Thank you for sharing your experience bc that's exactly how I feel. A previous priest at our church said that by (me) people kneeling to receive the Eucharist was to bring attention to oneself. Thank God he's no longer our priest and just like you I had the call and I've praying to God to give me the courage to vail & feel comfortable & not single out. I was afraid of this at first as well. I prayed about those things a lot that you said you feared and God gave me strength and Peace about it, He encouraged me to be careful to walk in His Love and grace all the more. I have been asked about my veil at church and a few women there have been inspired by it. I am blessed of the Lord my Saviors. He is so good to His.

I will pass on a bit of what I know from scripture, and hopefully it will helps anyone?🤷‍♀️ 1 Cor 11 makes it pretty clear that a woman should cover or veil her head in public worship. The word for covering in 1 Corthians 11:4, 5,6,7, 13, is the word, katakalýptō, from katá, "down, and kalýptō, "to cover"-cover down, to make appropriate (complete), i.e. to wear a veil. It is the same word used for the veil that separated the Holy of holies from the priests. But only in vrs 15, where Paul is giving an example from nature is a different word used, "but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering." This is different word from the others for "cover"= "peribolaion," that which is thrown around or a mantel that can be thrown around (As in when a women tosses or throws her hair around). Cover in the first few verses of 1 Cor 11, should really be translated veil. This is where we get the English saying, "Let your hair down." Becuase during the "sexual revolution" women let there hair down out of thier buns, uncovered their hair and shook it back and forth. Up until only the last two generations woman covered in Church. All of our grandmothers would have covered in church. This is why the Hutterites, Mennonites, Amish, the orthodox churches, some Catholics, a lot of African tribes, and Messiniac Beleivers, etc still cover their hair. Here's some verses in the OT about head covering. Hope these help. Isaiah 47:1-2. Come down and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground without a throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans! For you shall no more be called tender and delicate. Take the millstones and grind flour, "put off your veil", strip off your robe, uncover your legs, pass through the rivers. (So as we can see, even virgins were to keep their heads covered and save their hair for their husbands. Otherwise it is like they are showing all their nakedness). Numbers 5:18. Then the priest shall stand the woman before the LORD, "uncover the woman’s head," and put the offering for remembering in her hands, which is the grain offering of jealousy. And the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that brings a curse. Also Genesis 20:16 says in the Hebrew Then to Sarah he said, “Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver; indeed this is "a covering for her eyes" (to put back on her wedding covering) you before all who are with you and before everybody.” Thus she was rebuked. From what I understand In Genesis 24:65. Rebekah covers herself because the bridal price has already been paid. 2 vrs later we see Isaac take Rebekah bright away into his tent. God does not concern himself with the appearance of others and our Lord and savior commands us not to judge by the outward appearance, for what is most important in God's eyes is the condition of the heart. Traditions were made up by men and Paul, who wrote Corinthians, was converted to Christ without actually walking with Christ, and this is the same man conformed to the traditions of his time, who pursued to kill the community of people that he joined after converting to Jesus Christ. We need to focus on following the Lord's commands and not let traditions take us off of the path of righteousness in our walk with the Lord, for it is more important to obey the ccommandments given to us by almighty God, more than it is following the traditions of men, again, the Lord tells us in many ways that he judges not by the outward appearance in the ways that men do, and what's most important is the condition of our heart. Certainly there is nothing wrong with wearing coverings of the head or face however, no one sins in God's eyes if they attend a building structure full of individuals gathering in the name of the Lord to give him praise and Glory if the individual chooses to sit there without a covering for the face or head. The Lord promises by his own words that he will not judge us by the outward appearance whether we appear in a church with, or without, a covering, he doesn't care about that kind of nonsense as men do, his only concern is how true our hearts are towards him. (Scriptures about the heart and judging by outward appearance) Jeremiah 17:10, 1 Samuel 16:7, John 7:24.

@@mpkropf5062 the most important thing for us to do is to learn the Commandments of Our Lord and keep them, not the commencements of men. Traditions are fine whether it be for religious purposes or for Thanksgiving Day as celebration as we sit around the table to eat but there is no commandment directly from our Lord telling women that they need to wear veils or coverings. Jesus and his words are the standard of which we all need to live by today. The words of Our Lord, his very spoken words is what we need to live by. You have to remember that much scripture of old are simply written by men who believe they hear the words within them and determine they are from the Lord while in the times of their suffering living without the luxury of modern medicine such as we have today no way for us to really know what kind of State of Mind they've been in physically during their times whether or not they had problems with an underactive thyroid for example that would drain their energy and affect their mind heart and health, so there are many considerations to consider when it comes to the ways of the times of old and the conditions that were then and as the word of God tells us all scripture is God breathed and open for interpretation as it says in the holy word of God. We have to remember not to make traditions of the church priority but make the Commandments of God, Jesus Christ the number one priority in our lives obeying the commands he has given us and yes there are many interpretations of the Apostles in their own text in much of the things written down according to memory as they lived their life by candlelight living with the health conditions that they were in without the luxury of being able to pop a pill when if they feel lousy such as were able to do today and simply because they had traditions of Their Own doesn't mean that is a tradition that we need to follow today unless Jesus Christ himself spoke the words of such for us to follow and you have to weigh what's most important as to whether or not it's right in God's sight to follow the traditions of men and their religious ways of honoring God, or is it most important to follow the ways of God concerning his Commandments and spoken words through his holy son Jesus Christ and that's what it was all about and the whole reason for Jesus coming to the world to show God to be with us and while it is not impossible for men of old to hear God's voice and write it down so that we can call it scripture, and while it is possible for the Holy Spirit to dwell within us to lead us and guide us in all of our ways as we listen to the inner voice, you always have to keep an open mind and remember that all the scripture text that we have was given to us and found in broken pieces as we have been burdened with the task through the work of Scholars to put the pieces of the broken text together and insert words for proper interpretation such as the italic words that you see in the pages of the written word, italic words inserted to help us understand what was written for much of the written word is difficult to understand hence the reason for Scholars to add words of interpretation in the form of italic to help us better understand such as the story with David and the mentioning of the tree that he saw in his dream, there is no actual mention of the tree in one particular portion of part of the three verses concerning the story of David's dream, but had to be interpreted and inserted in italic form for our better understanding according to the scholars so that it would be understood as in reference to a later spoken portion of a tree in the particular verse and when you read of David's dream interpretation, you will notice in your readings that a tree is mentioned later in the verses but not in the beginning but the word tree had to be inserted with italic lettering so that it would make better sense for us to have proper interpretation which is the way the scholars have made it to be, so we cannot just simply pull things out of context when there is so much more to understand. But the most important thing that we need to do daily is remember the Commandments given to us by Jesus Christ Our Lord and follow them and focus our attention on those Commandments and keep them.

