the regression started immediately after last years winter world cup. dont get it twisted. this isnt just a this season problem. we all wanted xavi to succeed. but ultimately we can not be ignorant the performances on the pitch.

I never wanted Xavi to depart the club. All I wanted was for him to reorganize and rethink some of the lineup decisions that have really hurt us match upon match. He let the lack of one player profile negatively affect his game plan this season when that shouldn’t be considering how other coaches have done it. But I suppose that comes with the inexperience. I will surely miss you maestro.

One thing i will always remember about Xavi is the time we went into an El Cassico underdogs and that was a performance from the team we won 4-0 we saw players like Gavi, Pedri carry Barcelona with Aubameyang the media was full of praises for Xavi and his work and we fast forward time they forget everything that Xavi did witj a limited financial budget for me his one of Barcelona's best manages ever since MSN ended

Hope Xavi is remembered for his time as a player and for picking us back up as a coach and winning us the league last year. Maybe one day he can return once he has gained more experience

In no way is Xavi is bad coach, I hope he doesn’t quit coaching completely, he’s lost the dressing room which happens to the even the best of coaches everywhere (Mourinho,Luis Enrique, Pottchetino, etc.) Xavi is still relatively young in his coaching career and still has lots to learn and experience to garnish under his belt. He’s won titles in his first stint at barca so that shouldn’t go unnoticed. Hopefully he bounces back.

I knew the moment Deco was appointed sporting director that there was going to be problems for Xavi. I think our problem as a club is not really a coach. Even if the best coach in the world came right now, we would not be better of. Our problem is with the administration, the board and the fact that we are broke.

I've been saying the Deco situation since some time now.... Ever since his appointment, Xavi hasn't been same. Xavi really wanted control over the whole sporting side of things. Jordi Cryuffs departure would have definitely effected Xavi. To top it, Alemany leaving even though he was the best the club could ask for and then appointing Deco. For me it is clear that Xavi lost control since Deco n slowly it crept to the dressing room. I even wonder what would have happened to us if Busqi decided to stay with us for this season. The cohesion we miss is mainly due to a lack of a good CDM and a leader who knows exactly what Xavi wants out of the team.

The players basically were totally the catalyst of his exit. Rafa Marquez you will have a lot of things to do or it will be your head. The players just do not want Xavi's ways. Clear and simple. Frenkie and Araujo both real proponents of Xavi's style even defended him. Most of the players just do not want his system or they do not understand or they just do not know how to play his style.

We are underestimating Ter Stegen. Barcelona is more or less the same as last year or even better. However Ter stegen saved countless goals to give last season Barca the title and the confidence to attack. Their biggest mistake was not to appoint a good quality backup goalkeeper

I can agree that xavi’s tactics were too predictable and therefore bad, but let’s not forget that this season there’s been plenty of individual mistakes on the pitch. Not only that but our attackers have also been horrible at finishing off chances created. Overall the team’s form just dipped this season and i don’t think we can blame that on Xavi. Any coach that comes to barcelona will have a hard time not only bc of the high expectations and the media always waiting for you to mess up but because there is no money to get players that fit their vision. We also lack squad depth which makes the coach have to play youngsters, and in turn that will create issues for those youngsters in the future. I really hope the club gets their finances straight as soon as possible.

His ability to read your opponent strategy is a key and Xavi with all his intelligence, he lacks that because of experience. So, if you keep on playing the same way after half time, then, Xavi must leave for the good of the team.

It's a problem of not replacing Busquets with the right quality of player and the players trying to cover that position as a team. From the start of the season our midfield has been a mess with players who don't play as natural holding midfielders trying to fill that slot whilst doing the things they're good at, Gundogan, Gavi, De Jong, Cancelo coming into midfield, etc. So our midfielders always get caught out of position, which affects our counter press when we lose the ball, and our defence is very isolated and under more pressure than last season. As fans we underestimated how much Busquets gave us both in and out of possession. That's probably been one the biggest issues Xavi has struggled to find solutions for. Xavi found answers for our attack and defence where Koeman couldn't. And we (the fans) easily forget that. Secondly, as fans we've allowed the spanish media to make us so much more reactionary and less understanding of the circumstances Barca are in. We went into the transfer window with unrealistic expectations (thinking signings like Kimmich and Zubimendi were possible) and let the media fuel our negativity, then again when the season started and throughout we let the media keep hyping the negativity up to the point where the question became Xavi In or Xavi Out. Instead of giving the players and Xavi the support, patience and understanding they needed this season

Xavi had hinted his own departure last week before his announcement last night. On this platform many called for his head so I hope everyone is happy now. I have always maintained that teams go through difficult phases and they turn around but this is Barca we don't have patience and we devour our own without exception Pep etc will tell you. The announcement a couple of weeks ago that Deco was to take a bigger part in team discipline matters is as I said at the time the reason behind the timing of Xavis decision

I think that we are forgetting that the previous year the title was a personal achievement of Ter Stegen. We played just as horribly as these days (including defensively). Maybe Xavi is just not able see the big picture and really be a big manager. He might be a good man though....

