I know there are stronger operators and even stronger bosses recently but Patriot will always be the coolest and most terrifying one for me, alongside Emperor Blade. Patriot's theme is also a personal fave of mine among boss bgms. Gives justice to his terrifying presence on the battlefield.
Some bosses, while it's true that they're strong, they're also annoying. I hate annoying bosses (yes, i'm looking at you, Antagonizer). But Patriot and EB isn't one of them, as they're truly STRONG strong. They terrifies me, not annoys me, like you said. Their mechanics are very well designed.
I don't understand why you are scared of the Emperor's Blade but I'm more scared of that Sankta guy from Guide Ahead who farts light boundaries and ninja-dodges attacks and Manfred with his dodgy business. Dodge is a shitty mechanic if it goes above 25% and the enemy has a bajillion HP to boot.
@@anzyroadside2374 Andoain wasn't scary, he's just annoying. I used no true dmg at all defeating him. Just make sure his bounce shot didn't go ham (by baiting it / careful ops placement), and you're basically good.
Do more stuff like these please! Like, explaining the basoc mechanics that some guode makers tend to gloss over. There's creators for some noche analysis of certain ops as well but bringing that to a larger audience will do the community justice
yes please. i love video that explore 'why' rather than the usual 'how'. also, i think Patriot is now regarded as 'boss killer testing kit' for new ops because he has high def and res.
Loved the video! Would dbe great to have more of these kind for more basic stuff since Yii's content is pretty aimed towards higher difficulty stuff. Then again, would still love to see your thoughts on Max Risking CC and stuff. Cheers!
Fun Fact: When HG was working on the development of Chapter 7, they plan to make Patriot have 3 phases which the last is where he is just unkillable and the first boss to not truly die but they scrapped it later on.
@@dalgona4819 Probably something similar to Chapter 6's final stage where u watch Yelena kill GreyThroat, Blaze and Amiya and then die but instead Patriot just stops dead in front of the box with an unkillable red bar untill all ur ops are killed by a spear lol
like a stage where you have to deal with not only with the regular mobs but also an unkillable 3th phase boss thats stills hurts you ops until it reach the blue box and dies. Sounds like fun i hope HG makes a boss stage like this in the future but knowing me i would probably still need a guide to beat it anyways
its insane that after 3 years we finally got out of the "you should watch a guide" thingy and went into "learning" vids,i love that this is happening now cause im a noob(like a lot of ppl i joined after watching the animu)and im a guidehater so this kind of vids are really helpful to me.
Vouch. I recommend Yii as well as Kukki for such learning videos. Kukki got the Arkpedia series for beginners, while Yii gives previews of CCs like stuff you want to keep in mind when strategizing, and some fun info about operators.
The transition of the turning into Kukki's computer screen is smooth lmao, with that uncle voice. Patriot is indeed one of the best bosses in ak, although he has the highest and scariest stats, that doesn't pull him away from damage experimenters.
Probably my favorite of your videos. It was stuff I already knew but having it condensed into a short 8min vid + a history lesson was great. Also, loved the ending joke, gave an audible laugh there.
Patriot, the last wendigo, the Aigis of the infected, the absolute gigachad. Such an unforgettable boss, I’ll never forget pleading for amiya to finish the job while my Blaze quickly loses her three seconds of invincibility..
Patriot is probably the best designed boss in Arknights, it actually forces people to engage with the mechanics of the game. I still use Patriot to test out some tactics, because if a team can tackle patriot, the team should be fine against all bosses. Not a fan of the recent direction of creating bosses that have evasion, as it makes fights a bit random or rely on the few operators that can actually interact with evasion as a mechanic (Lappland silence, Fartooth Pozy module etc).
The goal of dodge is to make the player engage the enemy in a certain way because all enemies that have dodge are reliant on a condition. This, of course, doesn't apply to Lucian who, for some goddamn reason, has a counter to the condition that disables his dodge.
