I hope you find these tips helpful in order to look your best in photographs and in life.
In a world that's always trying to crush us and make us feel bad in order to purchase the 'latest' and 'greatest' products, we hear a lot of criticism, but honestly, it's not true. And the older you get, the more comfortable you become with yourself and the more you learn how to look your absolute best, in a way that you're comfortable, the less you care about this pressure put onto you.
Never compare yourself to models and celebrities. They have teams of people behind them to assist in making them look their absolute best. You very rarely see any selfies of celebrities in a bad light, without make up etc. Yes...there is a small percentage of extremely beautiful people in the world. That's their gift and that's great. We have our own gifts.
It's nothing against celebrities and models for always presenting themselves perfectly - it's their job. And it's your job to not allow this to get to you and with these 6 tips you will understand how you can look your absolute best too.

Working as a retouch-artist in the advert and media business has opened my eyes so so much! I've been doing it for almost a year now and I still feel a certain anger when getting the retouch instructions for pictures of models. Somehow the ones for the ladies end up being way more harsh than for men and that's feckin mad!

Do not look at the flash. If you know you are about to be photographed using flash, look slightly to the left or right of the photographer so as to minimize the possibility of Red-Eye.

Garrett Sattem that’s not what they’re saying. It’s not a compliment because it’s not directed at her, and the celebrity has no idea who she is or what she looks like. What she means is it’s easy for them to feel like beauty doesn’t matter when they are incredibly beautiful themselves, and have no idea how she looks. I would guess the original commenter is very pretty, but again this compliment doesn’t have much meaning because I have never seen her.

We need more women empowerment videos like this! Media pushes the “you should look like this” agenda so people will buy more products. Instead of women thinking, “I like the way I am and I feel comfortable with who I am as a person.” Beauty truly shows from the inside out.

Tbh I don't think I will ever get over how much I dislike how I look in photographs. It takes all my small and tiny imperfections like my skin, non-symmetrical face shape, eye bags, nose shape, puffy cheeks...etc and just magnifies them by so much even when I put make-up on, do a different lighting, different angle, better camera...etc. Nothing just works, but I have 100% confidence when I look in the mirror. It just comes to a point where I literally look unrecognizably different in pictures and its just a complete mind f*ck to me.

Wow your smile is so big and bright! I cant help but be sitting here grinning along with you! I like that your laid out what you'd be covering in the video. And I love how you focus on people finding what they love most about themselves, not 'your prettiest angle' or 'your good side'. It's nice to have a photography video aimed at helping people love themselves more. One tip I was always told was to bring your ears forward instead of your chin. Something about that wording made it easier for me to figure out the movement.

Same! I have very uneven eyes, usually I compensate with makeup, or even better: be very expressive! If you rest/relax your face, it shows the difference a lot more. If you smile widely and squint a bit, it mostly doesnt show, if you raise your eyebrows/only one eyebrow you'll get even better results, if you wink - problem solved. Just dont relax or try that sexy vampire-esque droppy eye look and you'll be golden

I've tried all the methods above, the smile works for me, but I really dislike the way my smile looks in photos. I'm just VERY un-photogenic, there's no escaping it lol (Idk if you care but I went to an event today and everyone was taking pictures and trying to include me and I felt so bad and insecure. I made them delete all the photos with me in them :( it's hard to keep memories when you look bad in all your photos)

Sajida Assaf i know what you mean, it's awful not to be photogenic - but nowadays you can get so creative with photos! Selfies often have people covering large portions of their faces with their hand (peace signs, poking cheeks, saluts, etc) I know its hard work to love yourself in a picture when youre not photogenic, but don't let it stop you Keep three things in mind: theres always something you can do to look a little better (makeup, posing, facial expression, covering face with hands, editing), the more you look at youself the more you will be confortable with what you see (psychological fact, its the reason why we are less sensitive to violence nowadays, since its all over movies and news, we get used to seeing it all around us and care less and less) And last but not least, dont let looks get on the way of you enjoying yourself and making great memories!

I always love glossy well done photos but it's good to be mindful that 1. They start with a model or celebrity who was already stabdardly gorgeous 2. That gorgeous person was then styled by the best of the best in the best clothes 3. Had the very best make up put on by the best makeup artist 4. Same for hair and hair styling and then photographed by an uber talented professional and even after all of that having about five layers of separation from real standards they are then edited. Sometimes only slightly, I like to edit my photos to look like I had 8 hours sleep and a fresh shave- and sometimes severely ie a model could have a large cut on their leg and BAM it's suddenly never there. Which is like the famous quote by Cindy crawford where she said "I wish I looked like Cindy Crawford" Meaning she, beautiful as she is, doesn't even look like the final photos we saw. I don't hate any of this because all of those aesthetics are art forms and put together it does create something beautiful but it's important to be mindful of how much effort went in before comparing ourselves in real life to it.

johhny cash beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Even super models have things that they hate about themselves and their insecurities. People can constantly tell them how beautiful they are but they will still see the ugly their own eyes see. Also, there will always be people who find flaws in others and tell them they're not pretty enough.

Your videos make me so happy! As a round wheeler, I really have no idea what seated position would make look like anything other than a potato sack; and it is extremely hard to find clothes that are good for a wheeler which means we often end up wearing stuff that doesn't particularly suit us. I avoided cameras for 40 years until I decided my need to tell stories had to overrule my fear of looking ugly in photos or on tape. I have now been making videos and taking selfies for a full year and it is amazing how it changes your opinion of what you actually look like. When you see a really bad pic of yourself a couple of times a year it really makes you break into a sweat as soon as someone even shows you a camera. But when you see yourself on tape every day you start getting used to what you actually look like and slowly you begin to see things that you can accept. And from acceptance you can even begin to like or even love parts or angles of yourself. Thank you so much for making videos like these. It is such a relief to hear someone preach self acceptance and talk about how to find the best in yourself regardless of size, shape, age or even function. Thank you x

Look at the *veins on your wrists* . If you see blue veins or green veins or purple veins... If you see *blue* = you're a *cool* skin tone If you see *green* = you're a *warm* skin tone If you see *purple or all of them* = you're lucky, cause you're *neutral* and in that case *every color suits you*, basically
