piece

Hey guys. I’m late but watching. What an opening view 🙌🏼. Said to myself looks like Curaçao 🇨🇼 and it is. We did a ship tour there as well and to myself it was great. We do self. Oh. The liquor factory is great with all the different flavors. I’d be tasting them all and did 😂😂. Oh the beach and fruit punch and chairs. included. Yes. Food also would’ve been nice. Nice day. Ours was the Curaçao factory, caves, museum and shopping. Thanks for sharing and see you next video. 🤗

The only time I have ever been late from an excursion was a Marci Gras Jeep excursion in Nassau. Luckily it was a cruise line booked excursion and they had to wait for us.

We took a taxi to Mambo beach. Told driver to pick us up at a certain time and she was there! Even if she wasn’t, there were plenty of taxi’s waiting. Actually we’ve done it twice that way, worked great both times.

Only do Cruise ship tours. My friends was on a very reputable tour and another vehicle hit their small tour van and they missed the ship!

Laura, you look so much like my Aunt Terri. She passed away unexpectedly April 2021. She was my more of a bit sister/best friend to me, as we were so close in age. She was known as the Beauitful one in our family. I always looked up to her. This might be weird to you to hear that you look like her but to me it is somehow comforting. Comforting to know that somewhere in the world there is someone as Beauitful as her, with gorgeous long blonde hair living their best life! You go girl! I truly wish you nothing but the best in life! We're booked on the Edge in Feb 2024. Its a GBR cruise and we have to take ship excursions because of the timing that the ship is in port. It sucks, because the REEF excursions are so, so expensive.

The southern island do get the winds and "sometimes" hurricanes. We missed Curacao back in 2017 in July. Curacao is awesome to walk around all over. We just get off mostly in ports and walk around. We prefer that over any excursions honestly. Blue Curacao, according to my son, tastes like Fruity Pebbles.

I took this tour in Curacao and absolutely hated it. Didn’t even stop in Willemstad (we didn’t even get as close to it as you did), and Mambo beach is so overcrowded. We got a taxi to leave Mambo beach early and then went and explored Willemstad on our own. this was nearly 2 years ago (right after the pandemic ended); now I prefer to book my own excursions or explore on my own as much as possible.

I usually book with the cruise ship because the time is so limited but I’ll do something on my own if I have a lot of time in the port like an overnight in Bermuda.

We rarely do cruise ship excursions also. We will do if the place we want to go is far from the ship and the day will be long. We want that guarantee of being on a cruise ship sponsored excursion and not being left. Classic example is going to St. John while in St. Thomas. We'll take the ship's transport excursion rather than taking the public ferry. If you ever make it to Curacao again look up Irie tours. They have open air buses that will take you across the island to see many things. Some you get a chance to stay awhile and others it's more of a look see, but fine because that's about all you need.

Always find a tour away from the ship excursions. Our first cruise, we did pay the ship for the excursion, Nearly twice the amount of money when you book with the cruise ship.

I went on a swim with the stingrays and a swim with the dolphins tours through the cruise line. I wouldn't do it any other way. If you are frequent travelers, then, sure, go off cruise excursion. But if you are inexperienced, it's probably safer to do the cruise ship excursion.

We went on the same tour with the same lady (she sang to us). I agree - the ABC's are too windy for good hair. One time I went to Blue Bay Beach (I think that is the name) in Curacao and loved that beach even more than Mambo.

Usually I’ll do a little research on the closest beach an will all take a taxi. A lot less money then any cruise beach tour. Sometimes we have followed a ship tour bus to the same beach saving 100s. All of the times trying this the taxi never even left the beach. He waited for us the whole time.

Question ?? For Mombo beach, of you were to take a taxi from the Port. Do you know how long it takes and how much it is to get into that beach? We have had Curaco on our itinerary twice. I have no luck with door decor. Every time I decorate some yahoo takes it or writes on it...we mainly sail on Celebrity and as you know it is mainly an adult line where the majority of people are 40+ ......so why do they do such childish things. I wanted to purchase door magnets but I can't for that reason.

Definitely understand that. But remember, we have mics on, so you will automatically hear us louder than the surroundings. We actually don’t speak that loudly, it just comes off that way.
