That's wonderful to hear! Malaysia indeed offers a fantastic experience for residents and expatriates alike. If you're interested, we have a video discussing the reasons why Malaysia is such a great choice here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xrh-2HbWhIg.html

That's awesome! We're excited to have you join us in Kuala Lumpur for the event in September. Make sure to join the waiting list to stay updated on ticket sales and event details: nomadcapitalist.com/live/
KL is much better n more safer and people r super nice n friendly n Malaysia is very diversity n people all getting along. I visit every year n love it
Mexico beats them in food, culture, music, geographic location, beaches, modernity, and access to any sort of activity in cities. But yeah, I could see Malaysia being generally safer, even though all it takes is common sense to stay safe in Mexico
Hotel values in KL are amazing. The Majestic looks amazing. We have been staying at the Ritz Carlton for around $150/night! Awesome property with an amazing breakfast (and lounge).😋

@@keangwooichoo6138 I said first NOT only country to recognize. Almost always if not always once one nation recognizes, other nations follow . It is exactly true my Malaysian friend . 🇲🇾 🤝 🇸🇴
LOL Malaya Federation was established in Feb 1948, by 9 Independence Malaya State. In 31/08/57 only Malacca who's occupied since 1511 gains it independence. So how does Somalia recognize Malay Federation 1948 as Independence Day? When the 9 Malay state is independence. In 1963 All of the nations that join Malaysia Federation are independence. Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore have different ID days. While for us from Malaya Federation we just celebrate Malacca id day
I’m glad you touched upon the visa issue for Mexico. It can be very difficult for nationalities that need a visa. I’ve been straight up told by a Mexican Consulate that my wife should just get a US visa and then doesn’t need a Mexican visa. Years ago when that happened and she is a US citizen now. Likewise it can be difficult to fly from Asia to Mexico without going through the US. Malaysia is a great choice. I still remember years ago sitting in The KLCC Park with my two sons(both now US Army soldiers) playing in the water with the Petronas Towers in the background. It’s a beautiful place and affordable.
Both of them are in the army now?? Wow!! You must be talking like 10 to 15 years ago. In the KLCC pool I mean. Please come back Sir, with the whole family if possible. The park and the pool are still there. Well maintained after all these years. Caution though, you might be overwhelmed with all the changes in the surrounding and the city as a whole. In a good way. Still affordable nevertheless.
@@zaharizak I'm thinking it was 2007. I remember thinking, this has to be the most beautiful urban location in the world while I was sitting there with water spraying and looking at the Petronas Towers.. We will indeed go back probably next year. Malaysia has always had a special place in our hearts.
Normally peoples talk about bangkok and singapore. They not realise KL really just in the middle of both. Its not only about location and geography, but everything. Medical, Educations, Investments, Economics etc. In short, you got Singapore standard with Bangkok price in KL.
Thanks for choosing and loving Malaysia 🇲🇾. Since Malaysia’s independence, we only did not recognized a state/country/nation, and that’s Israel 🇮🇱. Even in Malaysian passport, it’s stated clearly that Israel is the only place we cannot access/travel to. We totally have no diplomatic relations or ties with Israel. Even we have diplomacy with North Korea. Until the recent assassination/murder of the President’s own brother in Malaysia soil in recent years ago, that soured both nations’ relations which resulted in the shut down of North Korea Embassy in KL, which initiated by their side single-handedly. Hopefully we could reconcile the diplomatic relationship again in the near future, as Malaysia’s foreign diplomatic policy is always preferable towards having friends than enemies😊
Even though your Malaysian Passport says ....."except Israel", you can actually go to Israel bcos it has no beef against Malaysia. It's up to them to accept you in. There are dozens of Christian Pilgrimage Tours every year to Jerusalem from Malaysia. So who says you can't go to Israel?
You poor thing. Soon you'll find out why it's bad to encourage Americans or Canadians to move to your country. They ruin anything they touch and only care for themselves.
It always will be in terms of value. If it ever becomes too expensive, it will get overshadowed by Singapore which to most westerners is more ideal for setting up business, less the government stamp duties.
Was extremely surprised at how modern, clean and nice Kuala Lumpur is. Friendly people, good food and an awesome airport too. Most under-rated city I've been to.
@@nomadcapitalist The term you were reaching for is (fear and) ‘loathing’ (about Biden). Latin America rents are about double (up to triple, e.g. Philippines) more expensive than SE Asia. Also even the individual Mexican consulates in the USA are hit-and-miss for Americans applying for residency permits. Note the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores is entirely separate from the INM (domestic immigration).
That's fantastic to hear! We're thrilled that you'll be joining us at Nomad Capitalist Live in Malaysia. It's going to be an incredible event, and we look forward to meeting you there.
Thanks for making an event in Kuala Lumpur. You may contact Tourism Malaysia MICE department. They are ready to help and even offers help, souvenirs or free tours around KL.
It's more common to find Americans in Thailand and the Philippines than Malaysia. Thailand for night partying, and the Philippines for retired Americans to find girlfriends or wives. While Malaysia has always been underatted or unknown to Americans.