@@jameswilliamson4028 All scripture, including the New Testament is the inerrant, inspired Word of God. Meaning, HE told the writers to put pen to paper. He even does this today with scribes and Prophets. We are in the New Covenant and not under the Law, we do not need to vail, but can (and IMHO should) out of reverence and obedience unto the Father. Pray and ask the Father yourself. Paul in the Bible is actually speaking to the Believer in Jesus Christ, while Jesus was speaking to the Jews. Rightly Divide the Word of Truth to show yourself approved.

I like the idea of having each other's, because veiling is our power as women. We need to stand as a wall against secularism's attempt to subvert religion. It takes a strong-minded woman to keep focusing on what's important.

If you, Muslims, become Christians, don't change the way you dress. It is beautiful. Read I Corinthians 11 -- it is beautiful. It makes one feel like a gracious gift.

I'm sorry you've had that experience! It is not very Christian-like behavior for anyone to be mocking or looking down at others, especially when you are practicing your faith! This behavior is unfortunately seen in many churches.

@Bok Choy Go to a Catholic Church that offers the traditional latin mass. Thankfully, that mentality is (literally) dying in large part.

I would think being called a "Madonna," after the Mother of God is a badge of honor. I don't care what other people think or say. It's my life and I like to veil for the Lord, not for other people.

@Bok Choy I actually had that spirit in a Calvinist church. It was brought up at a women’s Bible meeting. I was veiled and a few of the women said it was not necessary unless you want to follow laws. I said nothing but felt so out of place. I now go to a Norvus Ordo Catholic church and there are only a few of us that veil but I have not felt any weird looks. It seems more accepted in Latin Catholic Church because when I was able to go a Latin mass all but one women was veiled. Either way I feel more accepted in the Catholic Church. But that is not the reason I veil, I veil for the Lord. I attend the Catholic Church for the the real presence of the Lord in the Eucharist. Which was only a symbol in the Calvinist church. Please do not be afraid to join the Catholic Church it has a deep beautiful history. Watch conversion stories on EWTN Scott Hahn and Keith Nester are my favorite.

Some people confuse being forced to veil (as was the case in ancient tradition) with choosing to veil. That's probably why these older women looked at you funny, because they may have been happy to not have to veil anymore. There's the same kind of judgement in France about the Muslim veil.

Trust me God is always waiting for you to come back. He loves you. I had an encounter with Jesus one day in the sacrament. Call me to change and I did. I went through a long conversion. Thru that I remember my mom as a little girl she veiled she passed away 25 years ago. I remember her examples. And now I am mom passing on a veil to my 18 year old daughter. Teaching her the faith.

I wear a veil as well, but I don't wear it in the same way that Muslim women wear it. ( Covering their neck). Are you ever worried that people will mistake you for Muslim since you said you wear a hijab? Either way it's good that you are veiling. Most Christian women do not veil.

@@masonslie1146 most people think I’m Muslim yes, but that’s ok with me. I don’t always cover my neck, sometimes I just drape the scarf over my head like Mary ( but it easily falls off that way). The one I’m wearing in this picture around my neck just stays in place better and I will say when you’re completely wrapped it makes me feel more calm and peaceful, more under the weight of my Christian walk, if that makes sense. ♥️

I heard a reformed pastor say to treat scripture as a principle to be practiced rather than a cultural custom. That burden of proof fell to the one claiming cultural custom - as so many do regarding veiling/covering. I reformed in my belief and theology, but I do know that my faith and beliefs are just as much influenced by the catholic church! I enjoyed their video and their take on this topic.

I’m looking to start veiling, just feels right. I’m not so keen on the white and black and would prefer to wear like a cream or grey like you mentioned. Is there any reasons to the colours? I have only seen one lady at my church with a head covering, she gives the communion and it’s more of a solid blue colour. I’m a bit worried to do it as no one else does 🙏

@@quasimodo614 to my knowledge there is no difference on color. I chose muted gray on Temu. I gave one lavender one who is a Lector who wears white veil. Since she is much y ounger than I , it will look great on her. She said she has many different shades and enjoyed receiving the Lavender colored one for Advent and Lent.