The players are just like us ...they like Xavi as a person and rate him for the legendary player he was...they also might have liked how lenient he was with them as well... however you could see that they did not respect him as manager....this is why players felt comfortable stating their preference of where they like to play as well as publicly criticizing Xavi's tactic....No serious manager would stand for that kind of disrespect.

His announcement is a strong message to the team, especially the senior players, that such performances like yesterday are never acceptable under any circumstances and have repercussions Especially to the senior players like Lewandowski that feel too big. Xavi is so class man...this board is a shame. Seriously they treat their legends and all time greats like trash and ask their contracted players constantly to reduce their salaries as they mortgage their future with more and more levers....and yet still look to sign big name players. They have no development plan or rebuild plan. This wasn't on Xavi. He brought them a La Liga when they probably weren't good enough, it's just that the other clubs weren't at their best either. Now we had unreasonable expectations.

Never wanted him to coach this team just yet, but this situation was fixable. We underestimate losing Pique, Busi and Alba all at once did to this team in term of leadership and Ingo, Gundo and Lewa did not make for that and its too early for MAtS, Araujo and FDJ to step up i guess. He shouldve stuck it out and figure out the DM problem like he found solutions in the past. I wish he returns in 10 or so years down the line as a better coach

The new manager has a massive job, lets be honest we don't have 11 world class players let alone a world class squad. To ensure that the current squad performs at a high level consistently while also rebuilding with no money is going to need someone special.

Start with defence. You have a group who went from letting in a record low amount of goals last season to a group who have let in possibly a record high amount of goals this season. They have to take a long hard look at their attitude. Take Kounde, sulking because he wasn’t getting to play in his favourite position, but when he does, he’s rubbish. Playing Frenke DJ out of position, relying on Pedri who hasn’t played a decent game for 2years. The youngsters are good but can’t expect them to play at highest level on a regular basis. Xavi is lucky that he can just walk away and not worry about his bills. Xavi Alonso will be on everyone’s lips, but will he want it.?.

Xavi's decision came the right time though it shocked everyone but it will give the Board enough time choose a successor. We all are going to miss him

Barca need an overhaul. They need people who are determined to resurrect their careers, such as Wayne Rooney as a manager, Loris Karius who has been a good backup gk, Harry Maguire whose problem is Man Utd, he's been good at Leicester, then the physical and goal rich Romelu Lukaku in place of Lewa as striker. Lukaku is younger and can be a threatening presence. Lingard's been hard at work and intends to join Barca, so why not sign a passionate fella like him in midfield? Tbh tho, Bartomeu's time was laden with trophies, while Laporta's is basically like Tottenham apart from the La Liga last year. Unpopular opinion ofc, but something I felt Barca really needs. Many a gamble have been played, but I feel this risk will pay off...

I don't by the whole 'media killed me' , the flags were there. We didn't have a mentality problem, that was actually his strength, He is a very poor tactician! He's a poor coach, good man manager. He's 95 percent responsible. Laziness or lack of intensity most times stems from a lack of playing pattern, roles. They are not coached properly!

It was a good decision. We need fresh ideas. Xavi just didn't want to try anything new. He has a bunch of players sitting on the bench. His tactics are all the same every games so other managers always seem to get the better of him. Many players need to leave as well.

Just look at how the ladies are doing well in their league and other competitions, but the guys are just the other way round. They play every game with lack of confidence, we always concede first in every game who does that. It's very heartbreaking to see a coach like xavi leaving this club

What boggles me the most is that in Xavi’s time at Al Sadd, he changed that team into a mini Barca, they were passing, they were pressing with good positional play, they were literally playing a lesser form of tiki taka, but when Xavi arrived at Barcelona we’ve barely seen any of it, only minor glimpses and for me I would give Xavi at least a year again, for me at least it is not him, it is the players that need to go out there and what is holding them back is fear, sure Xavi made some mistakes, every manager does, but when you play with fear, you won’t be brave to try things, you will be afraid to play the Barca way because let’s face it, to play that football you need brave players. This is why when we see LaMasia players get a chance in the first team, they seem to impress because they play bravely. The problem is the first team players at least majority are afraid to play ball. Another manager is not really going to change things unless he can convince these players to go out and play, else we are going to see a repeat of what I call new manager syndrome when the players play well for 1 season but when it is the second and it’s time to up their game they fall flat.