The reason why patriot is my favorite boss is just not because of the story but also gameplay, unlike other arknights bosses with unique or downright confusing mechanic, patriot is just pure stats only, it's like a duel, no fancy mechanic, no fancy power, just you and me, pure strength and willpower
Actually he has a taunt, and he buffs stats for his troops while alive (including himself). When he gets into phase 2, he loses taunt, meaning H7-4 Shieldguard Leaders take taunt priority and literally, protect their Captain. 🍷🗿
You mentioned that eventually you wanted to stop making guides. Imo this type of video, where you teach players about the mechanics instead of posting a guide allows the players to experiment and tackle the game themselves. For example, you could make a video about status effects like stun, bind, cold, freeze etc and teach players on how to utilize them to victory
This stage is one of the boss stage that i completed in first try. Because i have been watching so many of patriot getting bullied to the point that i memorize everything in this stage
I like this new method you're applying to your videos to teach new players! Trivia with side of memes would be much more enjoyable for newer players. I think it would also gain more attention if you make titles like '101 guide to play arknights' or something like that And if you don't mind, I recommend mention some nicheknights to gain their interest! Since I personally love watching them Keep up the great work Uncle!
I still remember when Patriot initially came out all that time ago. It was such a ride trying to beat him on that launch day...and even more of a ride with the Inferno stages. He was this insurmountable brick wall that you had to adapt to overcome; a boss you truly had to think about. Of course, nowadays he's a punching bag for a lot of Operators but back then he was terror incarnate.
You know what's worse than HG not giving numbers? Yostar translation that has the audacity to say Patriot phase 1 is "extremely vulnerable to attacks" well sheesh according to Yostar Kroos can solo phase 1 low diff
Yes, like you said debuff is one the the way to go Versus Patriot... THEN WHY AREN'T YOU USING THE DEBUFF MINES?!?! FOR SOME REASON THIS BOTHERS ME VERY MUCH!
The thumbnail image is so cursed, knowing he's about to grab Amiya. Please cover about the dodge mechanic trend. So far the most annoying mechanic with true damage as the only consistent meta.
Going more into numbers, Patriot's 2nd phase is where his base defenses numbers are. Phase 1 gives him 3 times DEF and 2 times RES, also mentioning that he has inspire effect that increases base DEF by 200 more. This makes him total at 700 DEF base. 700 DEF and 45 RES are middle to high defenses combining with phase 1 buffs, that make him pretty much unkillable on the surface. Flat reductions cripples his phase 1 defenses almost entirely, notably Ifrit's S3 along with talent 2 for RES shred and allowing arts to deal damage. Flat DEF reduction are harder to come by and from my knowledge, Meteorite S2 and Ifrit S2 are the only ones that can reduce his DEF flat resulting his multipliers to diminish due to low numbers to work off with. Multiplier debuffers like Pramanix S2, Shamare S2 and Elysium S2 to name a few attacks the multipliers and not against his base defenses. Yii has already made a video on Damage Formulas and which ones are calculated first, the gist of it is flats first then multipliers for both ATK, DEF and RES without Inspire or Weakening effects come into play.
Boss deep dive videos could be useful for those who are interested in such, but I don't see the point of covering bosses that appear in Integrated Strategies. IS simply has too many factors, there is no way you would be able to cover every single situation. But main and side story bosses? Sure, go for it!
Honorable mention to Pramanix for being able to debuff both DEF and RES for those who're using hybrid (phys and arts) teams until they build their own and those who don't have Shamare/Gnosis.
Because of this video, i redo my Patriot clear from months ago. I started to play AK seriously on May / June last year, and back then on the Joint Operation banner, i was lucky that i got Surtr. From that moment, i just Surtr my way thru the game. I just finished the redo of this stage with 1st Year operators (prior to chap 7), and oh boy, it makes me realize that i've been spoiled this entire time. Even with well built 6* and all the knowledge i've gained about AK & this stage, i was stumbled upon my own steps lmao.
Tbh i finish patriot in my first couple of try not bcause i understand his mechanic but bcause his alway the guy that everyone bully when a new ops release that why i know what he does even if i didint understand him dosent help that my first limited is ntrk(really good against him) but it took me some time understanding the map tho but now after understand it i do duo ops clear in his stage like its nothing
RIP I've gone the physical damage route and am about to walk into Patriot. Mlynar GOGOGO! Update: Patriot got Vibe checked by Mlynar, unfortunately Amiya S3 was of minimal use.
@@MarieRose69 He's pretty good, but I remember there was a CC Training ground stage where a max damage ramp up M3 Mlynar skill wasn't enough to kill the R8 Big Croc boys.
