One of the reasons why Sidious was so dangerous is because he knows to control himself and understand the Jedi because one mess up would be his doom. So He plans accordingly to Jedi. yes Sidious is just as intelligent as he is powerful

Denial helped the Sith. The Jedi chose to believe in the impossibility of the Sith's return. That alone has a psychological effect that would have affected most Jedi's perceptions. Group thinking, and arrogance from the Council, stopped them from even listening to the few who warned about the threat.

If the original trilogy didn’t have to be followed I’m certain yoda would have won. He’s given credit for being powerful but he’s still more than what most people think. I truly believe he would have won against sidious in a different setting. Catching his lightning in his hand. When that would fry most people instantly. He’s his superior with a light saber without question. Yoda is the GOAT

To truly know the light side one must study the darkside..Yoda understood this. "Know thy enemy and know thy self in 1000 battles you shall never be in peril" this quote is from the Art of War by Sun Tzu. Yoda was a bit weak in fully knowing himself and the Jedi, they left themselves unable to sense the dark side at the level they needed to. This was the fault of the Jedi and Yoda as the strongest Light Side force wielder.

I think that with Yodas long life that when he was a young jedi he would have learned far more about the subject of the dark side than the modern Jedi were taught by the Clone wars period. He also had lots of sith artifacts and holocrons in the secured archives at the temple. Plus the prison that they had built to entrap the sith and dark jedi in .

Is this REALLY that surprising honestly??? Being literally have a millennium old pretty sure in a LITERAL History books, dusty an forgotten, is Yoda in some Rebellious young phase not learned wisdom an commitment zealously to the Lightside yet. There's enough time, centuries, for him to go from good, but not great yet, to sorta bad perhaps even kinda Evilish an redemption back to strait good again whom knows how many times before the events of Ep1 an prior in books an comics. Seeing as in about every other franchise not just this one. Few characters are so little known about their FULL or even partial History an backstory an yet are so decidedly committed to one side AND so absurdly powerful an smart requiring absolute top tier abilities across the board or even better to ever best. Which is what Sideous FINALLY managed to do. Wonder if in his mysterious an barely known past if there was at various times while Yoda was coming up if Yoda had multiple rivals he had to best in turn like Anakin an Obi with the likes of Dooku, Grevious an Maul on his way to the final "boss" like Sideous

@@rredeyee2460 agreed, one can't combat any sorta enemy if they have no idea even the most basic things about them have lot of similar thoughts you just stated I just didn't mention those ones. An the thing about Orthodox Jedi was one HAD TO BE A Master level, equivalent or better. There's nothing that says NO ONE may study it. In fact the more Senior one gets the MORE they should be prepared for. An since knowledge is power at the bare minimum have THAT even if you got no practical prac apping experience of without which there would been no chance at all so agreed Yoda was right to master least all he could on at minimum an academic level ALL the Masters an key positions in the Order shoulda done the same an probably shoulda been required study an mastery at least the senior Knight level even
@AW-sg9wd
@AW-sg9wd 6 месяцев назад
I was saying the same thing essentially. Yoda lived an extremely long life and had access to all the ancient sith artifacts and holocrons in the secured archives at the temple. Also when he was a young jedi and the sith were not extinct they probably had taught the students that were older sith force powers and how to counter and defend against them. But by the Clone Wars era the sith were thought to be extinct and the odds of encountering a sith lord or apprentice were very low so they stopped teaching the sith techniques and how to defend against those sith powers and attacks. But then again that's just my thoughts and I don't read the books or comics so I could be wrong about it. I also don't know much about the jedi when Yoda first came to the Jedi temple to train as a jedi.
@robertagu5533
@robertagu5533 6 месяцев назад
@@AW-sg9wd yeah cuz no one really does since from the start was a deliberate "?" Instead of giving any us anything on this time. The Original Jedi an probably a bit into his early years which I imagine was Early to Mid Old Republic as we know it. Sorta like you said. Back then it'd been smart to teach least a basic level of the enemy strategies an techniques if only to understand their limits, counters an how to turn the tables... SOME they never should stopped even if the Sith was gone since they also translated well to everyday operations too it was just in how one used most of them as MANY successors would later PROVE. including many of EU Luke's Jedi. An Luke himself. Lack of a usual arch enemy I think doesn't excuse moving away from being in Balance as the Original Jedi intended anyways. Something both Force Users seriously messed up on. As the original Jedì Order woulda locked them all on the opposite moon for too... guess in some cases.. it'd be for Life as in Yoda, Mace, Mundi an Sideous since they was HOPLESSLY or least Yoda was for awhile... dogmatic to their respective sides
@AW-sg9wd
@AW-sg9wd 6 месяцев назад
@robertagu5533 I totally agree with what you said about it it would have been foolish not to know the enemy being the sith as to their attacks and defenses of the Jedi and very few modern Jedi knew how to fight the sith. Being in balance is the key and knowing how to defend and counter their attacks is key to defeating them and the modern Jedi thought the sith to be extinct and became complacent. I grew up with the original trilogy and Yodas back story always interested me as well as Kenobis and Vader/Anakins. The prequels did get into some of it but left a ton to be explored. But I definitely would love to see a movie or show about young Yoda in the first few hundred years of his time in the Jedi order.