@@uncledan2uI like to hear that all major religions represented. Sounds so harmony. And dominated by Islam. Who majority controlled n managed this beautiful country.
The weather is hot and humid and lots of rain. If you can handle that bravo. (I am malaysian). Also please speak to american expat Andrew taylor to provide more info)
People run around South east asia with 90 days visa (some free , some a minimum amount). That is why they are called digital nomads. Not all are 'rich'.
A close friend of mine (with Asian passport) was recently denied boarding to Mexico despite having permanent European residency, plus UK and US Visas... When trying to file an official complaint about the airline not knowing their own boarding regulations, he received an endless list of paperwork to provide (only feasible if you're idle and not a busy executive). He eventually just flew into Mexico with a different airline, sucked the lost time and money up, and promised to never again fly with the inefficient Mexican airline (Volaris). So just imagine the nightmare of getting all your own paperwork in order, just to have a random airline employee deny your boarding to Mexico because he dislikes your passport. It's a lottery Nomad Capitalist wouldn't want to play.
Morning Mr Henderson I'm in K.L. literally right now, not just on your recommendations, but because I was interested in coming to Malaysia many moons ago yet never got round to it (shame on me). Depending on how this trip goes, and general circumstances, I'd love to attend the conference here in September. Regards, R.
Mexico has a lot of similar problems as American when it comes to politics combined with very high crime Malaysia is not perfect but its very different .
US Politics is insane. but the current admin is making me rich through my 401(k) equiavlent in NZ. Long may it continue. But as a Malay/Kiwi, yeah i love Malaysia...visit at least twice a year.
I’m glad because I’m already spending a decent amount of time in Mexico this year and I was already planning to go to Malaysia for an Asia trip later this year around the same time! I’m curious the youngest guest you’ve had. Only 25 here.
That sounds like an exciting adventure you have planned! We welcome guests of all ages at our events, so you'll fit right in. Looking forward to seeing you there!
KL is a great choice. I have stopped going to PV, Mexico for now. Going through immigrations and customs is a disaster with lines ~1 hour or more. During low season I walk right through. Maybe th new airport will be more efficient.
I live in Playa Del Carmen and was a little disappointed when I found out your event wasn't in Mexico but Malaysia will be a great experience for my family. When is the event? How much are the tickets? I'm signed up but haven't received any info about ticket prices yet. Thx
Malaysia is fantastic. If you’re truly considering becoming a nomad capitalist then why wouldn’t you want to visit one of the best places to be a nomad capitalst? I mean I’ve been all over Mexico and nothing against Mexico but it’s already kind of been there done that. And there’s no point in going to Boca Raton because you’re not going to be living there either.
I live in west palm beach and can understand why you wouldn’t have the event here. I need nomad on a budget information. Either way you have great information and congratulate you on your success. You have opened my eyes on other possibilities and give positive light on other countries.
Oh no please keep Malaysia underated ( Malaysian here 😂 living abroad, bought my properties in KL and Langkawi by accident) and now looking back- was worth the pain.
The thing about Cancun is the tourists and locals are living in separate worlds. If you travel there you are probably in one of those resorts on that island while the rest of the city is on the mainland.
A Malaysian here. You will love Kuala Lumpur, be it the food, the friendly melting pot of people from different ethnic backgrounds and the sights of a very modern city. Stay a bit longer and explore Malacca and Penang while you are here and you won't regret it.
How about Colombia? A major issue with Malaysia is flight times over 20 hours from North America. D.C. to Bogatah is about 5.5 hours, you have a home there, and it may be less expensive than Mexico.
There are no central event spaces large enough, there is too much of a language barrier, and it is close or connected to only a very small percentage of the world's population.
Mexico talks a big game but when it's all said and done they do whatever the US wants. USA puts a lot of pressure on Mexico to act as their unoficiall border control
I agree! This is my first second residency here in Mexico and definitely still working towards my citizenship, however, now that I have that planned and waiting, I think I’m ready to move on to a third residency and possible citizenship. I want to be far away from the United States and explore a European culture.
Hola friend 👋🏼👋🏼 We are 2 Canadians 🇨🇦 living in Mexico.🇲🇽 We love it but we are also exploring our options for retirement. Wishing you all the best. 🙏🏼❤️
The problem with Malaysia is the past 5 years they foolishly decided to screw around with MM2H (but eventually when applications plummeted they backtracked) and they also eliminated territorial taxation and then realized it was causing capital flight and backtracked for 5 years. This whiplash is not good for long term planning, wealthy people plan on 10Y timeframes.
@@stmpo5595 If it can’t survive a change in government without being shut down or totally modified for renewals without even grandfathering in, it is problematic. They still haven’t said what is going on with FSI past Dec 31 2026 which is a little over a year away. People with money need to plan in 10 year intervals, if they want anyone to do the silver and platinum MM2H packages they need to provide at least 10 years and preferably 15 years of certainty.

