TL;DR: You'll save a lot of time by studying the relevant sociology chapters in an MCAT review book!
Today's MedCat Video covers why you don't need a sociology class for the MCAT exam unless you're genuinely interested enough in sociology to take the class for your own learning. Proportionally, it is a small portion of the exam, and you'd be better served by studying sociology through a review book targeted on the MCAT.

do you have channel recommendations to study this part for the mcat? so that I can have a comprehensive grasp on the material that is most likely to be tested?

As far as RU-vid, I'm not quite sure to be totally honest. I think the best way to really get a comprehensive understanding would be to use a text like Kaplan or Princeton Review and supplement with RU-vid search as needed--I would not feel comfortable with any channel that claims it is truly "comprehensive."

Thoughts? Disagreements?

I think you nailed a lot of important points. The one point I would disagree with is that a book is going to be enough for every student. Some people learn best by reading textbooks, but some are better at learning material through lectures or videos. Finding out what method works best is the key to preparing well for the MCAT.

Unfortunately, it's required by some medical schools. So, ya might as well take it. But, I agree. Anyways, most soc. topics are pretty self explanatory.

Yeah, fair enough. That being said, I applied to a very large number of schools, none of which required sociology, so it's something worth thinking about. I wish I'd viewed college as more of a time to gain useful skills and learn and fail (which I definitely did some of, but not to the extent I should have) rather than optimize my readiness for medical school. The more classes you can free up from pre-recs, the more you can explore.