With this insight. Imagine how much Yoda is thrown off by Sidious' choice of apprentices he knew of. This being a Zabrak who was defeated by a padawan. Then Dooku. A former Jedi, a strong Jedi, of course, but nowhere near the potential with the Dark Side for a Rule of Two Sith . Dooku was advanced in age, and past his prime. Sidious should be choosing apprentices with more potential than Maul and Dooku. This lacked sense. Yoda could not see until near the end of the Clone wars, there was another apprentice for Sidious, one who finally was worthy of being a Sith Lord with potential equal or greater than Sidious. Hindsight is 20/20, and Yoda must have hated himself even more for not considering Anakin as this next Sith Lord. It is another insight into why Yoda was opposed to training Luke.

One cannot Defeat an Opposing Force without Understanding the Opposing Side. In Order to do so 2 things are essential: embracing the ways of the opposite side by learning the teachings/methods/ reasoning of their practices/ideologies, and thinking as your opponents would based on rendering oneself to their experiences. These are some of the founding principles of Sun Tzu's The Art of War, and Robert Greene's The 48 Laws of Power. Sidious obtained so much power and knowledge because he rendered himself a student and servant to those of high value. Yoda obtained the amount of power and knowledge through his understanding of the Darkside/Sith as well. How can one triumph over any opposing force without understanding it????????

Qui-Gon Jinn also had a great understanding of the Dark Side, and understood why it existed, but obviously never needed to wield it. In his almost full eon of life, I can imagine that Yoda encountered many, many eerie things where the Dark Side is concerned. (Spoilers incoming I'm sorry);Yoda may not have foresaw what Sideous was really up to, but I think his later training of Luke more than made up for it by being involved in bringing balance to the Force, pointing Luke in the right direction, allowing the young Skywalker to bring Anakin back to his senses, and fulfill his destiny by destroying the Sith and returning the balance.

With all this knowledge that Yoda possessed, he really could have done a better job with Anakin in Revenge of the Sith!

The two stories in particular should have remained canon. They added a kot of growth snd character development to yoda as a whole.

Stupid it would be, not to study the ways and cultures of such an extraordinary enemy.

I shall study the texts and drawings of my children to better-understand the dark side.

It can't be denied how many mistakes Yoda and the clone Wars era Jedi made, but I think Yoda studying the dark side from a historian perspective is something that was honestly a hugely tactful move, but I also think ultimately it was a mistake as if Yoda had allowed these texts to be seen and read over by more members of the Jedi it's possible ones like lost twenty, Dooku, and even Anakin could of been saved with access to that kinda knowledge and understanding of how the dark side/Sith even if it was the Sith of old operated.

Many years ago I read a book that included a section where Luke found a recording of Yoda from around 300 BBY where he reported leading a group of Jedi in battle against the force witches of Dathomir (pretty sure this was before Darth Maul or The Clone Wars series were ever conceived). Yoda had never personally met the Sith, but he DID have first-hand experience dealing with Dark Side enemies, and he had seen his fellow Jedi die at their hands. It makes perfect sense that this would have led him to study the Dark Side in an effort to improve his teachings. I can't recall the book's title.

Why didn't Yoda not sense that the (younglings) were in immediate danger as soon as he felt the jedi being cut down. He spent so much time with them. There had to be a close force connection for them? Love the channel. I look forward to checking it out daily.

I think its because the dark side was blocking the jedi from accessing the light side as much as they could in the past

I think you have to study the enemy. You have no other choice. Which is kinda the dumb part of the story. How they think, how they move, how they fight. Why? Because they are studying you. This is why I don’t like calling myself a nerd. The naive thing.

I mean Yoda did tho, he mastered all forms of Lightsaber combat including one's Sith use but the Sith have adapted far beyond what they traditionally do

Yoda did yes but look the way the story is ok. Looking at the Sith holo cron will turn the Jedi to the dark side. They say stuff like that in this story. Because they may turn. So how would they study them before Yoda? I love the story but there are some hard parts to it

Yoda was too old tenor to have some knowledge of the Darkside of the Force. What Yoda lacked was experience. Seems that should be a requirement for a Master.
