Everytime i hear stories like this, and I go back and read….. disney did SW a grave disservice

Her Vaapad became Juyo,just like Sora Bulq’s Vaapad became Juyo as well. I’m loving this. Shatter Point is in deed my favorite novel. Disney and Dave Foloni dropped the ball on Mace, Depa,Kar Vastor, and the Korunnai.

As I recall from Shadows of Mindor, Kar Vastor told Luke he was unlike any other Jedi he had ever met. For unlike Mace Windu and the others, Luke didn't fear the dark side.

"Balawai" , meaning "Down folk", was the Korunnai term for everyone who came to settle Haruun Kal after them, because the city of Pelek Baw was established at a much lower altitude than the Korunnai Highlands. I don't recall any indication that it was a specific species. I'm 98% sure everyone Mace interacted with once he left the city seemed to be human, with aliens only mentioned within the city. Also, while Mace was indeed an orphan, his Ghosh was not finally wiped out (except for him and Kar) until the Clone Wars. Unless I am very much mistaken, they were still around when Mace first returned to Haruun Kal as a teenager (and told the tales that later inspired Kar to create the Akk Guard) ... and if Mace is being literal that Kar is half his age, and Mace is indeed about 50 in the Clone Wars (if memory serves, he does reflect in the novel that his teenage visit was over 30 years beforehand) then that would mean Kar hadn't been born back then. If I remember correctly, Mace's estimation of Kar's power and potential is coloured by, and limited to, where they are. On Haruun Kal, Kar's connection with the jungle; his oneness with Pelekotan, is what makes him so much more dangerous. Anywhere else, he wouldn't seem so overwhelming. He'd still have "prodigious potential" as Cronal puts it, but there's no indication when Luke faces him on Mindor that he's as overpowered as he had seemed on Haruun Kal.

Disney slept on Depa Billaba And they slept on Kar Vastor.

They really need to do a Windu series.

Great job summarizing that Novel into a 14 min. video. I work long hours and recently started to use audible to help me get through the day. This was one the Novels. (I got to admit though they used did kind of sound like Samuel L. Jackson.) That being said they did jam a lot of info about Windu in their, particularly without this Novel I would of never known he kept a journal

Also I think people in the comics are misunderstanding something. Power in the force and oneness with the force are two different things. Oneness with the force seems like power but that’s only the first layer. Castor could communicate with nature on a level no other Jedi could aside from probably Yoda. I think anakin and Vastor were probably equal but coming from two different sides. Anakin learned how to become a Jedi and mastered it. Vastor was a literal force of nature.

I once read a fan fiction that neatly tied how this could be incorporated into the new films, and it went a little like this. Revenge of the Sith - As Kar Vaster sat in prison he sensed in the force a powerful shift and that his brother was in immediate danger. Despite his differences with his Mace he was still blood, and with his immense force power Kastor used this opportunity to escape from prison, to aid his brother. However, when he arrived he was to late Mace had been ejected through the window and was falling to his doom. Kastor interceded and taking he's broken brother hid and nursed him to health. Using the force and Jedi mind tricks Kastor gets his brother off world, end heads to the outer rim or wild space. - Palpatine was a bit disturbed when the clone patrols could not confirm the body of Mace Windu. Nonetheless, this concern vanished as he knew Windu had been defeated and was no longer a significant threat just as Yoda wasn't In between Revenge of the Sith and a New Hope - As Mace recovers, now far from the Emperor's grasp he telepathically communes with Yoda. Yoda informs him that the Jedi have a hope in Anakin's children. Mace fiercely disagrees and believes the plan foolish. He reiterates that had Yoda listened to him Anakin would have never been trained and this situation avoided. This harsh disagreement leads to a falling out between the 2 Masters, as Mace thinks no Skywalker can be trusted. - In light of his disagreement with Yoda, Mace believes the Jedi need to change and so he with the help of Kastor create a new order that would be "Gray Jedi" Yoda strongly objects to this creation of the order and both go separate ways. - Windu begins training Kastor to harness his potential. The plan is to build their power in secret just as the Sith did and then in quick strike kill Palpatine and Vader. A New Hope - Windu hears word of the Rebels but feels they won't be enough to stop the Empire. He continues remaining in the shadows building his secret gray Jedi powerbase. Even after the deathstar has been destroyed Mace does not believe it is enough. Meanwhile Kastor grows in power. Empire Strikes Back - Windu reached out to Yoda who informs him of Luke Skywalker being trained. Infuriated Mace severs communication with Yoda as he feels this will end in disaster. He continues training his group of JEdi and his brother now for the preparation of having to slay Luke too as he believes Luke will turn to the darkside. Return of the Jedi - Mace feel his group of Jedi are nearly ready for the task ahead of him. He feels that he, his brother and followers are powerful enough to face off against Palpatine and Vader. While final preparations are being made to reveal themselves the Battle of Endor occurs and Palpatine and Vader fall. Shocked by this Mace still doesn't trust Skywalker and wants to wait for sometime to see how he acts before revealing himself. However, Mace would not get this luxury as an alien force from outside the galaxy begins it invasion into the outer rim. This foe is formidable and possibly an even greater threat than the Sith. Mace and his order ally with the Chiss and quietly begin to combat this threat. Meanwhile, the rest of the galaxy remains unaware of this imminent threat. The Sequels - During the fight with the alien invasion force, the enemy employed tactics that inhibited Mace and the others to get outside help from the rest of the galaxy. This means that the events of the sequel happen without his and his Jedi's knowledge. By the end of the Sequels Mace's Jedi and local allies seemed to have won the war, but to their horror they realize it's only the beginning as the main invasion fleet arrives into the system. During the Sequels Mace passed and his aging brother Kar Vastor was the one to stop the immediate alien invasion force. With the immediate alien invasion force defeated this allowed an opening in communications and travel so that one of Kar Vastor trusted Jedi could go out into the main galaxy and request help from the republic and other forces. New Sequels - The New Sequels would be about the galaxy fighting against this Alien force that calls itself the Yuuzhan Vong.

