Thanks Father for this homily. Like many other people unfortunately I know several people who have taken their own lives. And like many other people, I see at first hand the utter devastation left that results from suicide for that person's family, loved ones and friends. I cannot see even a scintilla of one single good outcome to any suicide known to me personally. The only outcomes have been horrible for all those who are bereaved. As for the poor soul who died through suicide: that soul has to meet with God and account for that action. There is an obligation upon each of us, steeped to have the faith, to communicate that Good News, to our family/friends/acquaintances. If each of us did this, this would benefit all. Its a simple division of labour. Try to talk to someone else who may not have the faith, about the faith. Try to be a witness to God by talking and by behaving as best you can to the standard set by God. Jesus - God incarnate - walked this Earth. He is real. He was real then and He is real now and forever more. We cannot know the depth of God but we have Jesus example to try to follow. The new testament clearly sets out Jesus life, the real lived life. Thanks Father.
