From your comments, I'd recommend you look at both sides of the Critical Text vs. Byzantine Text debate. A lot of water has flown under the bridge since the CT won the debate in the late 1800's.
I would take it even a step further... we wouldn't know why we believe it... or where it came from... or if we should even believe it. I grew up spoon fed KJV-onlyism and all that comes along with that. When I heard there was an actual other side to the argument that wasn't demonized, it opened me up to so much growth.
