I really want to commend you on your video in this vein. I've watched a bunch of them and it has opened my eyes. Your emphasis on the variety of ways to hit a golf ball has changed my way of thinking about golf. Rather than try to hit the perfect golf shot in one particular way I now experiment on the range with different launch angles, different ball placement, different aim, and the way I release or hold onto the club. I was a fader of the ball. Now I can hit draw or fade, high or low and I have a much better feel for what each will do to distance and line. It's wonderful! So enjoyable and I hope productive when next season starts.

All I can say is thankyou for this video Mark, I have been suffering with inconsistent fades/slices all my life, 20+ years later I found this video and fixed it completely. After all the slow progress my research and self training has now paid off, The wrist was my problem and when I started flattening my wrist, literally Today, I saw my drives going straight or to a purposeful fade or draw, Not to mention out of the middle of the club. thankyou thankyou thankyou !!!!

I just went through a fitting for a new driver and a big part of the discussion was on where I was hitting the ball. I have really been focusing on that and am definitely seeing improvement in my consistency on where I hit the face of the club. All through using most of the adjustments you just talked about. Great video.

Brilliant Mark. Just started playing again after 7 year break due to knee and hip issues (previously +3 HCP) - making small gains but only turning 108mph club speed in to147mph ball speed (about 282 yards total). After watching this video my club path is 0.6 degree in to out but my face to path is 20 degrees open resulting in a very glancing blow despite it feeling solid off the club face. I'm not expecting miracles as I'm now 51 but this lack of efficiency probably caused by lack of body rotation (for above reasons) gives me some solid hope for a few more yards and more strike consistency

This is a great video. Long time watcher, first time commenter. Play off 6. It's so easy to practice strike at the beginning of each season and then forget and/or lose track of it over the course of the year. So important to maintain that practice all the time! Just got fitted for a new stick and the first thing I will do is figure out if the strike tendencies have changed and work out some triggers to fix them!

This idea has helped me so much. I used to over correct every shot slice one drive, pull hook the next trying to "fix" problems that weren't there. I now look at if it was a normal good swing if the shape was not quite right it probably was strike location and just try to hit the next one with the same swing but control strike better. It has helped so much in my consistency with driver.

You did a vid long time ago on this I used foot spray and frequented to driving range move around and figured out my issues started moving stance and club head position at address after many trips I learned a lot and golf and driving the ball became more enjoyable ty Mark strike is king 🤴

The last few videos I have watched 💡 have been going off at an alarming rate. Almost fell stupid or foolish. I been playing for years. I’m a 13 handicap with no professional help. The last video I watch was on another channel talking about the left wrist and staying in plain. Left arm through the right shoulder in the back swing. I was too high and had a over the top swing. I fixed that the last two days. I fixed by coming more inside (feel wise) and flattening my left wrist. Yesterday I shorten my back swing and gained more control and consistency plus no loss in distance. In fact I might have gained some because of better strikes. Thank you Mark for this video and all you videos I now know why it was better and what to do if things are going array.

Honestly makes a ton of sense. Start small and work with the foundational layer to help get the ball moving the way you anticipate it to. Great video! Looking to work this in on some of my stuff as well!

Spot on analysis. A huge problem most hackers like me have is understanding what caused the last shot to go awry, and what to change for the next shot. In most endeavours the feedback loop between input and outcome is much more easily understood; not so in golf!

Made the change to a stronger grip with driver and wow I'm excited. Finding alot easier with wrists at top of backswing. Didnt lose one to the right today and felt like striking consistency improved.

Great video, had an issue for a month or so, was hitting high heal. I usually strike higher on the face any way, but the heal was giving me a massive slice. Next time out, will pay more attention to face. What I was doing was bending my left art in my backswing, keeping it straight put it closer to the middle again. Hi Mark, this video was such a big help. I really struggle with hitting my drives out of the heel and found myself searching for better strikes. After watching this, I tinkered with a few grip positions while practicing the same fundamentals of my swing. After a few hits and seeing my ball move right not left I started to find more confidence and control. Thank you for tips to helping me focus on a fix instead of just hitting balls. Charles.

I use those club shaped stick on things for my driver to monitor exactly where I hit the ball on the face. I make little adjustments like you mentioned if I need to, sure helps me, If I have everything else in place, i.e. set up. Great video, I love these kind of things.

So True! I spent the first 5-years learning golf trying to sort out my driver swing, until one Spring I started putting gaffer tape on the face and quickly learned to find the middle. The problem is with drivers you can't feel much difference between centre and 1-inch away so you need an indicator. Why don't golf coaches just slap gaffer tape on all your clubs from day one, then you'll get to know the correct centre strike feeling? I've suggested to various mates on course, and most are hitting miles away from centre and don't know it. Ps, I love it when Mark says he's going to hit low on the face, then strikes 2mm below centre! That's middle for most people. PPs, still no one mentions where on the golf ball they aim. I find aiming at 4 O'clock rather than 3 encourages you to come from the inside and drop the club into the head below hands path. Do people just aim at the whole ball? I have to choose a spot.

I have been working on my strike pattern. I have a cobra speedzone driver and fingers the infinity face on it shows the strike well. I like you line it up a bit off the heel now coz I tend to be a bit toey with my driver. Can only use the range just now but hoping when the courses are back open can play some better golf.

mark i found the best way to fix my issues is to focus just on hitting up on the ball. You cant really go over the top if thats your thought and you cant really drive down into the ball, both faults i tend to have. It also stops me overthinking on the shot and confidence is a huge positive. I then see in my mind the club being released and the upward trajectory. This thought has fixed (for now) my main faults and i am driving like never before. Now i am in a position for strike position as i have consistency of swing. I highly recommend this basic process if you struggle with over the top and downward striking as it can get very demoralising not being able to gt the over the top issue resolved.

That helps a lot. I use the foot powder spray. I can tell (some times) where I hit the face. The control of path and face is what I can not tell. I hear people say - you have to feel the club head. Great video. Practice with a GC Quad would be so beneficial. I can see strike with our slightly damp range balls but face/path is only feels which unless as calibrated as you are, is really tough.

Went to the range with just this in mind. Checked strike location on each hit. Driver going nowhere last few weeks. By end session I was really striking them. I would have said a thousand things were wrong prior. This made me realise it wasn't that bad at all and once I find the middle it doesn't matter. Strike is king!

Best thing I ever did for my driver was go from 45.5" to 44". Average carry distance went up 7 yards since I actually hit the center and fairways hit jumped up too. I'm 5'7" and find it ridiculous companies want me to play the same length driver Dustin Johnson who is like 6'3" uses

I started using some foot spray to see where I was striking and realized I was getting a lot of the toe with my irons, so I started addressing the ball a hair inside of the center and it’s helped a lot

Im 34 years old and ive been playing golf since i was around 8, yet this is the first time ive actually realised that a strong/weak grip relates to my left hand as a right handed golfer! I always thought it was about moving my right hand around to show more or less knuckles!

My coach sent me away with strike tape and got me to regularly work on strike. Trying to bunch it up as close to the centre as possible. Best thing I ever did really, driver has been probably the best and most consistent club in my bag for a while now.

Mark, Great Video. A question for the tread, I have noticed I have a really long low point in my driver swing. To hit up on the ball and straiten out my strike I have to move the ball about 6 inches in front of my lead foot. Any thoughts on why that may be occurring?

I used to curve the ball quite a bit but a PGA pro saw me and offered to sort it over a couple of lessons and mugs of coffee... it worked unless I get lazy or tired 😉 I always feel comfortable hitting fade.