@@datnoob4394 The thing about Arknights is, you have to make a collective strategy to win. There isn't a particular operator that is enough for everything. Every operator does no damage Infront of CC Rx enemies. Since they are designed to make such operators weaker.
I do appreaciate this video. Even thought I've been playing for some time now, I still feel like I end up relying on guides more often then not and I'm always left wondering: what do you see that I don't? And more importantly, how do you see it? I'd love to have more guides about the mechanics so I can play better on my own especially in... *shivers* Crimsion Solitare
When you made the zoom out referring to hypergriph to show actual numbers, i couldn't stop laughing This video was very interesting, you could make some about the status effect, operator who performs well and those who suffer greatly from it, and another thing I struggled in my early days was the dp regeneration, kinda some different way other than the bagpipe meta and sorta Thanks again for the lesson nice vid
I honestly feel like I'm cheating the game. I started half a year ago, got Pozy during Ideal City, brought her to E260 S3M3 with Level 2 Module. She more or less deleted normal stage Patriot with a little help from the mine. Also got Shamare and Ifrit built, but didn't need. Wish I'd played the game way back then and experienced that mentality shift!
love this style of video, get to hear see your creative juices at work with those math memes and teaches other valuable lessons in AK unique to other creators out there! This might just be the way forward!
Loving this style of videos. Practical information and sensible jokes. Brilliant. Just be wary of the slippery slope of comedy. It may be fun to entertain people but not at the cost of information. Don't let the jokes become priority.
This is a really good video and format, I'd rather have analysis on mechanics or enemies than specific operators for future videos. For example talking about what exactly "silencing" does and what enemies it affects helps out a lot more than analyzing a specific operator that has silencing only as a part of their kit. It would help players decide on their own which operator to build/pick. if only arknights had an in-game preview of all the skills and talents for all currently obtained operators though smh
This is a nice video. I think its very instructive for both new and old players to know, not only how to clear the stage, but more about bosses so that the players can think about a strat using their fav operators. I would be very cool to have a boss video during every event. Keep the good work kukki!
*On April 10th, I have finally beat the Patriot full 3-stars... With my friend's Nearl.... By bombing him 5 times PERFECTLY TIMED at the start of his route, right when game starts, and then once he gets to the bottom for the first time, and I had surtr ready, AND SURTR'D THE HELL OUT OF HIM, AND THE BOMBS MADE IT EFFECTIVE, and also set up Ch'en the Holungday and have her finish his first health bar before he starts going up-lane, and let them die from his aura, and set up more bombs on the top route area, and then just Surtr alone can practically kill him if you set her pretty far away, but still on the route, just at the farthest away part of the route she can while still blocking his way once he walks, and use her skill right when he first reaches the top route area. Then I irene him directly after Surtr dies (Irene is usually holding top lane until then and Mountain bottom lane), and he dies. But I also had to put Ling dragons where the bomber guys are, or Bagpipe, and you have to pop ling/Bagpipe skill to make it work.* (ANYWAY. THIS IS WHAT I SAID A COUPLE DAYS EARLIER --->) This game fuckin' sucks bro. I tried using Warfarin and Aak on Surtr, and it did JACK SHIT, and AAK'S BUFF DOES SO MUCH DMG, THAT IT INSTANTLY KILLS CH'EN THE HOLUNGDAY, SO I CAN'T EVEN BUFF HER WITH THEM BOTH!!! It's so irritating!!! Although, I think if I upgrade my Amiya, I could probably kill this boss finally.. But I have to level her up first, and get her to max elite.. 😒 Anyway, I really thought this boss was the end of my Arknights career, and that I'd just get characters for now on and that it was impossible... So if I can do it, anyone can. 👌
