Bomber jackets have a place in my heart, got 3 different versions right now from surplus to a vintage Hugo Boss and even a cheapo fast fashion one, they all have different vibes for sure even though they all have the same background, so I really agree with this video man it is kind of a jack of all trades kind of design.
I think the AderxAlpha project perfectly underlines why the demure base of a normal bomber is perfect to build on. If not by designers, then in our personal styling. You can calm down otherwise over-the-top fits by throwing on a smooth bomber. In techwear particularly, since some of the techwear articles can give a rather big look, and if you don't want to go too big, you can just calm it down with a bomber.
that Enfin Leve bomber is the bomb! there are also japanese souvenir type jackets and lettermen style jackets both based on the bomber style. my favorite is the kimono oversize bomber style.
5:10 I picked up the Uniqlo bomber (olive green) about half a year ago when I was up in new york for the first time, I had forgotten to pack a coat and needed something so I picked it up. Long stories short it has become my favorite jacket ever, plenty warm for most everyday use by itself, and if it is below freezing outside I just put on a hoodie.
I bought a bomber jacket a few years ago when I was still into athleisure/streetwear, however it has some utilitarian/industrial design choices imo. So once I started to get into techwear it was a natural fit.
Do you have any advice for people who have a pretty basic style, maybe a bit 'rugged' but looking to get into street and techwear, but aren't into the over the top, loud stuff?
Spooky. When I had the RU-vid notification for this I was wearing, for only the 3rd or 4th time this year, a (fast fashion) MA1 jacket that I put on earlier to do a couple of outdoors chores! I missed out on a SISP model a couple of years ago and this has got me fired up to get a decent one now
I really like the 11byBBS bomber, those thumb hole cuffs were what clinch my vote between that jacket and the Enfin Leve one. Both of those jackets feature enough nuances and great features to separate them from the classic Alpha Industries MA1 jacket, which can also be somewhat voluminous. And, as always, another great video - and the suggestion of a mid-week upload is much welcomed
All time use sleeve pocket to carry my keys, also it good for headphone case, but i use carabineer to carry it more simple and faster to change from wear to bag
I've had a few Bomber jackets but I've never been happy with the fit despite the correct size. They were either too puffy, too thin or just one colour Black. Recently I've found the perfect Bomber jacket for me, it's a Schott Bomber jacket. Expensive but it fits me like I was measured for it. Mission complete.
Bought a black Ben Sherman bomber on amazon for $50 a few years back. Covered all the Ben Shermanie labelling with existential patches. Still fun to wear.
my problem is: I have a big arse. Jackets with an elastic hem accentuate the arse. They make my arse look massive. I hear the Buzz Rickson William Gibson model had a slightly longer back, might work for me.
As long as you don't wear tight sushi roll pants and have a few inches of space in the thighs you'll still have a good non-bulky look. Rule #1, always taper. T. p l u m p here
Have you seen any of the MYSHELTER pieces from Adidas? I bought the rain.rdy parka in the tan color way and have found it to be of good quality. It comes with jacket straps as well.
the one jacket from Riot Division that is still a proper staple is their insulated bomber, all black, of course, primaloft warmth, and so much pocket space when I wear it I really don't need a bag. I bought it long enough ago that the OG price was 60US... remember when RD was super affordable? That said it's too warm for many months here in LA and I still have my eye open for a nice technical bomber that is lite too... can't we have it all?!?! (the EL jacket you have is really close to the Uhal, the Uhal has a slight different shape, a few more features (hood) but overall they look quite similar.)
@@ThisIsAntwon would love to get some more jackets, also looking at the Rough Simmons "ora ora ora" bomber; shame about lockdown 2.0 preventing me from actually wearing them tho haha
Great content, as usual. Bomber jackets are not really my style, though. I’m currently looking for a nice midlayer jacket and can’t really find a good one. They‘re often too short (e.g. acrnm j68 and j78), not keeping the lower back warm. Others are too plain (e.g. tilak). Any recommendations?
I’ve been trying to “justify” buying another. I got an Alpha Industries MA-1 Apollo edition in grey as a gift. I’m trying to “justify” the decision I’ve already made to get another. Specifically a unique one, like with patches and stuff.