I believe that Xavi will return. He really learned a lot with Barca but now he needs to look at other places so he can grow. I think it would be interesting to see if he can coach in the prem. Maybe try to do what Thiago motta is doing with bologna in the seria A with another Italian team. He just needs to build up his experience and evolve his tactics so that he can return with enlightenment and a pure philosophy of how to win

Xavi has put all the pressure now on LaPorta and The Board and the Players. His stepping aside is now saying, okay look I tried and I don’t have any more to give. Now the true focus will shift to the powers above him, and maybe that will expose the inner issues. I applaud him for his honesty, for his stepping up, and thank him for the two years of bringing this club back, but now it’s time for a new leaf and I’m really curious to see if we sink or swim with our superiors We need a coach like KLOPP, with that mindset and experience and even the ability to connect with the fan base and the players. What he did at Liverpool for 8 years is exactly what FCB needs, that is my choice for next coach

Life long fan, here’s my take: I think he took the easy route. You won 2 titles, all in your first year. Perfect. So theoretically, the next year we should see progress. This year we got worse, in every aspect. I don’t believe Xavi has taken drastic enough measures to fix the situation. I think he had one bad year & he quit on the team. That tells you everything about his leadership qualities. We lost a ton of veterans, the ones who actually made a difference. I wish Xavi the best but quitting after one bad year proves he wasn’t the right man for the job

I think Klopp or Hansi Flick will be a good replacement in my mind. Feasibility wise, that's another story

Realistically speaking - bring Flick and blow up the squad. Ship out Roberto, Alonso, Romeu, Kounde, Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ferran to raise money. Let the two Joaos leave, Push FDJ to renew for cheaper or leave, and get some competition for Ter Stegen. Bring back Alex Valle or Cardona from LP for LB, Julian Araujo or Hector Fort as the backup RB, Lucas Bergvall is about to be signed, get Arnau Martinez as the starting RB, get a winger who can dribble well on either flank (primarily LW), and make a young DM your big signing of the summer. Fill in the squad with kids like Yamal, Cubarsi, Fort and Fermin - academy kids should be the core.

We are suffering from dembele’s departure and no one wants to admit it. Last season, lewa’s goals dried up the moment dembele got injured after the World Cup. We need to replace him.. raphina is not good enough

If our fans were not toxic we would have had Pep today and that's why there will never be a Sir Alex Ferguson at Barca. I still see the signing of Lewandoski as a hidden curse for Xavi. Yes he score goals but first at 50M a 35 y/o player? And to get him we had to sacrifice Aubameyang and Depay that came free and could press in defense? Biggest mistake He hasnt helped the other players express their football since thwy had to cover his space when he wither didnt press or went out of position. The other 2 players that disappointed were Raphina and Ferran For 100M it would have been better to get cheaper players and we could have gotten 5-6 cheap players like Kudus or even Sadio Mane since he had to leave for just 20M

For me the answer of who should succeed Xavi comes down to a couple of things: 1. Does Laporta want a quick fix solution to save face for re-election 2. Is Laporta actually ready to have a long term project and to trust in la masia over big name signings? Xavi was a golden opportunity for Barca to build a young team that wouldn't have won trophies now but would have become something special as both the youngsters and the coach would have grown into their potential, but Laporta ruined that with the levers and signing the Lewandowskis, Raphinhas and Koundes. So, If Laporta is serious about being patient and building a proper project, then Alguacil is probably the best candidate because over the past 4 years he has built something impressive on a budget. Provided the fan base can also grow the fuck up and accept that in football you can't win every year, then Alguacil can have a good chance of building a formidable Barca, plus he will come with experience in winning trophies and managing in europe. Also, Alguacil could maybe help convince Zubimendi to come to Barca. Needless to say I think this is who Barca should get. However, if Laporta goes for option 1 as I suspect he will then we will probably see Hansi Flick or Naggelsman at the helm of Barca, in terms of availability they are arguably the best options next to Klopp. Klopp, however, isn't a realistic target because he wants some time off managing so unless Laporta convinces someone like Flick to be a "care taker" kind of guy for a season then I don't see it happening. So Klopp will probably end up at Bayern. The fairy tale story would of course be Pep leaving City and returning but that's a pipe dream.