Patriot is one of the boss if not THE boss where my statements regarding Physical vs Arts damage is true : Arts is shit along with Res system. Why? bcs essentially once you pass the threshold with armors then your damage is a true damage, while Arts will always get reduced. "but debuff exist!!" "Arts will always do damage no matter how small!!". my people, yes debuff exist but not just Res debuff ofc, and Physical debuff is much more efficient in amplifying your damage, while res is there no matter what. 1. Arts do damage all the time no matter how small yes, but more and more enemies got high Res in new content. 70 res means that no matter how BIG your Arts damage is, it will always got a tax cut of 70%, and this sucks. Why does it sucks? bcs it means a single-use skills (Nuke/Bomb/Charges) of Arts damage will suffer the most. for example i believes Dusk full potential (lvl and modules too) will have 4000+ Arts damage per skill use of S1 and around 3000 of S3, big right? not until she'll only give 30-50% of that damage with high res enemies which became more prevalent. 2. Have you ever notice why Eyja is powerful and still relevant? bcs her S3 not only have big ATK but also ridiculous ASPD, on top of Res debuff in S2 bcs the dev knows Res is suck. same case with GG, without her global range and Res ignore, hee potential of damage will be severely limited and guess what they give her multiple drone bcs they knew single instance damage of Arts is piss poor. 3. How about Physical damage? does single instance also suck for them? quick answer is NO. Horn S1 is perhaps one of them most cracked AFK Physical skill in AK, with huge damage and utility to illuminate. "but what if the defense is 2000+??!!", my people, the chance of you finding enemies with 2000+ Def is much lower than 60-70 or higher Res. and even then once you go pass 2000+ Def in Atk then it's true damage, which MANY Physical ops did have much higher Atk than that (Andreana says hi with nearing 4000 atk) so the answer, Arts damage needs either high ASPD/reach or Debuff to perform well (Eyja/GG) or a very ridiculous multiplier like Ebenholz. While Physical didn't need ASPD or inherent Debuff, but with those than they're indisputable Kings and Queens (Mlynar, Horn, Ch'otgun, Schwartz, Avdotya, Fartooth, Gavial, Thorns, and so on) i mean the fact that most top meta ops have Physical damage instead Arts just proof that. thank you for listening to my Tedtalks Disclaimer: THIS POST ONLY TALKS ABOUT DPS NOT OTHER UTILITIES. as if not obvious enough, including utilities will only make it longer and derived from the main problem, plus even if Arts damage user have good utilities that doesn't mean Physical users can't have it aswell
Man, I remember my first run of Patriot. I didn't know anything, I used the mines. Nice. He went down, that was rough. I hope that- Why is he getting up. Why is he killing my ranged. Why is-
I remember facing him, Skadi+Pramanix = DEATH. I started going physical but end then some pulls happened, and I am much more an arcane player currently.
When I got to patriot after picking the game back up after two years I was like fuck. Then I realized before I took my long break I "wasted" all my time maxing Skadi. Problem temporarily solved.
I'm spitting out blood cause I literally don't have most of the debuffer and buffer in the game. Criminal cat lady exist but I'm broke from trying to upgrade Spalter module cause 80% AoE arts damage from an almost 1k attack plus 60% slow from basically immortal operator is too delicious for afk gamer like me. Eyja with her 2nd skill is my only debuff that I had build but not sure if I have the necessary stuffs to build a squad with arts centric in mind. And I still have to get better with the mindset of not leaving vanguard on the map forever until they died before replacing them and the whole fast redeploy operators ever existing. I see Lee and I can see is my DP goes down by 3 every 3 secs.
Omg, I just figured out that his stats say "S A S S" and that's basically how I felt about him first time I try to beat him with mines coz I can't rly beat him properly like "really? You're gonna use these mines to stop me? Like a *coward* ?" (Only good op I had back then was Silverash)
I'd like to know more about mechanics and strategy. I've been playing AK for almost a year but still know shit about it. This video was really helpful!
I started Arknights 2months ago. Luckily my E2 Amiya, Franka and the mines are enough to take down Patriot. I'm still unfamiliar with squad building but I usually just bomb the enemies from a distance with Fiametta and Horn, and Franka usually the one dealing damage to some boss
I remember the firdt time i was exposed to the SASSy bastard of the patriot in vigilo. Took me a lot of things to kill him sience i was e 1 lvl 50 Took me 1 eija 1 mudrock 1 rosmontia 1 pramantix. Way tol much skill. Nowdays it takes me a warfrin a toddifons aknd a pramantox.
Patriot is unkillable not because he does something extraordinary or anything, it's because the lack of information, creating artificial difficulty. If his stats, passives, and skills are presented to us right from the start, most people will instantly know how to kill him 2nd try. This is exactly like the "Art Caster" situation in the early game. The tutorial keeps telling the players to place down a guardian and spread the operators and try to react when enemies run over your guardian. Meanwhile, that "Art Caster only has... 2 range", so you can just throw a random 3-range op to kill it. The tutorial just makes it harder artificially for nothing...