Been looking for a nice bomber jacket, but then I saw the Adidas X White mountaineering varsity jacket on sale so I got that instead lol. Still it's not too dissimilar
Hi Antwon! Would love for you to review some black series north face if you haven’t already! I think you’d take a keen liking to the North face Black Series Dyvent trucker jacket!
@@ThisIsAntwon I’d be happy to send a coat over for a review man just let Me know! I luckily picked up some black series at the tnf outlet! Have never been so lucky since 😅
He works at DELL if I remember correctly. He mentioned this in a livestream. And he‘s buying most of his stuff with youtube money or companies send him stuff (like enfin levé or acronym)
@@eqal6488 Yup pretty much spot on! Acronym don't send me any clothes unfortunately but very fortunate to have support from quite a few brands, and generally any paid sponsorship stuff is used to buy things to review or feature in some way. So the channel doesn't really make any profit but it all works out fine 👌
I do own a nice custom suede bomber so I think they have their place but more and more I think, well, why wouldn't you wear something with a hood if you're in London and you have a technical piece? If you're going for retro or some other style, or have a statement piece sure, but I don't really see the appeal of getting a stotz from enfin leve only to not cover one's head, if the idea is to have a throw-it-on for any situation kind of item.
To be fair the Zara stuff does look a bit more interesting at least. Not sure how good it would be but my general experience with them has been better than H&M
I bought a black one about 2 weeks ago. Haven't had the opportunity to test its ability to repel water, but it feels both really light but also warm. It has a high collar and an adjustable hood. Tabs on the sleeve cuffs. Chest and waist pockets with flaps and the main zipper is hidden with a snap-button placket. Definitely not bad overall and it can certainly pull off a techwear look without breaking the bank.
Got one polar jacket made for travelling from them. Their stuff is usually pretty much bad quality (trust me I'm from the same city of the owner) but this one was crazy warm and with four pockets, deffo giving that tech look
I got an alpha industries slim ma-1 around 4+ years ago and the only part thats aged for me is the gold hardware, a good bomber could potentially be a lifetime piece
Just nabbed an Alpha Industries MA1 for 45$ shipped from eBay, new with tags. I'm 5'8 & 140 lbs and I fit in the XL nicely. A medium was waaay too small on me, L prob would've fit just barely, so XL it was. A double XL would probably fit as well, to though it'd be little baggy. Weird I'm rarely in an XL for jackets. Maybe the 1st one? Anyway I've seen a review where the jacket had 3 bulletproof panels on the back/sides. Is that a thing? I don't see it on their website. Good vid.
Ooh nice pickup! I'm no expert on Alpha Industries but they've made so many different models that I wouldn't be surprised if there was one with inserts
I would be up for picking those up at some point actually, they look like a pretty good option. ATM I have loads of stuff in the pipeline though so will have to wait for now!
Don't sleep on the Marks & Spencer's Men's bombers by Limited ... The quality, fit and colours are unreal for the price and put any other High street rivals to shame.
Utility wise, I think the bomber jacket design is flawed. It's really warm to wear but the collar design means it needs to be paired with a neck warmer.
MA-1 is not a bomber jacket but a flight jacket. Bomber jackets are only the heavy leather jackets with sheepskin. Its a big misconception calling the MA-1, CWU45/P and other Alpha flight jackets bomber jackets which they are definitely not.
Bomber jackets have to have a bulk its the style of it the leather jacket and the bomber are the bad boy jackets if you want a real bomber buy an alpha industries one they are the best
Honestly I find it the most difficult finding pants than anything else in techwear. I hate baggy pants and unfortunately most techwear pants seem to run like that.
> watches a video that argues you need a bomber jacket despite hating bomber jackets > still doesn't want one but only the enfin leve esekita > can't afford > RAAAAAGEEEEEE
@@HCoreSoldierKili Yeah thanks for the input but I did buy once from RiotDivision and was really underwhelmed with the quality and therefore I think it's way more valuable to buy single expensive pieces after saving up. :)
