I had an AIO in my old system. It still works 5 years later tbf. My mate had one, it broke after 2 years. I'd rather take an air cooler. Possibly more.

@qrogueuk 4 года назад
@@zarmaanful I looked at a few options for parts and picked a mix. I was happy with and would fit my needs and budget. Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master, NH-D15 (dual fan), Vengeance RGB pro (2x32=64GB -3600Mhz), MSI-RX 5700 XT 8GB Gaming X, 2x-MP510 1.9TB NVMe (Boot & games), 1x8TB internal HDD (for storage) - 4x8TB external HDD (for backup), Define R6, Gunmetal (no window). As for how, the NH-D15 effect some parts: I had move the fan above the ram slots, up a few fins on the NH-D15, as the RGB strip was touching it (low profile, non RGB would have required no movement). The fan still doesn't touch, the case side panel when closed. Not much space between, the MSI-GPU back plate (2.75x slot card = 297 x 58 x 140 mm) and the bottom of the NH-D15. I can't get my finger's between them to press the retaining latch/clip and the first PCI-E slot. But can use, a plastic trim tool or flat head screw driver to open and close it. if I need to remove/re-seat the GPU or access the 2 the NVMe slots/drives (currently in use) or remove the NH-D15. Air flow not a problem on the R6 (currently) 3x140 + 1x120 intake and only 3x140 exhaust (not 4, due to an 5.25 optical drive). I've not done a manual O/C the system and let the CPU/MOBO (PBO) take care of that. Boost up-to 4.7 on 2 cores, between 4.3-4.5 on the rest when gaming/streaming(OBS), benching (prime95, Cinebench, etc). I've not seen the system hit over 80C under load, so far and we had a few warm (30c - 85F) days, with no air-con. Hope that helps

@CCISolitude

@@maYdaY1337 I think you're possibly a little out of touch with air coolers? They've evolved quite a bit in the last decade; not just the fans, but the nature and quality of the entire ensemble. Material technologies, heat piping, liquid within the heat pipes, arrangement and density of fins. I'll grant you, individually they may not be overwhelming - but combined as a complete package? It's quite substantial.

@@SirQuacks no, there have been plenty of failures over time of all sorts of AIOs. If a pump fails, you lose 99% of your cooling, if it leaks, you potentially brick your entire system, and over time, they do weep liquid. Fan fails on an air cooler? you throttle a bit, and your PC gets quiet and it is pretty noticeable when it fails. Super easy to replace a fan, not super easy to get any money for replacement parts from AIO manufacturers if it is out of warranty and kills your system. So again, no it isn't "just this enermax model that has this issue", others have had similar and equally catastrophic issues.

A little thing I learned with my own system. Having the backside of the GPU that close to the CPU Cooler can cause issues. I have an EVGA 1080Ti Kingpin Card that I had RMA'd in less than a month, then was having degraded performance after a few months on the new replacement card. My temps in HW monitor were "OK" 70s-80s C depending on what I was running. Granted my 7700K is running @ 5.1GHz 1.42V, I did not think too much of this though being delidded. I was using the Noctua NH-D15 and had the same clearance as you showed in an ITX board/case that I cut to add a couple fans and removed the plexiglass from the side panel after drilling holes in it for more airflow. It was my first time overclocking anything, and I overclocked everything learning through trial and error; so user error is definitely a factor. It was not until I looked into the EVGA software that I noticed even though the GPU die temp was 80C, the backside of the GPU was 99C. Got a GPU stand and PCIe extension turned my case on its side and mounted the GPU like a shark fin. Immediately my CPU temps dropped to 60s C on a sustained load, with 75C being the occasional max. GPU was still in the 70s and after the confidence of re-applying the thermal paste on the GPU (which was much less daunting than I initially felt), my GPU never goes over 60C. Unfortunately, Z270 did not allow for a CPU upgrade. Fortunately, my CPU still runs @5.1GHz 24/7, and a lot more experience for when I get a chance to build a new system.

So done with liquid cooling - tried it twice. First was a "GREAT AIO" that...stunk and died. Next, a swiftech open loop where the pump failed in warranty and Swiftech didn't honor it. With liquid cooling, I always felt that I'm just waiting for it to fail. Noctua NH-D15 for me. Big, not pretty. Quiet. Reliable as can be - keep it reasonably clean, fans spinning. Do a thermal baseline on install and if the temps start rising, repaste (maybe once every couple years if not longer). Yes, my system is VERY old (11 years) - a 3930K with a RTX2070 - but it still does EVERYTHING perfectly fine, doesn't crash, and stays VERY cool (3930K is a factory CPU where the cpu die was essentially soldered to the inside of the IHS). Runs almost as cool as it ever did on water and haven't touched the heat sink in over 4 years - thermals are still "perfect". Doubt I'll ever give liquid cooling another chance. Sure, the theoretical thermal capacity is great, but added parts, maintenance, and in my experience questionable quality. Excessive complication for my needs, really. I'm also at a stage in my life (some would just call that stage "OLD") where I don't want to fiddle with and coddle my system - I just want it to work with minimum fuss - air cooling works perfectly for me. I built the system, I used top line parts (at the time) and, 11 years old and still going strong. Doesn't crash and the only thing it really fails at is being a space heater.
