About 20 years ago, my husband lost his job. We had 2 small kids and a mortgage. We were devastated! Someone said to me “when God closes a door, he opens a window.” I was like “yeah, whatever!” A month later, my husband got a great job, working with people who valued him and didn’t treat him like crap like his previous employer did. Financially, we were not prepared for his job loss. I vowed never to be in that situation again. Good luck to you and your husband on everything! 🙂

I’m so sorry this has happened. I’ve been through the very same thing. My husband lost his job when I was 5 months pregnant with our second child. I cried my eyes out. We trusted in the Lord and everything worked out for our good. We didn’t know what our future healed, but we knew who healed our future. 🙏🏻

I am sorry Matt lost his job. My husband and I are now retired but during our 46 years together he lost 4 jobs and I lost one job. At the time it was devastating but new opportunities came and we were fine. It is wonderful to have family. It makes it easier. Praying that Matt finds the perfect job, labor and delivery goes smoothly and your move goes smoothly.

I can empathize. My husband lost his job the day before our daughter was born. The blessing was that he was home with us for eight months before he returned to work. It sure beat the one week that he had planned to take off. All the best to you!

I’m so sorry about the job loss. Iowa is beautiful. You just have to look a little harder to find the beauty especially in the winter. We live in Nebraska so I feel your pain. My teenagers very snarkily asked me one time “why did you settle in Nebraska? It’s sooo ugly!” I told them for the people! Not the geography! The people are lovely and it is a wonderful area in which to raise a family! All 6 of our kids have settled close by. 11 grandkids later, I’m still enjoying the people! Winter doesn’t last all that long and it provides great opportunity to clean and organize indoors. Just sayin’. I wish you all the best and hope to run into you sometime!

What gut wrenching news to receive! From Missouri here where you can get 4 seasons in one ding dang day. 🤣. Iowa and family are both wonderful things. This event is your rather forceful nudge to push your move into action. I can’t imagine your stress and how calm and smiley you are! You are such a neat person…in more ways than one. Wishing you the best on this new adventure!

Hiya. I think you guys should look into some of the apps that bars use to take inventory. The reason I suggest this is bc it could give hubby some direction on how to set up the cataloguing of household items. As most organizing involves some inventory taking, it could be a beneficial first step. Something like tying the inventory in to a sizing or measuring app would be great for determining storage area needs, shelving heights etc. Good luck with this project. It sounds amazing.

So sorry about Matt losing his job, especially with a baby on the way. You both are young & I am sure Matt will find something. There are a lot of remote jobs out there. I have lost 5 jobs 2 recently, they never give you enough time to plan. I am semi-retired because the jobs around here don't want to pay anything & they want you to work 6 days a week (no thanks). Just hang in there Gabbi, things always seem to have a way of working out (it is God's plan that he has for you & your family). Take care & will keep you in my prayers.

I'd love the app you proposed. I'm just beginning a home declutter, and I found your channel because of your old vids about the book, Sidetracked Home Executives. I have my box of index cards, but an app that would get the tedium of this down to a short manageable list of daily chores would be a goddess sent gift. BTW best of luck with the move.

Catching up! It’s going to work out! You guys are centered, and having family nearby will help a lot! For the app: you have already got a lot of material to work with! I think scheduling ideas and methods is always helpful. AND attitude change-so important. I read a book, way back, ‘Zen and the Art of Housekeeping,’ that turned my attitude around about it. Still have issues, but ‘hating’ housework is not one of them! ♥️✌️

So sorry to hear about the job loss. IT is farmed out to India and Brazil and thats been going on steadily throughout every administration. Not a great time to be in IT as a newbie in America. IO is a great place to raise a family and being close to family is one of the most important things you can do for your kids especially if they are supportive. Remote jobs as a newbie are difficult; hanging his own shingle also as a newbie competing for contracts could be dicey. Indians and Brazilians are doing work (albeit not great work all the time) at much lower prices. As far as the app. There are several already out there with a good repute so I think you need to look for a niche not yet in place. You are competing with a lot of Indian start ups who are all about the Cloud and apps. So not trying to burst bubbles but Im old enough to be your mum and so this is just loving advice. Do your homework about IT thoroughly- because time is money. Wish you well, the best and honestly if you want to work and provide for your family there is always work. I know this as a fact. It may not be what you want or have gone to school for or easy but there is work.

I feel so bad for Matt. The enormous amount of stress of being the sole provider and losing it all, taking care of everyone and not being able to. I HOPE he's getting the mental help he deserves and not just being treated like crap or being shunned or being expected to find a job quickly because of the kids and her. It's disgustingly. That poor man.

I have a huge desire to move home to Wisconsin now. I've lived in Canada for 20 years and the last 3 years have been a nightmare for travel back and forth. I just want to see my family when I want to see them and not be a 12 hour drive or all day flying away + border nonsense. My daughter is 12 and she could be so much closer to my parents but because we were farther away she didn't get all the fun of doing the mundane things in life with them. It's always an event when we see them.

First....everything happens for a reason...not a cliche....I moved with my employer several times across several states with my two children. I am now retired and back living in the state I started out from...home in Kansas. Anyhow, I am not a sub but I do watch a number of decluttering channels. I think in would be good to have different classifications of decluttering/downsizing. Most you see are families and it is of course constant getting rid of things...they buy more than they get rid of! Boring/don't follow their own suggestions. What about singles vs married life, retirees, elderly and maybe the passing of a family member? These are all also examples of downsizing/decluttering and something we will all be faced with. For example my Mom has passed away. Several years later I am still going through things.....most of the time no one wants any of the stuff. I am selling/donating/tossing. Now I am trying to do all of this for me so that my children are not faced with this situation. Just a thought.from SE Kansas 🌻