If Nomad Capitalist Live ever goes to Singapore, Vanuatu or somewhere in the EU one year, I'd love to attend. Too many border issues with KL for those who work in certain fields for certain large businesses - if one's work and their leisure travel are different, countries shouldn't pair the two when looking at tourism or conference entry at the border, especially when the person isn't a Politically Exposed Person.

What do you think about Turkey? I was born and raised in Germany, but lived in the States, Malaysia, then Australia and the UK in the last 20 years. Currently I am in Turkey, but I am not sure about it to be honest. I am thinking of moving back to Malaysia or Spain. What do u think of Spain?
I've lived and worked in both (Malaysia and Mexico) for long periods of time. Both have plenty to offer. Both have lovely and kind people. Both have downsides. I currently live in Mexico and I love it. But I could just as easily live in Malaysia. They are really NOT competitors.
I have experienced both of the countries, as well, and the downsides of Mexico is just too extreme to bear. Cartel is a big problem no matter what they say. You heard this and that made a pact not to interfere in a certain state, and then the next thing you know, the very same ones making pact is executing the rival in a broad daylight, while said rival is chilling in a Starbucks. Not an isolated issue, as well. My beloveds there lives in a supposedly protected neighbourhood and still there's so many "offing" happening, doesn't matter what time of the year, that can be traced back to current/former drug activity of the deceased. It's common to hear gunshots, too. We don't normalize that in Malaysia, even in the most ghett*-est of places. Plus, in Mexico, even if you pay top dollars for private health facilities, they still send you on a treasure hunt, as if you don't already suffer from the indignity of being sick and disabled (even if temporarily). You went to an appointment in one place, get tested in another, get the result in a third place, then a different place for a different test, then a whole other place for the diagnosis. You also have to get your own prescribed meds from another premise. Best of all, this humbling experience comes with paying for private treatment (rather than using the cheaper ones under the government's facilities). In Malaysia, even the public facility is an all-in-one experience already, and for the money you paid for private treatment? You're getting 5 star hotel level of accommodation, no doubt.

If you want to spend 6 months in mexico or south america and 6 months in SE Asia, how do navigate finding the cheapest flights so u don't spend a lot of money in round trip airfares and baggage fees? Travel in low season?😮
Struggled to get our Mexican residency as well.. like you we encountered a woman who was ornery!! She was pretty nasty, but we finally received it… however the attitude and generally unkind behavior is unnecessary… and common according to what I’ve heard and experienced…thanks for the video❤
The lady at the INM was a little rude when I got my permanent visa in Mexico. After all was said and done, it was not that bad. I have heard horror stories of Americans trying to bring their Mexican spouses to the US and the officials at the US consulates are rude to the Americans that our sponsoring their spouses. That makes sense to me because some times when I cross the border I get a CBP officer that is rude to me and I have Global Entry. It is usually a Hispanic CBP officer that is rude. Why is that?
@@leemartinez2975 perhaps the chilly or downright mean reception at these types of offices is due to one being in the position to relocate to a different country legally while others may struggle to do so. The privilege of that may not sit well with others. Either way I don’t enjoy being mean so I accepted her behavior with a smile.. regardless, I got what I wanted in the end 😉.
They say that because there are so few countries that need a visa to enter Malaysia, the Malaysian ambassador’s staff has more free time to entertain anyone coming from a visa-required country. From what I heard, you can get the visa on the same day because all the processes have been streamlined. After all, it’s not even ten countries that need a visa to visit Malaysia LOL, so there are less work for the ambassador staff already…we are very open country tho 😂😂😂 The same goes for passport renewal…based on my experience, I can renew my Malaysian passport within an hour after my office hour 😂😂😂... I can flex this with my international friends LOL.

Should I be spending more time up-leveling my income before even considering this?
Overall the philippines has higher accommodation cost despite having many American retirees there(coz they hide in the remote islands). One youtuber who recently visited kl said cheese, milk is hard to get in the place he live. Therefore, no comfort food for them.
