Agreed. I have owned a C6 for quite some time, and it’s my favorite body style. Love the fat ass with large rounded rear brake lights. However, if I ever decided to upgrade, I would hunt for a clean C7 before throwing a big bag at a C8. It just hasn’t grown on me. It’s too busy - doesn’t flow well, not appealing to me at all. I have a friend with a C7 ZO6- not crazy about yellow- but it’s basically a museum piece- I’m all over it if and when he sells.
@@austinthephoenix50 I know the new technology is really good, and it rips, but do you like the looks? I love my C6, it was a retirement gift, so it has some sentimental value to me, but I’ve been thinking about an upgrade. Maybe I should drive the C8 like you did.
I love the look of the c6 & c7 and was resistant to the c8 at first but then I rented multiple c7 & c8’s on Turo and fell in love with everything about the c8. I had my heart set on a 2019 c7 never intending to get anything else but I just ordered a c8 with zero doubt!
The 7spd is amazing I have a 2017 z06 3LZ with the high arrow option . Absolutely insane car did the full PPF v pipe ported throttle body and intake that combo is the chefs kiss
Most people I've seen highly recommend that you get the manual. Mainly because the automatic gearbox is absolutely garbage with horrible shift timings and has overheating issues if you are tracking the corvette.
That's only on the for the 1st few model years 17 and up you're good. I actually think they fixed issues on 16 but can't remember. 2019's are the best of the best though they used Zr1 parts on Z06
@alexanderdunn8605 not at all 2013 vs 2016 the trans in the Z is superior in all aspects and its a lighter car with a more modern LT4 which is also superior in all categories in comparison. Not downplaying the gt500 what so ever just speaking facts
Don't forget the overheating issues, the auto trans + torque converter issues and the 4 little grenades that are under the cylinder heads. A sports car with cylinder deactivation is not good for anyone. The fix for most C7 Z06 problems is a C7 Zr1. A
Overheating issue isn't a problem for later models, only 2014 and 15, also there's a TSB for it and GM installs extra radiators, I have a 15 and no issues with overheating after that even on track. Yea you will need to tune out or buy an AFM disabler to disable the cylinder deactivation. Or get it removed entirely but that may get expensive.
@@gahaha8565 Not to nit pick but there is no 2014 z06. 1st year for C7Z was 2015. I see the overheating issue every summer. Where I live, it occurs during normal commuting with the a/c on in mild traffic. The tsb update is a joke and barely takes the edge off the problem. The issue is even in the 19 Zo6 with completely updated cooling. But anyway, making the Afm system inactive does not solve the problem. Like previously indicated, the weak spot is in the afm lifters themselves. They come apart and put shrapnel inside the engine when they do (hence the grenade description). They have no place in a vehicle that gets driven hard. Just one of several design disasters in the c7.
@@srmurc6zo6 Lifters are problematic but its not as widespread as some may think. I still have mine albeit only 20k miles on the car, I've met guys with north of 80k miles and still no issues. Worst come to worst you can pay a couple thousand for it to be removed. My Z is driven hard and also tracked a few times a year, sometimes in 100+ conditions and I have not had any overheating issues after the TSB. It'll start to pull timing though after a while but almost every car does this. Regardless this is only noticeable for a small % of people who drive hard, and 99% of people out there would not even notice this. Comparatively with cars in the same price range, the c7z is by far the best bang for your buck. A modded c6z or c6zr1 is pretty close but handling and interior quality is lacking in both. You'd have to go north of 150k to find cars that'll outperform it, albeit you will deal with a whole new level of headaches there.
@@srmurc6zo6The V4 mode is an issue on the autos when in left in Drive mode instead of Manual mode as it constantly changes into V4 mode under certain driving conditions regardless of drive mode (sport, track, etc). A pain in the arse, really. Manual mode deters V4 mode. And the 7 speed manual doesn't ever go into V4 mode, only strictly if in eco mode. Regarding the heat, more common in pre-2017 models with the A8 in drive mode. Manual mode I hear helps lower the temps. M7 can overheat but under extreme, extreme conditions for extended periods of time. Heat soak in the other hand is not uncommon in general if you push a car hard enough under more extreme conditions. C6ZR1 is an example of this but nobody talks enough about it as those are much rarer to gather data from.
@@z-ra What many don't understand is that the AFM lifters are a problem even if the AFM system never engages. The overheating issues don't occur in the Camaros or Caddys even though they use the same engine. The issue is poor design. The trans issues are mostly vibration related which many believe are related to AFM. It is not. Torque converter failures occurred frequently and the ATF was reformulated several times to combat the issue. The only guaranteed fix for most of what ails the C7 Z06 is to just get a C7 ZR1 (if you want a C7). Proper cooling, bigger supercharger, no AFM, and dual fuel injection makes a big difference.

Sure, they ain’t super fast but man, they are fun and comfortable to drive! That 7 speed with no lift shift provides one of the best driving experiences next to the gt350
How are they not holding value, with the 19 being the last of the last (last of the front end that also embodies the look of it's predecessors) they are holding around 75k plus
Mustang were built to run in a straight line when you start to look at street ability, handling, aerodynamics the vette wins everytime. Raw power goes to the Mustang but it's not as practical in usage as the vette
@Socialjusticewarriorsaretrash honestly I don't know much about mustangs. I know they are way easier to mod compared to the C7. I've always been a Vette lover
