Maxxis Minion DHF and Maxxis Minion DHR II. My Haibike came with them. I should try something different but I love these tires so much I keep buying them,
For trails in and around Aberdeenshire Scotland on my Turbo Levo I had Butcher Grid's but recently fitted Schwalbe Eddy Current Front & Rear, and so far haven't been disappointed, tons of grip and no punctures going DH while running between 25-30psi..
I love going down the tire rabbit hole ! So many choices. No right or wrong answer, just have to find what works for you. Would Like to see a video on how width effects performance in climbing and cornering etc. interesting to see some bike manufacturers spec a wide rear tire , some same size as front and a new trend of a skinnier rear tire. I assume the new skinny rear trend is to whip around corners but can’t help too much on climbing .
My situation tire punctures was definitely a consideration so I opted with the heavy duty tire. I switched from Schwalbe Knobby Nicks and went with the Vittoria E-Mazza, claimed 2.6 inches wide, but it’s actually 2.5, they are a incredible hill climber, here in Colorado Springs it’s varied conditions from dirt to hard pack, rock, gravel some sand, I have 40 miles on the tires so far I do say I am pleased with the switch, also they roll nice too.
If you have a tri-ride T-rocks and are looking for a replacement for the cst bft factory fitted, I can recommend very highly the schwalbe super Moto X 20x4 run at 16/17psi.
I race dirtbikes all i use my ebike for is to ride the track before the races. The tracks are about 10-13 miles long, with that being said the terrain is constantly changing. My bike struggles on climbs what’s a good all around tire especially for climbing for trails
"Inflate your tyres higher so you can get a longer ride in" That goes against all the research showing lower tyre pressure (to a point) gives less rolling resistance on anything but a perfectly smooth surface.
People don't think wide is good in sticky conditions as the max I run is 2.4 DH for stiff side walls and soft compound and tubes for winter and tubeless summer.
Timely video just had another puncture today and sealant and plug wouldn't fix,had to fit tube to get home ( hole wasn't that big)do indeed to up the amount of sealant..? Rear tyre is a maxxis high roller, 2.8. Thanks 👍
Just got an WTVA E-Bike with 20 x 4. tires, but (due to bad back) the more I think about it I don't plan on any of road riding and will mainly stick to pavement. I want less noise and smoother ride and puncture resistance ... any suggestion would be helpful.
I need a tire for my Fat EBike. 20x4, I want the best tire as puncture proof as possible, street and off road. Which one is the best as everyone says different things. I liked the Kenda Krusade but someone said it wasn't good. If you know I'd appreciate it, if not, that's ok.. thank you
I was told I need an E-Bike specific tire ?? Due to the extra weight of the bike , seen the e-wild Michelin and thought it was legit but can’t find anywhere it says e on my hanz dampf !
I ride dry rocky trails on the Costa Blanca and use Maxxis DHR2's but the back tyre doesn't last more than 3 months, I'm planning on trying Michelin Rock R2 Enduros. Any thoughts on these or any other tyres for durability
I just moved on to Ebikes with my levo i rode a canyon strive before that for a few years with a maxis dhr on the front and a dhf on the rear yes reversed an absolute fantastic combo and had sooo much confidence in them would that same set up be suitable for my levo?
Tomas, Great combo for my S Enduro too. But even though this is an old post, I go mulit in winter, so I can run a wider fatter rear! I do get a chance to ride in the snow and this setup works great!
Why does tire pressure ALWAYS get treated like a red-headed stepchild?!! You literally said nothing about pressure besides, “get it right!”...how about telling us what IS right?!! I know it all depends on rider weight, conditions, type of trail and a slew of other factors, but nobody ever tosses out basic starting points. And on the few occasions I do see somebody mention tire pressure, it usually is so far off from what I ride that I wonder if I’m nuts or the guy posting the video! I’m currently running 14lbs rear & 12lbs front on a Canyon Spectral ON with Minions 2.5/2.6 and I’m 185lbs, yet I see guys claiming that I should be running at 20/24lbs! If I was I’d be bouncing off every rock on the trail!!! So...am I nuts?!!
norco has a sweet tire pressure calculator that takes into account rider weight, ability and so on. very useful. I don't think 14 and 12 is nuts, but if you go fast through the rough stuff or big compressions, you will be rolling the tire, possibly puncturing it, and damaging your rims.
Hi Brad, the aim of this particular vid was six facts you need to tune into rather than a specific 'how to' of tyre pressure. We have those vids too. What weight are you? 14 sounds pretty low, although we've done 6psi on some rocks this year on slow speed conditions
@@stevejones7956 I’m 185lbs...and I’ve been riding everything from rock gardens to pounded-down single track...but when I get the pressure over 15lbs on the front tire, things start getting squirrelly!
I ride in the mountains of Lake Tahoe. Rocky rowdy hard up and down all single track. So far I can’t feel a significant difference in my tire pressure I’ve ridden as low as 14/18 and high 24/27 and the only dif I feel is rocky steep tech downhill I get thrown off line a lot. Can I go higher in pressure and roll over rocks. Max is dh 2.6
hi all this is slightly off subject but here goes can anyone tell me were i can buy fat tyres and rim or wheels like 20x4 inch i dont want to exceed 20 inch total height when inflated i was told an ebike wheel/tyre was what i need,i am making an electric wheelchair from a ninebot mini pro segway the main requirement is so i can mount a small kerb or ramp the 10 inch wheels on the segway just will not work.thanks
We are on Specialized Levo and Turbo Levo Expert. We have the standard tires but am having a heck of a time with pressure., Our trails around here are sandy with rock sections. I am a heavy rider and my wife is of course lighter. The main issue I have is sliding in corners, like no grip. Is a higher pressure better or lower for grip on those conditions?
You guys cover tyres a bit and obviously do a lot of riding. Have you ever done comparisons with running the tyres backwards compared to there correct orientaion?
I am new to emtb and have just bought a batribike delta plus for road and footpath use, what tire would you recommend for that type of riding? Uk riding.