This is very interesting story. I like this. Tragic life but very powerful. Had good end. Good story. I think he's not near level of Yoda or Mace. It's good Windu had such great challenge. Could be that he was a Yoda level threat only on that planet, in that jungle. Offworld, he likely doesn’t hold a candle to most Jedi knights, let alone masters. But this is my first time hearing about him, so I’m likely wrong.

Sorry, but Yoda is a master of Survive-Escape-Live to fight another day-Return unexpected, unheard, unseen, and remove your head from the rest of you. As Master Yoda would never consider surviving a fight to be a failure, the line "I have failed." In SW3 was a ruse statement. He knew that Palpatine could read voices through the force. His hope was that Palpatine would grow overconfident with his "win".

Soncerely sometimes I think this guy have some problems with text interpretation. Windu never puts Kar Vastorin the same level of power of Yoda and Anakin, he reckon that give his abilities his midichlorian count should be off the charts like it was on Yoda or Anakin, but without the training and discipline of a Jedi or Sith having such a high midichlorian count could only get someone so far. As Mace Windu says in the novel, a Jedi answer to raw power is skill, and despit losing to Vastor, on their gist fight, before being knocked out, Windu gives Vastor the beating of his life. The whole theme of thee novel was Windu reflecting on his own part initiating it, he starts of admiring that had he killed Dooku right away, he would have prevented the war, but he could not cold bloddedly kill someone he considered a close friend. Yet at that moment on th Gonosis Arena he knew Dooku was the Shatterpoint of the whole CIS, eliminate it and the separatist movement would crumble, but instead he extended his blade to Jango Fett. Depa Billaba goes as far as saying the reason the war was dragging on was that since the Jedi were keepers of the peace they went to Gonosis to save a senator and two of their own, when a good strategist would just explode the arena with a Baradium bomb and kill the entire separatist leadership with a senator and two Jedi as unfortunate collateral effects. Windu is faced with many situations where it is Cristal clear how powerful he was, but he often states that in many situations, someone like Yoda or Anakin, could just use a brute force approach with their force powers because they have too much midichlorians, and to so one like Windu, not as gofted with such a raw connection, he had to aconplish the same by expert use of skill. Which is also how Vaapad works, as he says, Vaapad isn't a lightsabe style Vaapad is a state of mind, and he don't have to use a lightsabe to use it, he just need to expert apply his extremely honed skill. This is why he also states that both Depa Billaba and Sora Bulk did not mastered Vaapad, but Vaapad mastered them instead. Also Mace refused the idea he and Vastor were related due to tribal traditions, he clearly denies Vastor compliment as a his Tribal Brother, stating that his bothers and sisters were the Jedi.

While I don't mind there being other organizations or even singular force beings around the SW galaxy, I agree the OP characters can become a bit exhausting. I see this as lazy writing. I've said many times, it's easy to write an OP force character, as you can give them a massive power to make them a challenge for a Jedi. It's a bit more difficult to come up with a story with other scenarios to challenge a Jedi or Sith. Oh, and now we can add Luke Skywalker to be a savior to this person. Using his power and skill to add more to the story. Because of course, only Luke will have the capability. It's lazy. Not at all creative, such as the Yuuzhan Vong stories. Where there is actually good intrigue and depth.

Castor wasn’t Mace’s brother, and he beat the crap out of Vastor at the end of the book they were in. Vastor was powerful but he was no match for a master Jedi.

One of my favorite stories. I think if Anakin fought Kar Vastor he would have won but it'd been hard diff and he would have plummeted into the Darkside. So, Vader would win not Anakin. Yoda would have literally disarmed Vastor. But if he doesn't give up... curtains. I do believe if Vastor jad been trained as a Bendu either could do nothing against him.

Hey I read the novel and I have to disagree with you. If Mace said what he said about his brother's powers, I take it as fact. These are fictional characters so why would anyone use words to undermine his reputation, as if he is not to betake. Seriously or respected. I doubt, if it was said by Luke, yoda , or OB1, the respect would have been different. MACE IS OF THE SAME Caliber As they are. Force is supposed to be endemic to the universe not to Jedi. He comes from people that are naturally force sensitive, he had been at war for years and was fully feeding of the force of a hole jungle for years. He might not have jedi training for restraint on the force but he had more tht enough force and combat training. Every body loves Luke so yes it was good to see him comback help mace's bro. But no i don't like how he goes on into obscurity. I would have liked to see him not be a jedi but still be a person that luke could respect and call on in times of need. Maybe even worked in as a helper for Luke especially after his mind was overwhelmed by Jorus C'baoth. He was too powerful and unique not to keep in the lore.
