These are without a doubt my absolute favorite beaters of all time. I have the DW MDD double pedal, and the beaters are simply amazing. The ability to change between a traditional rounded felt, to flat felt, then to flat plastic is so handy. Not to mention the weights you can put into the beater depending on your feel, and if you want more punch from the bass drum. At the end of the day, both the MDD and their beaters are incredible pieces of hardware.
Great yo enjoy these. They are versatile. My problem is that the rounded felt beater fell apart after moderate use. I decided to stick with Vic Firth felt beaters.
There’s one that looks like that, and another that is on a metal rod that you can use flush for a fatter sound or on its side for more attack. And yeah, I was surprised as I’ve had great results with all of the DW gear I own.
I like the self leveling concept. My only concern would be the screw on discs coming loose after a long practice or gig. I'm going to check one out none the less.
I've so far had ZERO issues with any of my two sets that I've had on for a couple of years now. I think with 4 different numbs to lock in place along with the threading it's pretty secure.
Yeah they don’t move AT ALL once tightened. They screw in but as you tighten the screw part, there are also locking points where they click and lock into place, kinda hard to explain, but when tighten it you can feel it, and the second it clicks into place you will know it doesn’t move. I could tell right when I tightened it before I even played. And has never even gotten slightly loose or came out of locked position. And yet still very easy to tighten and loosen. It’s pretty genius actually. More screw on devices would benefit greatly from this concept. It is simple when you see it. But it works perfectly. Usually you have to tighten really hard and or strip something. There is none of that . Mechanically and functionally these are amazing. And 40 bucks per beater sounds like alot, but when you realize that the stock ones on DW pedals is 20 each, then it is actually pretty crazy all you get more for 20 bucks. night and day. And honestly a perfect product. And for DW it is possibly their fairest priced product also for all it accomplishes. The trick shaft alone is 140.00 , and at 80 for 2 of these beaters it made just as much of a difference. Trick shaft is also amazing and like night and day also. I recommend adding these beaters and the trick shaft to any pedal. Wont regret either of them I promise.
I'm looking at this beater and the low boy light daddy, but haven't decided yet. Obviously this beater would go perfectly with my 5000 turbo. It's also a lot cheaper to lighten my pedal throw than buying the dw 9000. 😂
So for me I had horrible luck with the low boy wood beaters. I bought a custom set for my Orange kit and they just tore through bass drum heads left and right. Drove me nuts