I don't believe that the press has anything to do with us. If we dig deep you will see that there's no synergy between Xavi and Deco. Look at Vitor Roque's situation and Xavi's comment saying "ROQUE IS BARCA'S PLAYER AND NOT DECOS. I'll conclude that Xavi's exit is more of Deco

I want all culers to be patient with who ever come after Xavi. A season like this may come to every team but its fans responsibility to be by the club and be patient with manager

Nagelsmann or Flick. The club needs a complete shake up in the playing style. They need a modern approach with 10x more intensity than what they currently have with their slow motion possession style with zero care. The players need more discipline

You see the problem we have as a club at the moment is that Xavi is Barcelona and Barcelona is Xavi and no one wanted Xavi to fail hence we are emotional. our judgement of Xavi's tenure is based on our love for him and also our hopes that we had for him as a coach .If this was any other person whom we are attached to, he would have long gone. Pimienta was sacked which was a beginning of the downward spiral of Laporta's management Jodi Cryuff's leaving and the Alemany retracting showed cracks in Laportas's management that we ignored deco's appointment and then Alemany leaves further showed us the cracks in Laporta's management but we ignored because we love him. Xavi's renewal timing was way off but we ddnt say anything If we really need to build a long lasting project we need to bring in a coach who can build.....Pimienta who has done some serious building at Las Palmas. We dnt need a coach for this season and two more and then we are back to square one. lets go back to our roots. But I know Laporta wont go for Pimienta but would want an elite coach not for Barcelona but for political reasons and this is the biggest problem in barcelona.Its now to political.

The only replacement I can imagine is Arteta, but he's an unrealistic target. Guardiola making a return is also unrealistic.

I stopped caring about Titles and wins, even before XAVI arrived. So the two titles were bonus. Building a project takes time, especially when we are low on budget. Whoever arrives will not bring any magic which will take us to peak over night.

You know what... I am gonna say this though... the best version of Barcelona was when Auba, Dembele, Busquets and Alves were still here. We enjoyed one of the best moments of Barcelona football in recent times when 4 goal Barcelona was alive and kicking. A makeshift team which was better than the team which was prepared to win titles is kinda unheard of. 😅

Jamie, do you see Pep returning to Barça for the next season? He would be the perfect solutuon for our club, but I’m afraid of Deco being against his return because of what happened back in 2008. Plus I have doubts about how commited to our cruyffist philosophy Deco really is. That could drive Pep away from a potential return.

Kloop will be taking a break for a year atleast, Pep won't be coming back tbh as a coach, My favourite option would be Julian Nagelsmann. He should be the one who should take us forward, he is young and so great just look at his spell at Leipzig and Munich, what a coach

Earlier we thought its valverde then we thought it was koeman then we thought it was the likes of busquets alba and pique that were pulling the team down but with a new coach and a new team we're still bottling up easy games, we're still making the same mistakes. The problems run deeper than we as fans can think.

I think Xavi has given opportunities to amazing young talents that will be backbone of Barca in the upcoming years. The creativity of the team from the left and right flanks hasnot been good for years and we lost maestro that was creating chances from middle: Busquets. When Pedri was injured, Our game was horrible and we were not creating chances, Xavi was experimenting alot to see how we can have creative passes forward, Frakie was doing it occasionally otherwise the game was boring. If you look at the 3 goals we scored yesterday Pedri is a must for Barca. Another main position we have been having difficulties is the striker position and if Victor Roque plays good we might suddenly click and possibilities are limitless. Also the Front line should have Ferran, Victor Roque/Lewandoski and Lamine/Raphina. Ferran can play wide too which we need vs Joao Felix keeps coming in from left which has not been helping us consistently. I think Xavi has done his best and we have been very unfortunate some times. Xavi has slowly cleaned up the mess that was left from Bartomeu. Currently in our team a lot of players are from academy and they are improving every game. I think we will appreciate Xavi more at the end of the season!

Oh man allameny and hueste have certainly effected this club. Matheu Alemany is legendary in his job. I have started to realize now why our board should have respected their opinions.

The mass media has instilled way too much fear and pressure to Xavi and his team. It ends of being counterproductive and every one fears making even making minor mistakes, thus leading to this situation we are in. I believe if enough time, money, resources and patience is given to Xavi, he can potentially grow to a great manager over time. Which sadly we are not seeing this right now.

I feel all the new signings that came in this season have a combined negative effect on our team of last season. Individually, they might be good, but collectively, they have a negative effect.

We were comparing Xavi to Pep, however I think personally that Xavi did a good job with the team he had and with the situation the club is in. He, after all, had no Messi, Puyol, Pique, Alba, Alves, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets, Eto'o, Zlatan, Villa - as Pep guardiola did when he was in charge. Big bow to Xavi! I hope he is back when club is in better situation!
